📊FACT: The majority of women I have spoken to, think that being more active means going to the gym, attending classes, swimming or walking. 

This tells me that there is a limited view of what exercise can actually involve.

Fear of being ridiculed, feeling of not-belonging, worries about what other people could think and “look stupid”, fear of not looking like other people.

Guess what? It’s absolutely fine feeling like this, it’s natural, it’s OK. I have been feeling like this so many times I cannot even count it. 🫣

I recently had to move home. The way how it happened was brutal. In less than 3 weeks I had to leave the house that was my home for 3 years and change habits, and obviously area. And gym.
My old gym wasn’t modern or super equipped, but  it felt comfy. It was my precious place.
My new gym is too busy and full of young people. And, even my effort to wake up very at 5am before going at work doesn’t help much considering there is always a lot of people already queuing for machines. 
The very first time I stepped in I felt overwhelmed, “OMG, is it gonna be this way, from now on?”

BUT 👉🏻 Sometimes we just forget why we are doing what we are doing, and we need to remind ourself of our inner motivations, despite what life is throwing at us. 

If we forget about gyms and classes for just a minute, and we open our mind to the possibility that many other activities can be done instead, all those barriers will fall away naturally 👋🏻

👩‍💻I have a very easy exercise for you to do today:

➡️ Look up for activities available in your local area and online. You will be surprised at how much is available on your doorstep or even inside your home that appeals you. Going in a gym full of young and already skinny people is NOT the only option you have. And the best part is that it doesn’t have to be at crazy hours, of far away, or every single day. You are in charge, you choose what is ok and what could work around your schedule.

1️⃣ NO “DIET” MENTALITY: For many people “dieting” means  following a regime of a strict meal plan with a set of rules that often leads to disorders. When you decide to lose weight to be healthier don’t say that you are on a diet. Learn how to eat smart. Learn the concept of variety, balance and moderation and be the expert. 
2️⃣ MAKE PEACE WITH FOOD: Give yourself permission to eat any food you like. Do not label food in good or bad, there is no such a thing. The tongue ever turns to the aching tooth, right? If you deny yourself that piece of cake, 90% chances are you will end up eating the all lot because of the punitive feeling you impose to yourself. Be free.

YOU NEED FOOD TO BURN FAT!

Let’s start from the basics:
How do calories affect your weight? 🧐

To maintain weight: Balance the calories you consume with calories you burn.

For weight loss: Consume fewer calories than you burn.

For weight gain: Consume more calories than your body uses.

With this in mind YES, if your goal is to lose weight (better saying lose fat) you have to be on calories deficit. BUT. 

But creating a calorie deficit that’s too large can backfire because your body is programmed for survival. Severely limiting calories can make your body think it’s entering a famine and that it need to do more with fewer calories. 

Bottom line: Your body adapts and uses fewer calories to perform the same task so you will: 

❌ Starving yourself unnecessarily 
❌ Starving yourself with 0 results
❌ Storing fat 
❌ Giving up 

Now, unless you have a medical condition that requires to follow a very-low calorie plan (and even in that case must be medically supervised) you need to fuel your body not only if your goal is weigh loss but for your overall health.

JUDGING HEALTH BY WHAT WE SEE IS DANGEROUS.

“You look so well” or “Wow, You’ve lost so much weight” are harmless phrases and maybe even a compliment in someone eyes.

But assuming someone is ok just because we don’t see them in visible excruciating pain is dangerous. Many of these conditions can deeply affect people’s lives.

I don’t even remember when I started to notice dimples in my thighs and butt. It’s like they have always been there. What I remember vividly tho is me choosing my clothes so I could cover the parts of my body I didn’t like.

You need to remember this, because it’s something that very easily slip out our mind.

I have been there, many many times. I joined challenges online just because I was admiring that coach so much I was thrived by the wrong motivation. 
I wanted to be like her. But guess what, it didn’t happen. 
What happened instead is that I realised I was doing it for the wrong reasons, and I started working on myself, comparing to my best performances and changing my mindset. I realised I am unique, and I decided it was time to grow some love and acceptance for myself.

So, recently I’ve tried this seasoned chicken which is amazing 🤩 I thought I could make a nutritious dinner out of it and I can say it worked! Building a complete meal is easier than expected: all it takes is combine carbs, fat and protein, and a good portion of veggies.

You deserve it.
One of the reasons why self-care js left by the wayside is because people feel guilty doing it. But self-care is not selfish, it’s exactly the opposite of that. It’s simply taking care of yourself. There’s no room for overthinking it.

Here is a list of 5 self-love act you can start to consider doing, every day:

1️⃣ Allow yourself a treat, it’s not a biscuit or an ice cream that will ruin your results, instead you will create the perfect balance for consistency. Deprivation of your favourite food will set you up for failure, please eat that damn macaron!! 😜

2️⃣ Sleep at least 8-hours a night. I know, easy to say but a nightmare to put in practice. Let’s just say for now that at least we should try to get the best restful time from our sleep. 

3️⃣ Put down your phone and go pick up a book, or at least stop scrolling social media feeds and open Kindle instead. Reading fires up your imagination, open doors of new knowledge and above all it helps calm down and relax. 

 4️⃣ Walk more. You burn calories, you strengthen your cardiovascular system, you lower your sugar blood and it’s a lovely way to relax. Get off the bus a few stops before yours, walk to the grocery store, walk your dog, and if you don’t have one go for a stroll anyway!

When you think about carbohydrates what comes in your mind? “Good carbs, bad carbs, low carbs..”? 
Good carbs and bad carbs are just a popular jargon. All carbohydrates food can have a place in healthy meals and snacks, with wise planning and some limits of course! 

But, obviously not all carbs are the same. Switching to more whole grains with their higher fiber content as part of healthy eating may help you manage your weight as well. 

Here is a selection of some whole grains I eat to hit carbs my macros and I love it! They are also absolutely delicious and cheap, which is a plus those days.

Many friends ask me how I manage to have this fancy breakfasts so early in the morning.. they say “I have no time” but guess what? I don’t have time either! 🫤
I’m working, studying, have a very active fitness routine.

Meal prep is something that I started to be familiar with early this year and I’m glad I’ve found a way to master it. My life has changed a lot, and it’s much more easy to stay on track and focused on my healthy goals. 
This overnight oatmeal was prepared in 5 minutes time, so quick and easy it’s impossible to make excuses. 

Do you have 5 minutes to invest so you can wake up tomorrow and have a delicious and nutritious breakfast?!

Recipes alert 🚨 

🔹50 gr whole rolled oats
🔹 150 ml milk (Soya, Oat, Almond, Hazelnut, Coconut)
🔹3/4 tablespoons 0% Fat yogurt (I choosed the light toffee fat free from Muller)
🔹 20 gr Linwoods cold milled flaxseed, almond, Brazilian nuts, walnuts &CoQ10 (optional, you can add just some almonds)
🔹 10/15 Blueberries 🫐 

Oh, the cherry on top: a Kitkat bar 😜

How to eat smart away from home? 🤯

A quick meal at a fast food chain, a food truck, the company cafeteria or a fast casual lunch during work-break doesn’t mean you have to abandon your healthy intentions ‼️‼️‼️

The good news ➡️ the restaurant scene is changing: many chefs are meeting expectations and demand for fresh flavour, healthier menu options with higher quality foods and more variety of vegetables, fruits and whole grains on their menu 🍽

To enjoy a healthy meal choose the right place to eat. A salad bar for instance can serve up a perfect healthy meal. The rainbow 🌈 of vegetables and fruits is not only a calorie bargain, it’s also loaded with vitamins, folate, finer, phytonutrients and antioxidants. 

That said a salad bar plate can top out at more than 1000 calories 👀 depending on your choices and portions 🤕 ✖️✖️

Where do excessive calories come from? Not from lettuce, rocket, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables but from the dressing! 

Along with higher fat toppings such as bacon, fat cheese, fried onions, full fat mayonnaise.. 

To control calories:

✅ Start with a base of dark green leafy vegetables. They supply  nutrient and phytonutrients.

✅ Spoon on plentiful brightly coloured vegetables fruits and beans.

✅ Pump it with lean protein foods: beans, peas, lean meat, turkey, salmon, shrimp, eggs, cottage cheese, tuna, yogurt or vegan choices. 

✅ Dress lightly! Options to fat dressing: lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar will help your body absorb some of the vitamins in your veggies.

Weight loss is a goal that can be achieved by many many pathways. Cutting one macronutrient is not going to accelerate the journey. 🤐
We do need carbs to give energy to our body to function, we need to feed our 🧠 with some healthy sugars in order to stay focused! 
Not eating carbs can be a respectable preference or a response to a disease, but it can’t be seen as a faster way to lose fat. 
What helps us losing fat is a balanced calories deficit diet, nothing else matter here ✨
I love carbs because it’s what gives me the energy to workout 🏋🏻‍♂️
