Day #1 - AMSTERDAM We took the metro train. I’ll tell you it’s the easiest way (besides biking) to get around Amsterdam. We saw the vangoghmuseum last time we were here. This time we wanted to do the rijksmuseum to see the Rembrandt collection along with other Dutch artist. The museum is lovely, as well as the gardens surrounding it. Then it was off to an early dinner. We love all kinds of different types of food. We decided namcheamsterdam looked wonderful. We hadn’t had Indian food in a long time bc our favorite restaurant in Atlanta had closed about a 1 1/2 years ago. The cocktails were excellent namcheamsterdam and the food was outstanding. This is 63! I’m grateful for another year! We had a lovely dinner at theoptimist in Atlanta last night to celebrate my birthday. It is such a good restaurant that never disappoints with delicious drinks, food and phenomenal service. It’s one of our FAVORITE restaurants to eat at. I’m hoping this weekend we can get together with the kids, grandkids and mom. The BEST gift for me is time spent with family. I’m missing my daddy but so thankful for the memories I have of him over the years. The love he instilled in me lives in my heart. I dreamed about him the other night and told him how much I had missed him. I could smell his cologne. (IYKYK - Daddy loved cologne and always had a current fragrance he would wear.) In my dream I remember hugging his neck so tight and getting a beautiful hint of sandal wood, amber and citrus. When I woke up, I swore I could smell those notes lingering in the air. I looked at it as a gift, and not to be sad. My dress is linen, comfortable, has pockets and is on SALE. This maxi is also covering up a new accessory, a knee brace I’m having to wear to keep my knee stable. An MRI tomorrow will show my orthopedic doctor what’s going on with my knee. I don’t think I’ll be doing too much dancing, but hey, welcome 63! Every time I’m with this sweet child we talk about taking care of her skin. What I’d give to have her peaches and cream skin now. It’s important to start teaching Frankie that she needs to take care of her skin, especially when she’s out in the sun. This is something that wasn’t really talked about when I was her age. Celebrate! While I was in Kuala Lumpur, my sweet friends celebrated my birthday Malaysian style. We had the opportunity to eat at a lovely Restaurant, Restoran Bijan. The meal was fabulous! We started out our first morning in Kuala Lumpur by going to eat a traditional Malaysian breakfast at Kafei Dia. Then we headed of to see the worlds second largest building, Merdeka 118. As we walked from there, we headed through Kwai Chai Hong which depicts the historic life surrounding Chinatown. Next up was tasting ice coffee from different region in Malaysia. frankeming who hosted us in Malaysia did such a wonderful job planning out our days. We had our private driver pick us up, and we drove to the Batu Caves to see the Murugan Statue. Look at this beautiful area that is also free to the public. We climbed the rainbow stairs, visited with the local monkeys, and made our way to the caves at the top. We headed back to our hotel to relax and get ready for dinner.
