September in Milan is a season of its own.
Between late-summer light and the first hint of autumn, the city shows its contrasts: golden afternoons, sudden rains, streets filling again after the August pause.

This is the time when Milan rediscovers its rhythm — cafés buzzing, exhibitions reopening, fashion weeks approaching. A city both hectic and beautiful, caught between work and style, history and modernity.

📸 Scenes from a September Milan.

The long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada will bring its cameras to Milan this fall. According to the sources, filming is scheduled for October 6–18 across some of the city’s most iconic locations. Rumors had been circulating among Milan insiders for weeks — and now they are officially confirmed.

The first casting call will take place on September 16 at RG Showroom (Riccardo Grassi), a space well known in the city’s fashion circles. The production is expected to select over 2,000 extras, with a preference for those already working in fashion, design, communication, and events.

What about the scenes themselves? Details remain scarce, but insiders suggest at least one massive sequence in the Brera district, potentially involving around 900 people — a cinematic takeover of one of Milan’s most atmospheric neighborhoods.

Costumes mark perhaps the sharpest shift. In 2006, the film’s looks were created by Patricia Field, already a legend thanks to Sex and the City. For the sequel, the task passes to her longtime protégé Molly Rogers, who also styled And Just Like That… — a show remembered for some criticism surrounding its wardrobes.

The Devil Wears Prada 2, then, is more than just a film set. It is Milan playing itself as one of the global capitals of style. And beyond the debates about costumes, the anticipation remains: we are waiting for Miranda, Andy, and Emily — reunited once again on screen.

What does a perfect Sunday in Milan look like?

For us, it always starts with art. If we are in the city, there has to be a museum on the agenda. Today it was the fondazioneluigirovati, a favorite of ours.

And then, as tradition demands — an aperitivo. One of our go-to spots is portraitmilano, just around the corner, where the ritual feels both local and timeless.

All of it within our neighborhood, which makes it even more special.

Milan mourns Giorgio Armani. To speak of this city and omit his name would be unthinkable. Among his colleagues he was called Signor Armani; to the press he was Re Giorgio. In both roles, he shaped the way Milan looks at itself — discreet, rigorous, unmistakably elegant.

When he first arrived to Milan from Piacenza, he confessed he “didn’t know how to draw — only the ornament I had learned at school. What I had was taste.”

That taste became his discipline. At La Rinascente rinascente, in the theatre of its shop windows, he trained his eye. Later, recalling the restless Milan of the 1960s and ’70s, he would say: “Milano ti sfida” — Milan challenges you. And it was then, almost shyly, that he confessed: “I began to love Milan, because I felt I was where things happen.”

From that love grew a new language of elegance. Few designers ever change how the world actually dresses; Mr Armani did. He softened the line of the suit, proved that “soft power” could be sartorial, and coined greige — that muted blend of grey and beige that became his signature. Think of Milan’s marble and stone: the Duomo, the façades, the city itself speaks in greige. Signor Armani simply gave those colours a name, and turned them into a global code of understatement.

This weekend, Milan gathers at the camera ardente in Armani/Teatro, via Bergognone 59, open 9:00–18:00 on 6 and 7 September. On Monday, Milan, Piacenza and Pantelleria will observe a day of mourning.

At The Milan Times, we only feature places we truly love. These are the five we keep coming back to — elegant, timeless, unmistakably Milanese.

1. Da Bolognese dalbolognese — Via Amedei, 8
An institution of Milanese dining. Inside a refined palazzo with a beautiful cortile, it’s a place where tradition, discretion, and elegance come together — equally suited for business lunches or long evening meals.

2. Palazzo Parigi palazzoparigi_milano — Corso di Porta Nuova, 1
Luxury defined in the very heart of Milan. Known for its grand lounge and timeless dining rooms, this is where aperitivi turn into dinners, and dinners turn into unforgettable evenings.

3. Bice Milano bicemilano — Via Borgospesso, 12
For decades, Bice has embodied the Milanese table: classic recipes, refined service, and a style that feels both traditional and enduringly chic. A restaurant that remains as relevant today as ever.

4. Gloria Osteria gloria.osteria — Via Tivoli, 3
Playful, bold, and irresistibly Instagrammable. Gloria brings a touch of glamour to Brera, mixing vibrant interiors with Italian classics reimagined — a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate.

5. Antica Osteria Cavallini anticaosteriacavallini1934 — Via Mauro Macchi, 2
A piece of old Milan. Famous for its fish and beloved for its hidden garden, Cavallini is the kind of osteria where time slows down and tradition is served generously.

✨ Yes, all five lean toward elegance — but isn’t that exactly what Milan does best? Which one would you try first?

More than five centuries later, Leonardo’s most fragile experiment still holds the power to stop time.

Tucked inside the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper is not just a painting — it’s a legend etched into the very soul of Milan.

Between 1495 and 1498, Leonardo abandoned the safe rules of fresco and risked everything on an experiment: tempera and oil applied directly to dry plaster. The vision was daring, the result luminous — yet fragile from the start. Within decades, the masterpiece began to fade, as if too intense to last.

Centuries of misguided retouching, neglect, and even the devastation of World War II nearly silenced it forever. In 1943, bombs tore through the convent, leaving rubble where the ceiling once stood. And yet, against all odds, the wall with Leonardo’s vision survived — scarred, but unbroken.

The turning point came with a 21-year restoration (1978–1999). Layer by layer, experts stripped away centuries of dust, varnish, and repainting, revealing fragments of Leonardo’s true hand. What remains today is delicate, incomplete, yet astonishingly alive — a work that still commands silence the moment you stand before it.

What makes The Last Supper eternal is not only its survival, but its humanity. Christ’s calm presence against the storm of disbelief, fear, and outrage on the apostles’ faces. A single sentence — “One of you will betray me” — captured in gestures that feel as urgent today as they did 500 years ago.

✨ For Milan, it is more than art. It is resilience. It is memory. It is the city’s eternal heartbeat.

A palazzo once lived by Versace. Now a club built in Wilde’s spirit.

The Wilde the_wilde_milan occupies Villa del Platano at Via Dei Giardini 16, Brera — once the home of Santo Versace, now reimagined by architect Fabrizio Casiraghi, blending Milanese rationalism with subtle Art Deco.

Inside: four levels of cultivated spaces — Nina (Latin‑Japanese dishes), AVA rooftop (seasonal Mediterranean with boulevard views), Library (quiet breakfasts), Arturo’s cigar lounge, plus rotating cultural programming.

Membership tiers are available on the Club’s website.

Founders hail from London’s The Arts Club, with a vision to expand to New York, London, Los Angeles and beyond.

Why it matters: This isn’t nightlife. It’s a global cultural salon — refined, discreet, artful. It’s Milan without the guidebook, but with full curation.

Villa Flori has always stood quietly between Como and Cernobbio — both geographically and in spirit. Set on a rare promontory that juts into the lake, this 19th-century villa offers one of the most singular perspectives on Lake Como. Pied dans l’eau, in the truest sense.

Inside, time lingers. The room where Garibaldi once slept still holds its original stove and floors. The past is not staged here; it simply never left.

Today, a new chapter opens. The understated charm of its architecture, the stillness of the garden with its towering cedars and weathered statues — all now frame the refined elegance of Ristorante Raimondi.

As Milan’s summer heat rises, so does the intensity of global headlines. Amidst the balance between carefree sunny days and heavy news, we seek moments of clarity and contemplation. Here are three exquisite art exhibitions in Milan offering thoughtful reflection, empathy, and profound artistic insights

📍 pirellihangarbicocca / ICARUS by Yukinori Yanagi

Inspired by the myth, the Japanese artist invites us to reflect on nationalisms, wars, and the paradoxes of modern society. You can spot a swarm made of world flags but ants know no borders. A DIY war kit. A bomb like a chandelier balancing above your own heads. Suggestive clouds that aren’t clouds at all. Man always looks at the infinitely small or the infinitely large, losing sight of his own humanity.

✨ Special mention to the museum’s Kids’ Exhibition Guide — clear, thoughtful, and bold enough to ask children (and adults): invent your own flag, what would it look like?

📍fabbricadelvapore / CHAOS AND CONTEMPORARY MAN TENSION by emanuele.giannelli

These figures gaze beyond—toward a new frontier, a new horizon. It’s human nature: never fully satisfied with what we know or what we have. Man today is hybridized and consumed by technology that stands between us and our own ability to feel. But this isn’t a critique. Artists doesn’t judge the present, they simply let us observe and question ourselves.

📍mudec / IL VOSTRO CIELO FU MARE, IL VOSTRO MARE FU CIELO by adrian_paci

Journeys, migrations, and diasporas continuously shape our shared history. Paci immerses us in a mosaic of sea-toned fragments— newspaper pictures of migrant shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. A glance at the sea shows our common fate. This site-specific work introduces “TRAVELOGUE” exhibition, a visual diary from imagined voyages to explorations, to those forced paths where leaving one’s homeland is not a choice.

🎨 Thoughtfully curated and beautifully captured by ale.baranzini, our Art & Culture contributor.

Everyone thinks San Siro is all about football and concerts. But Milan hides another world right next door: horse racing. 🐎✨

While famous tracks like Ascot (UK) or Longchamp (Paris) get all the international hype, Milan’s San Siro racecourse has been hosting thrilling races since 1920. The crowd? A mix of true horse lovers, local owners, and those in the know.

Most weekends, especially in summer, you’ll find real races here — open to everyone, not just the elite. Place a bet, sip a spritz, and watch the action from historic stands surrounded by greenery. Sometimes the winning ticket is yours! 😉

It’s a piece of authentic Milan that’s hiding in plain sight — and definitely worth experiencing at least once.

Just 15 km from Milan, Monza offers royal history, medieval streets, and one of Europe’s largest enclosed parks.

The Parco di Monza spans over 720 hectares — larger than Central Park — originally designed by Napoleon in 1805.

In the heart of the city stands the Duomo di Monza, home to the legendary Iron Crown of Lombardy, once worn by Charlemagne and Napoleon.

Nearby, the Arengario, a 13th-century town hall, still anchors Monza’s historic center.

There are places in Milan that don’t show up in tourist guides. remedy.milano is one of them. At first glance, it might seem like a beautiful wine bar with a top-tier list and the right glass for every pour. But that’s just the surface. What lies beneath is a whole world for those who appreciate rare finds and private pleasures.

Let’s start with the numbers: over 6,000 labels and 18,000 bottles, handpicked from Italy and France, with a special love for Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Champagne. They rest in what Remedy calls their Wine Library — yes, a library. Temperature-controlled, softly lit, with slanted shelves and just the right humidity. You can visit it — if you know to ask.

But what really sets this place apart? A cigar room. In Milan, that’s almost unheard of unless you’re staying at a five-star hotel. Four deep armchairs, a premium selection of spirits, and that quiet, timeless atmosphere where cigars make sense.

And if you’re looking for something even more private… there’s a secret room. Literally hidden, speakeasy-style, accessible from the cellar or a discreet entrance. It seats up to eight, is fully equipped with a screen, and it’s perfect for both business meetings and intimate gatherings. A place where you can talk, plan, or just unwind — glass in hand, away from the world. 2025-04-17 16:05:27 T.. 184 -69% 14 +21%
Fashion Week is about being seen.
Design Week is about seeing — and feeling.

Where Fashion Week thrives on visibility and speed, Design Week is a slower burn. It’s still a spectacle — but not one made just for the camera. It’s a spectacle meant to be walked through, touched, absorbed.

Across Milan, installations unfold in courtyards, former factories, palazzos, and storefronts. Each space asks something different of you — not just to look, but to stay, to reflect, to feel.

At Fornasetti fornasetti, surreal objects become spatial metaphors.

At Poltrona Frau poltronafrauofficial, elegance becomes something physical — not performed, but lived.

At Drift studio.drift x Audi audi_italia, light and motion are choreographed into stillness, into thought.

Of course, the biggest fashion houses are here too. Their installations are polished, powerful, and strategically placed — often to expand visibility or position themselves in the broader conversation around lifestyle and design. But the essence of Design Week lies beyond brand alignment.

Because Design Week is not driven by trends — it’s driven by ideas.

It doesn’t tell you what to desire. It asks you what matters.
It’s not for everyone. And that’s exactly its strength.

In a culture obsessed with speed, Design Week insists on presence.

In a city fluent in fashion, it offers something rarer: space to think.

Today is the final day to visit Invisible Harmonies // Armonie Invisibili, a project by 5vie_milano that brings design, craftsmanship, art, and new creative dialogues back to the heart of Milan’s historic center.

For those discovering it for the first time: 5VIE — short for Cinque Vie (“Five Streets”) — is one of Milan’s oldest districts. A place where Roman foundations, artisan workshops, and contemporary design coexist, quietly shaping the soul of the city.

beni_rugs presents Intersection, a collection co-designed with Paris- and Marrakech-based architecture studio studioko, inspired by Morocco’s weaving traditions and the poetry of everyday objects.

Artist hivaalizadeh, for theflat_massimocarasi, reinterprets Persian carpet-making through layers of colored synthetic hair, creating interactive, visual veils.

pietrachiarastudio showcases Nouveau Réalisme, with its iconic Anne columns finished in an Yves Klein–inspired blue that subtly mirrors the windows of the venue.

Girotondo by sara__ricciardi in collaboration with ceramicherometti & nodusrug, tells stories of love as imagined by children — through hand-drawn vases and carpets that reflect pure emotion.

Prendete & Mangiate, curated by Carolina Levi at spaziogiallointeriors, explores the table as a poetic and conceptual space of gathering.
