Product Review #15: bliss Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-peptide Serum 🌸 Product Description: This is a collagen-protecting and brightening serum features 20% vitamin C(Ethyl ascorbic acid) plus tri-peptide to brighten, diminish the look of dark spots and visibly firm skin. It also contains licorice root extract and tocopherol(vitamin E). 🌸 Who can use it?: All skin types 🌸 Price: $27 🌸 Packaging/texture: First off, if you’re sensitive to fragrance, you might want to stay away from this. It has a citrus scent which I absolutely love. I enjoy fragrance in skincare 🌚. Comes in a 30ml orange pump bottle with a silky texture that sinks into the skin almost immediately. 🌸 My Experience: This is my first ever vitamin C serum and I absolutely loved it 🥰. I mean, vitamin C + vitamin E = Antioxidant power couple🤣. Loved that it contained licorice root extract and also glycerin; this serum didn’t miss out on hydration. To the main gist, did it actually brighten my skin? Yes it did✅. It helped in giving my skin that bright plump look and also did help in fading some of my post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I absolutely enjoyed using this serum, wished it came in a bigger bottle 😩 🌸 Would I be repurchasing? Definitely. Product Review #12: neutrogena HydroBoost body gel cream 🌸 Product Description: This is a refreshing and ultra light formula powered by hyaluronic acid to give the skin the boost of hydration it needs. Helps lock in moisture and maintain the skin’s moisture balance. Suitable for sensitive skin. 🌸 Who can use it?: For normal to dry skin 🌸 My skin type: Very dry desert like skin😭 🌸 Price: 6500-8000 depending on the vendor. 🌸 Packaging/texture: the texture of this lotion literally feels like water 💦. Super lightweight yet so moisturising, don’t know how they did that. I got the fragranced version but the scent is not so overpowering, it smells like the ocean with a tiny bit of fragrance. 🌸 My Experience: I want to thank theeskinfriend and awo.ara for hyping up this product....babiesss, this deserves all the hype it’s getting 😍. I totally enjoyed using this product, it leaves my skin feeling moisturised and supple👌🏾. Using this, along side a body oil, I feel like I’m ready to fight all my enemies 🤣. I don’t even need to use the body oil most times because this lotion already does the job. BODY CARE REVIEWS: BODY BUTTER EDITION✨ I always tend towards butters and balms when picking out my body moisturisers because I have a dry skin on my body and I feel these work better at keeping my skin moisturised(personal opinion) 💫Bath and body works Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter: Whew, where do I start? First off, if you have sensitive skin or fragrance allergy, just look away😭. Because this product is packed with a lot of EU-26 fragrances you can think of. It is highly fragranced *highly*. Sometimes, the scent is so overpowering to the point of me sneezing🥴. Fragrance aside, I love how moisturising this makes my skin feel. Contains Shea butter and rice milk. It has a somewhat thick consistency kinda like whipped Shea butter that absorbs into the skin nicely. For moisturising, I’d give it a 3/5❤️. Would I repurchase? definitely not. 💫Neutrogena nourishing body balm with Nordic berry: This contains Shea butter and Nordic berry. Nordic Berry, a known Scandinavian superfruit, has antioxidant properties and helps nourish your dry skin. This balm didn’t lack in the area of hydration 👌🏾. It does leave your skin feeling moisturised. I prefer this balm to the body lotion(check a few posts down my feed). It’s alcohol free but still has parfum in it; at least it’s not as fragranced as the bath and body works body butter. So we can work with that. In terms of moisturising, I’d give it a 4/5👌🏾 only because the hydrating effect doesn’t last all day. Would I repurchase? Maybe sometime later. I have a bunch of body products I’m testing out currently. ✨My acne management routine ✨ ✨My skin is acne-prone, that means there’s a high chance I get breakouts every single month. Overtime, I have noticed my breakouts usually occur a week to that time of the month mostly in the form of whiteheads, so I have learnt to tweak my routine during this time. It’s always a good idea to study your skin and tweak your routine to accommodate these changes. ✨During this time, I lean towards my salicylic acid, azelaic acid, willow bark. These have pore refining and anti inflammatory properties that help keep my whiteheads and excess sebum under control. Product Review #11: Hadalabo Shirojyun Premium Whitening Lotion. 🌸 Product Description: This is a hydrating lotion that claims to suppress the formation of melanin and prevent the appearance of spots and freckles. It contains white tranexamic acid(a tyrosinase inhibitor that helps treat hyperpigmentation and acne scars) and nanosized hyaluronic acid. 🌸 Who can use it?: All skin types 🌸 My skin type: Combination/acne-prone. 🌸 Price: N8025 from shopwithteeka4 🌸 Packaging/texture: comes in a blue opaque bottle, making it a chore to measure up how much product you have left. The package is spill-proof👌🏾which I enjoy. It has a milky lightweight lotion-like texture I absolutely love ❤️. Glides on smoothly and absorbs into the skin like a dream. 🌸 My Experience: oh I have a lot to say about this product. First of, this is worth the price for 140ml. Been using it for three months and I still have quite a lot of product to last another month and a half. A little goes a looong way. In the area of hydration, chillee, this girl knows her stuff✅. I use this right after cleansing then go straight in with my sunscreen and I’m good❤️(POV: I use the missha aqua and we all know how matte and drying it can get). I want to compare it with the gokujyun lotion next; in terms of hydration. We’ll see how that goes. Now to the good stuff, I know you guys want to know if it helped brighten my spots or not😆. Welp, what do you think? Sadly, this lotion is just a whole lot of hydration and vibes my dear 😩. It was all a lie😭 How can I use something for 3 months and I don’t even notice any difference in my hyperpigmentation. The thing is paining me sha 🤣. I’ve seen a lot of people just abuse the word “purging”. They start using a diy honey face mask and they say “my skin is purging”. Darling, your skin is not purging, you’re having a bad reaction. I’ve been using this lotion for the past few days and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. My skin drinks this up😍. If you have dry dry skin, you should really try this one. - Purito Centella Unscented Serum: Everyone and their mamas love this serum. It contains 49% centella asiatica, ceramides, peptides, sodium hyaluronate and 5% niacinamide; a whole lot of barrier repair ingredients. I’m about to embark on an experiment nobody sent me 🤣 so I need all the barrier support I can get. I’m so tired of Nigerian brands and white plastic 😩. This product would have been so aesthetically pleasing in a transparent packaging, I mean look at that colour😍. Skincare is an experience for some of us...from looks, to feel, to scent, we enjoy the whole works. The package is also not very travel friendly, it spills from time to time which is annoying. I literally have to pack it in a separate bag to avoid spilling. 🌸 My Experience: I really enjoyed using this product. As the name implies it’s a gentle exfoliating liquid, very beginner friendly. I love how hydrating it is, makes my skin feel soft and plump afterwards😍. The glow it gives the next morning is unmatched❤️. I use this only twice a week at nights and it works perfectly for me. SUNSCREEN COMPARISON POST✨ I’ll be comparing two of the most loved chemical sunscreens on the block; the missha aqua sun gel SPF50+ PA++++ and the suncut UV perfect gel SPF50+ PA++++ based on 4 categories; texture/scent, price, finish and overall rating. PRICE: Missha aqua sun gel costs about 6000 for 50ml while the suncut UV perfect gel costs about 8500 for 100ml. IMO, I’d rather spend 8500 on 100ml than 6000 on 50ml. So suncut wins this round👌🏾 TEXTURE/SCENT: Missha has a milky, slightly runny texture with a strong alcohol scent but doesn’t linger for too long. While the suncut has a more creamy thick gel-like consistency and legit smells like methylated spirit; I kid you not 🤣. But same as the missha sun gel the scent isn’t overpowering and can be overlooked. They are both lightweight which I love, legit feels like you’re applying water on your skin, no cap 🧢. It’s a tie for this round🤩 FINISH: Missha sun gel has a matte finish we oily peeps all know and love. It gives your skin that smooth canvas feel but the down side is it’s drying effect in colder months. Suncut UV gel, on the other hand, has a dewy yet matte finish(like when missha sun gel and missha essence have a baby; sho get🤣), you’ll be glowing from within but with zero grease. The only con is the stickiness. This sunscreen has a sticky feel upon application which I completely hate ❌. I’ve also noticed suncut makes me sweat when I use it in extremely hot weather. They both leave zero whitecast✅ with the two finger rule and are perfect for reapplication 👌🏾. For this round, missha has my heart😍. OVERALL RATING Missha aqua sun gel: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Suncut UV perfect gel: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Generally, they’re both amazing sunscreens but I see myself reaching out to my dearly beloved missha more often. BODY CARE REVIEWS: BODY LOTIONS EDITION✨ I have very dry skin on my body so I’m always on the lookout for good body moisturisers, and 80% of the time I get disappointed 😭. I’ve been testing out these two lotions for the past 6 months and here are my thoughts. Neutrogena nourishing body lotion with nordic berry: Now, the only neutrogena products I stan with my full chest are their body products. Neutrogena be doing the doings with their body care range. This lotion has a slightly thick creamy consistency. I love how moisturising this feel on my skin. It does keep my skin hydrated throughout the day👌🏾. It’s a bit fragranced but not too over powering. Has a mild floral scent 💐. I would be repurchasing this but not anytime soon✅. The next neutrogena lotion I want to try out is the one from their hydro boost line. A lot of people seem to love it. Nivea aloe & hydration lotion: I can’t even bring myself to write a review on this product 😩. I was highly disappointed. This lotion has a more runny texture than the neutrogena. You see that 48 hours hydration on the package(it was all a lie🤣). I think it has to do with the consistency, it’s just too runny to be moisturising. Feels like it evaporates after applying it. Doesn’t even leave my skin moisturised for up to 5 hours. This too is slightly fragranced;smells like aloe Vera 🌱but it’s not over powering at all. I most certainly would not be repurchasing this product, I’ve only used this about 4 times. I think this product would be perfect for people with normal skin, if you have dry skin like mine, this won’t work. What’s your favourite body lotion? The skincare community has pushed double cleansing so hard this past years, it has slowly become the new “apply sunscreen!” “double cleanse or you’re wrong!”. 💧Is double cleansing really important? Short answer, No. Long answer, Yes🌚. I know, wait let me explain🤣 💧Double cleansing is basically the act of cleansing twice. First with a oil based cleanser or Micellar water, followed by a water based cleanser. So, unless you wear makeup every single day or you’re usually exposed to a lot of dust and sweat during the day, double cleansing is not a do or die affair. It’s not set in stone that “Thou shall double cleanse”. Your regular water based cleansers contain surfactants that can easily take off your sunscreen, dirt and sweat. 💧Now, do I double cleanse? Yes🤭. But that’s because I enjoy the feel of massaging an oil cleanser into my skin and over time I love how my skin looks and feels, I wouldn’t say it’s solely because I double cleanse but a combo of that and other steps in my routine. Plus, I honestly do not double cleanse every single day, sometimes I skip this step because it’s not that deep🤷🏾‍♀️. 💧So, if you can afford to double cleanse everyday, that’s fine, and if you can’t that’s still fine. It’s one step you can totally afford to skip. But if you have makeup on or are exposed to a lot of pollutants all through the day, please double cleanse. Product Review #9: L’homme all-in-one lotion 🌸 Product Description: this is a fine textured and non-greasy formula, easily absorbed by the skin and provides intense hydration. It also says that it effectively reduces the appearance of pores. 🌸 Who can use it?: For normal to oily skin. 🌸 My skin type: Combination/acne-prone. 🌸 Price: 1990 naira from any miniso Nigeria store. 🌸 Packaging/texture: comes in a sleek 80ml black pump type packaging. I love how sleek the bottle is 😍. The texture legit feels like water(peep the second slide). It feels more like an essence than a lotion to me. If you’re sensitive to fragrance, this is not for you. Because this baby is highly fragranced; gives off strong citrus/sugarcane🍊vibes. 🌸 My Experience: I got this mainly because of the price, less than 2000/$5🤯. I honestly do not have much to say about this product because it was just “meh” for me. Does it provide intense hydration? ❌ It’s more like a hydration booster; assists other hydrating products in your routine. I certainly would not use this as the only hydrating product in my routine because it doesn’t provide enough hydration to be considered a stand-alone hydrator. Does it reduce the appearance of pores? It didn’t reduce the appearance of my pores but it does give your skin that smooth canvas feel; credit to the dimethicone it contains. It also contains a bunch of amino acids which acts as antioxidants, soothing agents and help moisturise. I genuinely didn’t get any bang from this product, it was fun to use but I don’t think I’d be repurchasing it. 🌸 Would I be repurchasing?
