🐾 8 months with Samoa III 🐾 Time is flying — and so is he (literally, he just took his first plane ride ✈️). Samoa is a cuddler, an ice chewer, and a very opinionated fetch player. He gets especially excited around kids and people in wheelchairs, “talks back” when he wants attention, and now heads to the door when it’s bathroom time. In June, he came with me to Florida for my mom’s surprise birthday party and a sailing trip. We flew Southwest, which partners with Canine Companions, and Samoa handled the plane like a pro. But the experience also showed me how misunderstood service dogs still are—too often confused with emotional support animals, or met with comments like, “You don’t look disabled,” which is not just rude but dangerous.
