There are 3 main reasons and there are ways to tackle all of them!

Not getting shortlisted? Consider your personal statement.

Not getting the job? Ask for feedback and if not, reflect on both your formal interview and your interview lessons.

Resources mentioned in this video:
- Personal statement proof-read and edit
- Interview Preparation Bundle
- (Also helpful) Interview lesson plans

Have you ever thought about the schools as readers? And what will make them draw and connect with you?? 🤔

This is huge in terms of writing your introduction as it needs to be one that connects, shows you off as a person and makes a good first impression.

Questions in the job hunting process 👇

School visits - use them to show off, give a good first impression, gain insights into the school and feel if you're a good fit.

Interview brief - get more details on the class, see what resources or support you have available (if applicable), show that you're proactive.

Do you have a default question to ask when doing school visits? I'd love to know what it is!

I'm also really enjoying these, so do leave any questions or comments below for me to respond to.

How can you make sure a school is right for you?

- Research
- Check elements of teaching that you are strongly passionate, e.g. behaviour. I bet goodmorningmsfosterltd could give loads of ideas on this-

- Visit the school
- How welcome you were made to feel
- Their interview brief - how demanding is it?

Simple, but EFFECTIVE tip for job hunting 😉

If I had to start job hunting again, I would do this again because I KNOW it helps.

Take my training year, I received more interviews in March when I still had months to go before qualifying, than I did later in the academic year.

Also, this is Part 2 in the series, so if you haven't seen Part 1, make sure to go check it out!

PS. No spoilers here, but if you watch to the end and you listen, there's a surprise in it for you 🤭

Best of luck in your job hunt guys, it's an exciting time of year!

If you can't answer these questions 🛑🙅

Being able to answer these questions will allow you to be focused in your personal statement on how you want to be portrayed by the reader (the school).

Remember, you're against other candidates and what schools are looking for is value. Value isn't always linked to experience, so having a good grasp on these questions and reflecting on them will greatly enhance the quality of your application.

This took me two hours to make 😭

Going through years of videos and pictures got me all emotional. It's been an insane journey, from almost leaving my teacher training in 2019, to now having supported hundreds of teachers into the career and taught 700+ children.

With the new year, I wanted to introduce myself for anyone that doesn't know my story. There have been highs and very much lows, so I do understand the struggles.

Petite Primary was built on a foundation of wanting to provide support. The support I didn't feel I had. The support I wanted. The support I reached out for but didn't receive.

So if you're looking for jobs or somebody that understands teaching and job hunting, I hope you'll let me be a part of your journey, as you are of mine ❤️ 2025-01-08 01:11:32 This took me two h.. 70 +103% 5 -31%
2025 ins and outs 👇

As well as my words for the year, I wanted to share my ins and outs with you.
They're very much mentally and emotionally based where I identified some of the bad habits I had that would influence me mentally and turn them into something I want to be encouraged for in 2025.

One of those things is feeling part of a community again. Since doom scrolling has become a thing, we often scroll past without interacting with others.

I was going through screenshots from like 2 years ago when I had barely 500 followers and I would have huge conversations with people, they'd comment and me back, they'd share stories and experiences etc. Now it feels like tumbleweed on here 🥴 I'm going to make a conscious effort to be better at supporting others too.

So, let's chat. What are your ins and outs for this year? Or if you have a similar post up, let me know so I can interact with it xx

Team effort all 🙌

Shall we start 2025 with introductions?! ☺️👋 Hello! I’m Annelies, and it’s SO lovely to meet you!

✱ I live in Dorset with my partner in the flat (not pictured) we bought just over a year ago! 🏡 It’s been so fun making it our own.

✱ I'm part of TGMC's team thegoodmorningclub_
goodmorningmsfosterltd and have also created interview videos for the platform!

✱ I’m a real bargain hunter and just LOVE the feeling of finding a deal or spotting a yellow sticker in the shop. Is that weird? Probably...but it’s the thrill that counts, right? 😜

✱ I’m quite an emotional hoarder and hold attachment to things easily. With no children of my own, I find it SO hard to bin things my pupils have made me—even if it’s just a rough heart on a scrap of paper. Any tips for dealing with this? Let me know because my desk drawers are getting seriously FULL. 🤭

✱ That said, I’ve been trying to be more mindful about what I bring home or buy. Love a bargain, but sometimes the best deal is leaving it on the shelf. 😉 Instead, I’d much rather spend money on an *experience*—which fits perfectly because my partner and I are on a mission to find some BARGAIN travel deals this year so we can explore more. 🌍✈️

✱ I’m a December baby (Sagittarius ♐️, but I’m clueless about that says about me). Are you into astrology? If so, what does that mean about me?

✱ I’ve had the absolute privilege of collaborating with the educationgovuk before, and I’d LOVE to do it again. For the past 3.5 years, I’ve been all-in on helping teachers secure jobs, and I’d love to use that knowledge to support solving the recruitment and retention crisis. 💪

✱ I have quite the entrepreneurial spirit and love to find new ways to earn and save money. We have a house savings goal this year 🥴 BIG dreams, but 2025 feels promising 🏠

✱ Recently, I discovered “casual magic” through unjadedjade , and WOW—it’s changed my outlook! 🌟 It’s all about appreciating the small moments of joy, and I couldn’t recommend her podcast more. It’s made me feel so grateful for the little things every day. ✨

That’s me! Tell me something about you, and thank you so much for being here! 💗💗💗

Hopping on the trend 📈

It's probably not the most positive trend, but I always think the last day of the year is good to reflect on the highlights, but also have a slice of humble pie and think of moments we can learn and grow from.

My year as a summary 👇

2024 started off rough with hospital visits and surgery in February but I can't complain! Surgery didn't bankrupt me (huge shout out and thanks to NHS), I recovered well and had no complications.

The rest of the year was filled with school and working on Petite Primary as well as trying to make sense of all my ideas 💡

I'm grateful for meeting with old friends again, grateful for opportunities that came up at the end of 2024 and forever grateful for my family and boyfriend.

Here's to 2025!
