When we started last year, one thing that we wanted to do was find out where potential members stood on issues within the Influencer Marketing realm, so we shared a survey to find out! 88.6% of respondents said that Inclusion and Diversity in Campaigns is a priority for them. It’s absolutely a priority for us, particularly in an industry that has historically underpaid, undervalued and often ignored influencers and creators who aren’t white, cis and able-bodied. The landscape is changing a little bit we’re here to say there is A LOT more work to do! Fair enough! How is this? That applies to us as an organisation too. We want to make sure we are supporting a diverse range of creators and influencers from all backgrounds. Back in July, our founder nicoleocran spoke to guardian about the racial pay gap and her experiences in the industry. . “Ocran says part of the problem – even beyond race – is how influencers were not initially taken seriously by the wider fashion industry. “There’s an element [that thinks]: ‘This is just social media, it’s just posting pictures and it’s a bit of fun,’” she says. “There’s also the added layer of fashion as elitist; there’s this whole element that I should be so grateful and deferential that they’re even speaking to me about sending me something.” .
