Spaghetti Wednesdays 🍝 beachfrontmyrtlebeach

For just $12.99, you get an all-you-can-eat plate of spaghetti with salad and garlic bread and $10 from every meal goes directly to a local charity. 🩵

Each week a different organization benefits, so every Wednesday your lunch or dinner has a bigger impact.

It’s simple food with meaningful purpose, and a chance to give back while enjoying time at the beach.

Happy hour made easy with 1229shine ✨

I’m not usually a frozen drink person, but the Frozen Strawberry Cabana made me rethink that stance. Sweet, refreshing, and bright almost as if a strawberry-banana smoothie had been upgraded.

The Crab Rangoon Mozzarella Sticks were gone embarrassingly fast. Creamy mozzarella, surimi crab, and scallions tucked inside panko crust, served with sweet chili sauce that pulled it all together.

The Asian Salad brought color and crunch with cabbage, carrot, red onion, crispy onion. I wanted more from the lime vinaigrette, perhaps a sesame ginger dressing would give it more depth.

The Smokehouse Mac featured cavatappi tangled in smoked cheddar and gouda, topped with smoked short rib and crispy onions. This is where 1229 Shine shines brightest: their smoked meats are their superpower, and it shows. 2025-08-26 03:24:24 Happy hour made easy .. 134 +48% 29 +85%
There’s a quiet responsibility that comes with food criticism, one I take seriously. If I’m going to remark on the texture or flavor of a restaurant’s house-made bread, I should, at the very least, attempt to make it myself.

Criticism without understanding leaves little room for growth, both for the writer and the chef.

For my first trial I (somewhat loosely) followed a YouTube recipe.

Kneading the dough, waiting for it to rise for nearly two hours, and finally baking it was an unexpectedly comforting experience. The smell alone was worth the effort.

The final product was far from a failure. In fact, I’m not sure I’ll return to store-bought bread anytime soon. But it wasn’t the texture I’m chasing. My goal is to make a proper bánh mì, the Vietnamese baguette that is airy and lightly crisp.

Bánh mì exists because of a cultural exchange rooted in colonial history. When France colonized Vietnam in the late 19th century, they brought with them the baguette (a dense bread). Vietnamese bakers adapted the recipe to create a lighter crumb and thinner crust.

My first trial was a step in the right direction, but there’s work to be done, and that’s the point. Bread is humbling. 2025-08-21 05:12:40 The.. 42 -54% 6 -62%
You’re invited to #SharkWeek party at 1229shine ✨👀🦈

What I drank:🍋‍🟩
•The Shark Attack is a sweet slushy of pineapple, lime, and Deep Eddy vodka.
•Tequila-Rita made with jalapeño cucumber–infused tequila, passion fruit tea and lime, is one I’ll be ordering again and again.

What I ate:🦪
•Pink moon oysters shipped from Rhode Island, harvested in Canada. Salty with an herbaceous note at the end.
•Blackened mahi mahi, sourced from Southeast Asia laid over coconut curry ‘island’ rice with a Thai chili glaze.
•Award-winning smoked wings; were brined for 24 hours, smoked for 2 hours (skin-side up), flash-fried, and finished. The bacon-crisp skin is addictive like candy; salty, garlicky and deep with smoke.

Celebrate with 1229shine all week but save the date…

What does a food critic have in common with golfers? ✨⛳️

I may be a food critic but, I’m always chasing down a good experience too.

begolfluent is a NEW indoor golf training facility bringing serious tech to the table:

•Trackman simulators
•Over 350 virtual courses
•Mini-games for kids & casuals
•Beer, wine & snacks
•Retail shop on-site

All without the heat, humidity, or rainy-day cancellations.

Plenty of golfers bring their own gear, but I don’t have clubs, so I just rented mine there for an additional fee, $20 PXG or $10 EPEC.

At $60 per hour for up to four, it delivers way more than you’d expect for the price. Ask about their membership, $250 per month might be the best deal around for serious players and families.

Tired of stressing over where to eat next?

I get it, we spend more time debating where to go than actually going.

That’s why events like Taste Around North Myrtle Beach matter. I spent the month of May exploring some of North Myrtle Beach’s most talked-about spots (and a few I’d never tried), all part of the city’s first official tasting tour.

Some were memorable, some surprised me, and a few might just make your new rotation. In my full breakdown, I’ve included what I ordered, what stood out, and how this event could be even better next year.

Trust this list. I did the legwork so you don’t have to.

Here’s the truth about nicks_newyorkpub
it doesn’t try to be trendy, and that’s exactly why it works.

It’s not oceanfront, not reinventing bar food, and not worried about aesthetics. Instead, it leans into familiar comfort, with daily food specials, a bar that wraps around the room like a hug, and service that feels like you’ve been coming there for years, even if it’s your first time.

Owned and operated by a family who makes sure regulars feel like family too, this corner bar in North Myrtle Beach offers the kind of laid-back consistency that’s getting harder to find.

Here’s something you didn’t know you were craving: pickles on pizza.

✨🍕🍻

grandstrandbrewco x pizzasquared843

The PBR (Pickles Bacon Ranch) is bold and addictive. Tangy pickles cut through the richness of smoked bacon and mozzarella cheese, with a ranch drizzle that cools it all down. Punchy, creamy, and totally unexpected.

The Spicy Super Pepperoni is stacked with crispy pepperoni, gooey mozzarella, rich tomato sauce, hot honey, and a salty hit of Parmesan. Spicy, savory, and slightly sweet.

Detroit-style has a thick, airy crust with caramelized cheese edges, crispy on the outside, soft in the center. Perfect with a cold thesaltygolfer from GSB. 2025-07-01 17:06:34 Here’s someth.. 199 +120% 48 +206%
There’s something magnetic about mainstreetbakeryeatery 🥯✨

You won’t find fussy plating or overhyped trends here, just honest, thoughtful food. I stopped in for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, served on what might be the softest English muffin I’ve had in years. For $7.25, it’s an unpretentious breakfast that overdelivers in all the right ways.

Five families came in while I waited—some familiar with the location, some newcomers here on their annual family vacation. The register never sat still, but somehow nothing ever felt rushed.

Kim, both the owner and baker, and I talked for a while about the early mornings she spends prepping the day’s baked goods and how this little café has grown since she first opened its doors nearly five years ago.

You’d never guess it’s still relatively new as Main Street Bakery already feels deeply rooted in the community of North Myrtle Beach. 2025-06-28 21:18:53 The.. 85 -6% 5 -68%

#Ad “Best Asian Restaurant” three years running? I had to find out for myself.

I stopped by hachiya_express not because I was craving anything specific, but because I didn’t feel like cooking. I kept hearing people say it’s a little expensive, but others swore by it.

Here’s what I got:

A house salad, priced at $4.95. Romaine, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers. Basic, but it’s the ginger dressing that makes it worth finishing.

The steak & shrimp combination, priced at $19.25. Sure, it’s more than fast-casual prices, but the portion was massive. It fed me twice, with enough left over for my boyfriend.

The total was around what I’d spend DoorDashing something half as fresh.

Say what you want about the price, but that’s dinner with value, especially when it stretches like this. 2025-06-05 00:06:10 #Ad “Be.. 62 -32% 14 -11%

A Good Roast Chicken (from The Best of foodandwine 1990)✨🍗

Simple, classic, and packed with flavor—this vintage recipe was a total win. I used a pasture-raised chicken from fatmountainfarms and rosemary from the garden. The result? Incredibly tender meat, crisp skin (almost), and pure comfort on a plate. Here’s the full recipe so you can make it too:

Ingredients:
1 whole chicken (4.5 to 5.5 lbs), rinsed and patted dry
3 sprigs fresh rosemary
4 tbsp unsalted butter, at room temp, cut into 4 pieces
2 tsp coarse (kosher) salt
1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325°F. Loosen the breast skin from the meat. Place 1 rosemary sprig and 1 tbsp of butter under the skin on each breast side. Put the last rosemary sprig in the cavity.

Truss the chicken. Rub the remaining 2 tbsp of butter over the skin. Sprinkle salt and pepper all over.

Place breast-side up in a roasting pan. Roast for 45 minutes. Baste, then continue roasting, basting every 15 minutes, for about 1 hour more—or until the skin is golden, juices run clear, and the internal temp reaches 170°F.

**If you want crisp skin, turn the oven up to 375°F for the last 10 minutes of roasting.

Transfer to a warm platter, cover loosely with foil, and rest 15 minutes before carving.

I’ve been let down more than once by “Maryland style” promises—but not this time. I finally made it to mainstreet_taphousenmb in North Myrtle Beach, and it felt like coming home.

The Crab Cake & Shrimp Salad basket hit every nostalgic note: creamy, jumbo lump crab with barely any filler, and shrimp salad that tasted like the kind I’d grab in oceancitymaryland

I paired it with their Bloody Mary, which could be a meal on its own—loaded and flavorful; the jalapeño poppers were an amazing addition.

But more than the food, it was the warmth that stood out. The hospitality here is the real deal. You’re not just a customer—you’re welcomed like family (& if you’re a ravens fan, you’re considered VIP).

I’ll definitely be back. 2025-04-26 05:53:26 .. 60 -34% 4 -74%
seasidesunrisecafe is one of the newest additions to Cherry Grove—and already feels like a beach day essential.

The Fried Catfish Po Boy is the standout here. Light, crisp breading gives way to flakey, tender catfish sourced near the Santee Cooper Lakes—a detail the chef was more than happy to share. It’s layered with lettuce, diced tomato, a refreshing sauce reminiscent of thousand island, and just the right amount of sweet from bread and butter pickles. Every bite was balanced and deeply satisfying.

While their Iced Matcha Latte didn’t quite measure up to my personal favorite from saltybrewscafe the Teddy Graham Latte delivered a pleasant surprise—vanilla, cinnamon, and honey over ice, topped with vanilla cold foam. Sweet and subtly spiced.

Though my go-to coffee ( beknowncoffee ) and matcha spots aren’t changing anytime soon, Seaside Sunrise has earned a spot in my rotation.

I’ll definitely be starting (& ending) more beach days here. ✨🌞
