ADOPTABLE: Lucy, Chihuahua mix, 46th & Vernon Blvd., Queens, NY • “Lucy is adoptable through Waggy Tail Rescue. She’s on her third day now (as a foster dog). Lucy is friendly! All I know is she came from California—they found her on the street. We have what they call “Foster Angels,” which means people who travel and help transport animals. That’s how I started. It’s just people who volunteer their time. She is still afraid of other dogs, but she’s friendly with people and kids. She’s a cuddle bug.” waggytailrescue 2025-10-12 01:56:52 ADO.. 34,790 -40% 185 -50%
Hugo & Gaston, French Bulldogs (9 y/o & 5 y/o), Gantry Plaza State Park, Queens, NY • “Hugo had soft tissue sarcoma, and they had to cut off a piece of his shoulder blade, so he can’t walk very far. Hugo’s an angel, and Gaston is the natural crack-head – he’s crazy. I just don’t think we deserve dogs. They’re just amazing. They don’t care if you’re having a bad day or a great day; they love you the same. My ex-husband told me that I loved them more than him – it’s true.” hugo_and_the_beast

Charlie, Chihuahua mix (11 y/o) Rockaway Brewing Company, Queens, NY • “She just had a bath, so she’s ready for her close-up. She does not like the bath — she tries to jump out on my arms immediately. She was from California, I think by way of Mexico – my girlfriend flew over to California, found her, and fell in love and took her back. Every time I walk around here, she pulls me into this bar because she knows they have treats. When my girlfriend and I first started dating, she (Charlie) just immediately was like, ‘You’re warm, I’ll sit on your lap.’ She’s very accepting, very loving, and sweet.” 2025-10-10 03:46:22 Cha.. 25,314 -56% 109 -71%
Bijou, mix, 35th Ave & 80th St., Queens, NY • “It’s funny when other people dogsit him, they ask, ‘Is it okay that he ate a piece of Styrofoam?’ And we’re like, this guy has eaten half a sofa. He has an iron stomach! We never did his ancestry, but we suspect he is a Staffy/Pit mix. He is a little weird, like all of us — he is quirky. He will scatter when he hears the toaster going off. He’ll go under the bed or hide in the shower. Not a fan of the toaster at all.” 2025-10-08 22:16:28 Bijou, .. 29,700 -49% 154 -59%
Luna, mix (3 y/o), Travers Park, Queens, NY • “Her name is Luna, but she goes by Tuna a lot because she ate my son’s dinner… and she pushed my son into a reservoir. Tuna is like her alter-ego when she is misbehaving. She is our first dog ever. She is from Howls Rescue and came from Mexico. She will do her best to get into anything, we keep everything up high. She’s dug up blueberries, apples…she’s a fruitarian, like Steve Jobs. She got pretty jealous when the kids came along. She’s most excited when we put them down to bed because she knows it’s her time again.” andynycgolden 2025-10-07 01:15:57 Andy, G.. 92,861 +60% 518 +39%

Elaine Benes, Pit Bull mix (4 y/o), Travers Park, Queens, NY • “We’re working on training the (Elaine Benes) dance. I feel like she is typical of the breed – very affectionate. Outside she’s very calm like you see her, but inside she’s just tons of energy. She was from St. Thomas, and was surrendered. We got her through Badass in Brooklyn. She’s taught us how to be parents and how to communicate with each other as adults.” A rescue via badassanimalrescue 2025-10-04 02:39:30 Elaine Be.. 44,557 -23% 423 +14%
I had the pleasure of meeting the star of the upcoming horror film goodboy.film Indy, and his dad, and director, Ben Leonberg!

“We definitely didn’t get Indy thinking he’d be an actor. I started writing the film long before he was born. I think everybody who has a dog has wondered why their dog barks at nothing in the middle of the night. We can’t help but use our imagination and wonder – maybe the house is haunted and our dog who has extraordinary senses is picking up on something we can’t?” 👻

I had the incredible honor of meeting one of my heroes last week, Dr. Jane Goodall, and am deeply saddened by the news of her passing today. She dedicated her life to helping people better understand animals and our relationship with them. I aspire to live a life as meaningful as Dr. Goodall’s. Her legacy will have an impact on many more generations to come.

Jane – there are no words to describe how special it felt seeing you light up with joy at every dog we met, including Elsa. I will never forget the “Jane Magic” you exuded during our day in the park ❤️

RIP Roscoe Hamilton, English Bulldog (9 y/o), Grand Army Plaza, New York, NY • I had the privilege of meeting lewishamilton dog Roscoe four years ago, though this is the first time sharing his photographs. He was as handsome as he was goofy, and I could see how his charm filled everyone he met with joy and helped prepare his dad to go 200+mph in a racecar.

During the shoot in September 2021, Lewis shared, “He’s been a vegan for a year now and has lost 7 kgs. He travels the world attending F1 races and is quite popular at the track, holding a very important role on the team. When he’s not on the road, Roscoe spends his time with his friends at doggy camp, enjoying afternoon walks and long naps in the sun.”

Gremlin, Chinese Crested (5 m/o), Spring & Elizabeth St., New York, NY • “He’s a little terror – he lives up to the Gremlin name. He runs around nipping, because he’s teething. But he’s a good boy. I’ve always wanted a Chinese Crested – they’re unique, they’re cool. Punkest dog ever. It makes me so happy looking after a little guy like this. He’s always stoked to see me, always wants to hang out and snuggle with me.” 2025-09-27 02:34:55 G.. 53,382 -8% 351 -6%
Nugget, Dalmatian (7 y/o), Fulton & Cliff St., New York, NY • “He’s my friend’s dog – they’re on their honeymoon. He’s really shy. He’s from Tennessee. He’s very needy – he climbs on you at dinner. You get yelled ‘Pongo’ a lot… ‘Where’s the other hundred Dalmatians?’ All that stuff. He’s so easy – he just sleeps and cuddles. I love dogs, so watching dogs fills that part of me that needs to be around dogs a lot. My sister has a dog, so I’ll fly out to LA and babysit him, and I’ve fostered before.” 2025-09-26 02:02:17 .. 51,515 -11% 241 -35%

He’s fascinated by people, by dogs, by water in the street… everything. I love how different dogs are. I have a field Golden Retriever, and she’s got crazy high energy. Zumi & Kaya, Siberian Huskies, Broome & Mercer St., New York, NY • “Zumi loves his grandma. They go out to California a lot to see her – they’re Delta Gold status. They behave more like German Shepherds – they’re just so calm and chill. They kind of just came perfect. Zumi is addicted to horses. One time I was in Malibu, and he ran off the beach and I couldn’t find him for two hours. I asked around if anyone around there had a horse stable, and I found him a mile up the road in someone’s horse stable. I got Zumi in college, so he taught me about growing up. Kaya lived on the streets and she was gonna be put down. The day she was set to be euthanized, the vet that did the euthanasia at the shelter couldn’t come in that day, so a rescue got her. She really shouldn’t be alive. lunchbox_thepup is Zumi’s best friend – Zumi is the first dog he played with.” 2025-09-23 04:13:03 .. 82,791 +43% 416 +12%
Tulip, Siberian Husky mix (10 m/o), Warren & W Broadway, New York, NY • “She’s pretty sweet – she likes people, she likes other dogs. She is still a puppy, so she’s mouthy, so that’s why I don’t like people walking up and touching her without asking. She’s also a big dog, so she doesn’t get the same privileges that small dogs get. I was not a dog person before her, and I still don’t consider myself a dog person – I love her, though. I do think as a dog community, we have a lot of work to do. I’m sure you see people who will get a breed without having the knowledge of the breed. We have an overpopulation of dogs in general, so just be aware of that. My friend works at the ACC, and I’ve done animal work in general. My partner wanted a dog, and Tulip was about to be euthanized. I’m gonna give her the best life I can.” tulipthehusky, a rescue via nycacc 2025-09-21 01:51:53 .. 65,223 +13% 430 +16%
Goose, Pug/Shih Tzu, 5th Ave & President St., Brooklyn, NY • “The nickname for his mix is Pug Zu. A year after the pandemic, I really wanted a dog. My grandmother had just passed. I was looking at all of these dogs and rescue places, and nothing was really panning out. And then some person was like, hey, we have this weird Pug mix, if you want to meet him tomorrow. They asked if I had a crate, and I didn’t. The next morning when we were supposed to meet him, there was a crate two doors down that said ‘free.’ So I feel that my Grandmother brought him to me. I’m a fitness instructor, so he’s also a fitness instructor. We work at Speakeasy of Strength in Gowanus, and I’m taking clients – if they’re pro dog.” 2025-09-20 05:29:35 Goo.. 72,548 +25% 459 +23%
I visited a thestreetdogcoalition clinic, one of this year’s non-profit recipients of The Dogist Fund. They provide free veterinary care to those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We’ll be raising money to help support them at thedogistfund.org 🙏

Our animals do so much for us to improve our lives and help us maintain our wellbeing, so it’s extremely important to try to help people in need be able to stay with their pets. I’m honored to feature this incredible organization, and if you’re able to help support them, please do!

Tika, Italian Greyhound (14 y/o), Spring & W Broadway, New York, NY • “We’re from Canada – we come here twice a year for New York Fashion Week. She’s always cold, so she wears onesies, snow coats, raincoats… I started posting pictures to Instagram and people loved it, and it kind of took off from there. One feature she was in that was really cool was Vogue. She’s gotten me through some really tough times, and I’ve gotten lots of feedback over the years that she’s gotten other people through tough times. At the end of the day, a dog wearing clothes is very silly, but it’s fun. Having her with me constantly has been so reassuring and therapeutic. Just getting through life with her has been pretty awesome. And she’s been there for every milestone. My husband got her, she was there when we bought our house, for both of our kids being born... She makes people smile wherever we go, so that’s the best part. This is her last fashion week – she’s still in good health, but I want to end it on a good note and let her enjoy retirement.” tikatheiggy 2025-09-17 03:52:03 .. 63,661 +10% 894 +140%
Sully, Milton & Lulabelle, French Bulldog & Pugs (4, 13, & 5 y/o), 6th St & 6th Ave., Brooklyn, NY • “They found Lulabelle on the street with a cone on and all sorts of sores – somebody just left her. They estimated she was between two and seven. She’s the sweetest ever, and she bosses the boys around. We lived in Florida, and if folks were sitting around in Adirondack chairs, Sully would climb into the chair and sit there. My friend’s husband was watching Milton, and when we came back he said, ‘this here’s Turkey Bear. Crazy like a turkey, looks like a bear.’ He doesn’t move around much, but if he sees an opportunity to get food… The other day we found him on the dining room table, getting my daughter’s croissant bag off of the table. They’re definitely family members.” renglasstattoo 2025-09-16 05:18:48 .. 68,790 +19% 421 +13%
