Lunch date with Matt. We try to do a lunch date a couple Friday’s a month during the school year just to sit, without kids, no work and catch up. It’s hard to for us to coordinate evenings dinner dates. Too many kid activities, schedule conflicts and we are usually exhausted. It’s so so so very important to support local small businesses. Today we were treated to a *surprise* happy first day of school - ice cream social by katonahreadingroom ⭐️ I texted a couple of Charlie’s friends and we all had a wonderful meetup for ice cream! 🍦 These are core memories, this is what makes our sweet town what it is. These little surprise treats hosted by - SMALL BUSINESSES! you don’t see target or Starbucks or anyone doing this. Because they don’t know these kids who live here. Small businesses owners watch our kids grow up. I encourage YOU… all of you to please support your local shops, your small businesses. And if you are local to me… please stop by and see Gretchen and Peter and their amazing cast of lovely characters who make up the Katonah Reading Room 🐉- and purchase something. We start school tomorrow! Charlie starts 2nd grade and the MOTO is now a 7th grader! What! Yes! I was so honored to be interviewed by the nypost to talk about school PTOs! I love being involved in my kids school - so I can have an impact and help bring creativity, arts, and just childhood fun for my kids. Buuut… for parents who can’t be physically present… please please don’t beat yourself up over not physically being there. We are a village parents. The Venmo parents are sooo important! The passing of time is not lost on me. I am fully aware of how fleeting time/life can be. I don’t want to be ‘THAT mom’ but I want to tell you… these kids are babies for a very very short time. Don’t stress the mess, the crying, the ‘takes forever to get anywhere’ because very soon… they will do everything themselves and we (parents) will just be couriers for their life. So shower these babies with love and most of all patience… teach them patience. Because they will then in turn treat you with patience. Not being cliche… but goodness… time flies by. Hey Girl Haaaay! 🌻 How are we doing friends? I’m talking of us friends in our 40’s with kids in middle school and elementary school. It’s a whole life vibe. When summer camp options are no options and the kids travel sports take over your life- and everyone takes turns being sick-so your whole summer is filled with doctors visits and strep tests and then you - the mom- gets a positive test for COVID! Is this still happening? ( no quarantine) but the exhaustion, cough and sleeping is overwhelming. My goodness! We are ok mamas. Are we ok mamas? Summer at the pool … again! Churchin it! 🌟 Things are going great lately. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… grief and happiness can live together at the same time in the same space and once we realize this we can stop feeling guilt. Guilt for not fully enjoying a happy moment. Or having a happy moment being ruined because you feel guilt of grief. So here we are. Happiness has been winning a lot lately. We have been running on - a million- for the last few months. I think this is the stage of our lives. The kids are thriving, our lives are at a focused plateau, (things are coming up… but in time), and we are just keeping up with the schedules of our lives - sports, kids, and more sports and kids! Our sweetest Charlie girl finally gets her chance!! 🏆 After years of following the MOTO around and watching all his flag football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and baseball games… Charlie FINALLY owned her own space! The HUSKIES won the league championships today! Charlie somehow ended up on a 2nd/3rd grade team (as the only 1st grader) and crushed it! Her coaches are amazing, her teammates never made her feel like she was young and didn’t belong and the overall experience was so inclusive! Thank you KLBS! We loved every second of this season!!
