💜💜We have now entered the PURPLE ERA💜💜 Simply because I said so and it’s my Birthday!! The color purple was my favorite color as a kid. It represents joy, innocence and discovery for me. I want to make the next year about authenticity and taking chances. Instead of writing a dissertation about the past year, I’ve come up with 10 things I’ve learned for 31 years: 1. Sensitivity is a super power. Feeling deeply and needing to express that doesn’t make you weak. 2. SING ANYWAY! Regardless of who hears, cares or sees, it’s your gift and you MUST use it for YOU and GOD. (Thanks to all the people who remind me of that) 3. Do what you wanna do! Don’t plan life based on others. 4. LOVE isn’t a show for others. But the good kind will show you that you can be vulnerable and be accepted anyway. 🤞🏾 5. You’re only capable of what you’re willing to TRY. 6. To have a FRIEND, you have to be a friend. Continue to water your friendships wisely and don’t be afraid to reconnect or grow new ones. 7. AGE is not a barrier or really even that important, it simply marks time. Don’t let it limit you. 8. When you execute well, opportunities come! Don’t let perfection stop your execution. 9. Confidence is a Verb. You don’t have it if you don’t DO! (Shout out to Ellard) 10. STOP waiting! Put out that music, promote that art, share your story, ask your questions! Because the first thing you do will not be the last thing you do and people need to SEE it! 💙✨🦋Somewhere Fest 2025 is a warp! We made it! This year was a whirlwind. It took so much to get here and I’m honestly so proud of myself for pushing through and leaning into growth as a performer. We went from a 4 piece band last year to doubling in size, adding vocalists and some new band members! Shout out to mystro316, Micah, benjiestradacruz jcoleman5_ , lettyray24, mrsjordan82721 and t_musiclove for dedicating your time, energy and creativity. I couldn’t have done this without y’all. 🫶🏾 And of course, we embraced the Blue Era 🩵💙 (more on what that means later). Most of all, thank you to EVERYONE that showed up! The thing I can’t get ENOUGH of is constructive criticism! Seriously, I love it. I was so grateful to have bigsam87 and profmarrque at my rehearsal last night to give me some much needed pointers. The greatest takeaway from the entire rehearsal was to HAVE SOME FUN! When you’re performing and know that eyes and ears are on you, perfectionism and overthinking can take over. But the little goofy moments are what make you, you. I’m more than just a sweet girl that sings nicely, I’m animated, hilarious and thoughtful. By far, the most memorable moment of Treefort Fest 2025 for me was getting to witness and MEET durandbernarr 😩😩😩! He was the absolute sweetest and gave me some advice as an artist that I will hold close to me. When introducing myself, I said that I also performed at the festival on a smaller stage and Durand made sure to correct me and remind me that regardless of the size of the stage, it’s not small. You never know the impact you’re having on the audience you get to be in front of. Day 27: It’s all Vanity In 2017, I did my first 30 day posting challenge, but this time, I challenged myself to be consistent, confident, fearless by posting content and trying something new each weekend. This little rap came out of day 9, because after about a week of posting, I was seeing a dip in likes, comments and views. Feeling discouraged, I abandoned the challenge shortly after. I’m grateful for this little rap though because it pops into my head when I need some encouragement. It helps me to remind myself that people’s approval and gratification are not a measure of my value. These photos were taken in my car over the past year (give or take) and it reminds me how possible it is to transform into whatever you want to be. Nov 10: Vulnerability Being vulnerable is a gift that feels like danger. It feels like everyone who’s privileged enough to see you as you are can determine whether you grow or crumble. Im learning that vulnerability can be a way you connect with others though. To let people know they’re not alone. This weekend I had a really vulnerable moment when playing the game “We’re not really strangers”. It was uncomfortable and honestly, I wanted to quit and hide. Nov 8: Adult Spelling Bee! Today im grateful I allowd myself to step outside of my comfort zone and do something out of the ordinary. I competed in an adult spelling bee at the Wichita Public Library. I got out on the 4th round on the word Juxtaposition 🙄. Nov 4: Small Wins Matter Today I’m simply grateful that I was able to keep a small promise to myself: To get up early and go workout. I’ve been working on being more consistent and disciplined for myself recently. I am very capable of getting up early or putting in long hours for others. But, oftentimes I don’t give myself that same dedication. So, this morning instead of sleeping in, when my alarm went off I literally said to myself “Don’t give up on yourself today, this matters”.
