7/10 🥄 food

9/10 🥄🔥 experience (special thanks to Mohamed — our wonderful waiter)

This was by far the most fun I’ve ever had reviewing a restaurant. alykhalifaaa is hands down the best person to eat out with, and I’m grateful this platform connected us over our mutual obsession with food — and for zee.fouda presence, which kept us both centred 🧘🏼‍♀️
(Yes, I left the sound on for your entertainment.)

Now — to the actual experience. The space is gorgeous, as you can see, but what stood out most was the exceptional service. The manager received our feedback with zero defensiveness and genuinely went above and beyond — even comping dessert for us. atmaminas, you’ve got yourself an incredible team.

As for the food: good quality, a bit under-seasoned across the board, and priced too high for what’s being served — but the hospitality more than made up for it.

⸻

Millefeuille:
Star of the show. That crisp? That freshness? Unreal. Loved the crème pâtissière — would’ve loved even more of it tbh.
1000/10 🥄🔥

Burrata Salad:
My biggest letdown. Tomatoes were bland, no seasoning, no greens — just… a bit sad and could be improved. alykhalifaaa literally went looking for balsamic. The burrata itself? Fantastic quality. But salad-wise?
5/10 🥄

Soy Beef:
Lean beef, beautifully marinated and cooked. The wasabi-avocado combo works, but the wasabi was barely noticeable. Both elements needed salt. Still enjoyable overall.
8/10 🥄

Osso Buco:
Great flavour, but the beef was a bit chewy. The risotto? Undercooked and lacked saffron flavor — which is kind of the point. With a few tweaks, this could easily hit top-tier.
7/10 🥄

Roz Meammar:
Decadent, moorish, heavy — the pigeon was generous and the rice was beautifully cooked. Slightly on the sweeter side, and could’ve used more salt, but still a solid dish.

Raoucha & Kandahar
9/10 🥄🔥

The oldest Indian restaurant in Cairo — they’ve been around forever, and for a reason: they know what they’re doing. It’s not trendy, nothing about the place is begging to be posted, and there are no bells and whistles. It’s authentic. It’s consistently good. As the kids say: it slapsssss.

Can the menus use an upgrade? Sure.
Is the Mohandessin location not super ideal? Yup.
But is it worth the journey?
If you’re an Indian food aficionado — absofreakinlutely.

They’ll also ask how spicy you like it and actually get it right.
We love spicy with consent 👏🏼

This menu was a Paneer Palooza, because I’m absolutely in love with paneer cheese. It’s the older, more sophisticated cousin of halloumi and mozzarella — more versatile in cooking, absorbs flavor so well, and has a soft, pleasurable texture. You can stew it, grill it (the first dish that’s not chicken and is cheese??), and it holds its own.

I’ve also had paneer in India, so I have a strong reference point — and they’ve got the good stuff.

⸻

Paneer Tandoori
The way it crisps up on the grill like protein is insane to me. Acidic flavor profile with a soft center and hard char.
10/10 🥄🔥

Butter Chicken
Tender, flavorful, well-seasoned, and the sauce? We dipped everything in it.
9/10 🥄🔥

Spinach Paneer
If you like spinach, you’ll like this. Savory and creamy — not my favorite of the three paneer dishes, but I enjoyed the sauce. Just the least flavorful of the bunch.
8/10

Daal
Lentil stew done right — not mushy, super flavorful, and just the right kick. An absolute banger if you like brown lentils.
9/10 🥄🔥

Butter Naan Bread
Served piping hot, buttery, flaky — just beautiful.
10/10 🥄🔥

Samosas
Stuffed with potatoes — I was pleasantly surprised. More on the savory side (which I love), and the dough was perfectly cooked. Beautiful, just not what I expected.
8/10 🥄

Biryani Rice
An explosion of flavor in the best possible way. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, which most places don’t get right. Next time I’m getting it with more protein.

The Brasserie

8/10🥄

A super elegant restaurant with EXCELLENT service, a diverse menu and a cool design and ambience. Perfect for a date night or a friend gathering. The food was overall goodddddd but for me it’s the ambience I’ll be going back for. I also feel like we didn’t quite pick their signatures so I’ll be going back to try more.

Sticky Smoked Korean Chicken; brilliant, the balance is great, the chicken is tender the flavour profile is on point!!! For the spicy-lovers though. 9/10🥄🔥

Steak Frites; I wanted the beef cut up into much thinner slices buttttt it was well seasoned and well cooked ya3ny can’t fault it. Entrecôte sauce was good. 7/10🥄

Pesto Caesar Salad; a 9/10🥄 Caesar salad, but pesto was more of an aftertaste/thought tbh

Corn Ribs; BRILLIANT. The spices and the cheese are perfect but it needs more sauce, the portion is also wonderful 9/10🥄🔥

Tuna Tartare; the texture of the tuna wasn’t great but with the avocado as a bite it was lovely, well seasoned too but needs something to add more texture to the dish. 7/10🥄

Wedge Salad; something so nostalgic about it with the blue cheese, would’ve loved it to be a dressing rather than chunks though. Basic but refreshing 7/10🥄

Gambas Al Ajillo; well seasoned, well cleaned, well cooked, nothing mind blowing 7/10🥄

Fillet Mignon; same comment as the steak frites, the ponzu sauce was nice 7/10🥄

Arancini Balls; sooo rich and smoky, I liked them but it’s a heavy app 7/10🥄

Provoleta w/ Hot Honey; loved how savoury the cheese was, the honey contrasted beautifully. For the cheese platter girlies💅🏼8/10🥄 2025-06-24 16:53:24 .. 248 -66% 22 -47%

Kebabgy Sofitel

8/10🥄

With a stunning Nile view, live ta5t shar2y, fresh bread ovens, and shisha on deck — Kebabgy is your go-to for experiencing Egyptian culture in the bougiest way possible. It’s pricey, sure, and you might have to battle a few mosquitos, but the vibe is so worth it. Definitely a must-visit if you’ve got someone in town from abroad.

Stuffed pigeons; Served piping hot, seasoned well, the rice was “mfalfel” and meat slightly overcooked but tastes incredibly homemade. 9/10🥄🔥

Tarb; Shockingly good (and I usually hate tarb). Tastes more like a juicy, well-seasoned kofta. Not too heavy — tarb haters will get it, tarb purists might not. 9/10🥄🔥

Lamb chops; Good meat, solid seasoning, slightly overcooked but still decent 7/10🥄

Fattet Moza; Meat falls off the bone. Sauce could use more garlic + vinegar, but overall rich and hearty. Huge portion 9/10🥄🔥

Hawawshi; Homemade vibe, crisped nicely, good seasoning. Simple, solid. 7/10🥄

Cheese rolls; Better cheese-to-pastry ratio than your average sambousak. Good cheese flavor, decent. 7/10🥄

Sausage; Nothing wrong with it, just underwhelming. A bit bland — didn’t land for me. 6/10🥄

Kobeba; Decent flavour, basic but fine. 7/10🥄

Roz Blaban; nothing to write home about 7/10🥄

Om Ali; So good I betrayed myself. Light, not too sweet, tastes homemade but better. And I usually don’t even like Om Ali. But the portion could be bigger. 9/10🥄🔥

Konafa; nothing to write home about, the cheese was not great but the texture on the outside was good 7/10🥄 2025-06-10 23:33:08 .. 134 -82% 16 -62%

The Gelatist

10000/10🥄🔥

I’m by no means an ice-cream/gelato connoisseur. However this has got to be the best of both/either I’ve tasted in Egypt EVER. It’s super creamy. Super moorish. And no cloy sensation (tagzee3) whatsoever. Taste as many flavours as you can honestly they’re all SO GOOD. & obviously these flavours aren’t for everyone so pick and choose your preferences.

If you can recommend me other flavours I haven’t tried please do!

Assal & Tahini; (Molasses with Tahini) has got to be one of the best ice cream flavours I’ve ever tasted. It’s nutty, it’s sweet, you can taste both flavours at the same time and sometimes one pops out. A perfect harmony, a perfect balance 1000/10🥄🔥 and chapeau for the idea!

Hibiscus; tastes exactly like a good glass of karkadé. Not too sweet, no bitterness. The texture is insane as shown in the video. 1000/10🥄🔥

Mastic; Best. Mastic. Gelato. I’ve ever had. You know how sometimes mastic can have an after-taste? Or the “pistachio” in it makes it not so great? Yeah, none of that. FIRE. 1000/10🥄🔥

Banoffee; I so regret I only tasted this because I should’ve gotten a GALLON of it. SO GOOD. Tastes so natural the toffee is beautiful and… yes it’s better than the other super famous place that does the banana ice cream (in my humble opinion) 1000/10🥄🔥

Evermore

6/10🥄 before stomach issues
4/10🥄 after

Most overhyped, underwhelming spot I’ve been to in a while. Aesthetic over taste, no salt in sight, no balance in any of the dishes and I personally was sick two hours later.

Evermore Pizza – chaotic. Two pizzas in one: tomato and truffle cream sauces, wild mushrooms, spicy notes, three cheeses… it’s confused and confusing. A visual mess and a confused flavour profile. Less is more. 4/10🥄

Pistachio Avocado Hummus – pistachio as garnish only. Fat-on-fat with no flavor payoff. Pretty but pointless and an insult to Lebanon and hummus. 5/10🥄

Truffle Burger – decent meat, bland sauce, pretty plating that made it go cold fast. Style over substance. Best thing about it was the fries. 7/10🥄

Manchego Brisket – cheese carried the dish. Sweet, not brisket, spaghetti was a weird choice. No truffle. No seasoning. 6/10🥄

Italy Pizza – not counted in score as they swapped it for the other pizza, but this was one of the worst pizzas I’ve had in my life. Burnt and raw garlic? Bitter mess. -100/10🥄

Peach Iced Tea – MVP of the meal. 9/10🥄

Yiwan

8.5/10🥄

Loosely translates from Mandarin to Bowl of Joy, and accurately so. By far the best noodle dish I’ve had maybe ever. Overall the dishes were great, service was fast and alright (can be improved), will I go again? For sure, do they have things to work on, quite a few.

Beef-Rib Oil Noodle; Insane. Insane. Insane. The rib is cooked perfectly, just wanted more than 1, all the seasonings are perfectly balanced, it’s not that dry and it’s slurpy and the hand-pulled noodles are just… a work of art. You WILL be dreaming about this dish. So authentic. 100000/10🥄🔥 truly best thing I’ve tried this year hands down.

Sweet and Sour Chicken; very good, chicken tastes great, very clean, fried very well, a tad too sweet, a tad too sticky (very viscous) but very enjoyable. They were like sweet chicken nuggets. 8/10🥄

Dry Fried Noodles; it’s spicy, it’s slurpy, it’s flavourful, noodle texture is bouncy. So well balanced, great umami. Cannot fault it 9/10🥄🔥

Dumplings; stuffed with beef that’s very well marinated and cooked, they were bite-sized so not your usual shape. It was too dry for my liking because the dough to filling ratio was too much, even though the filling wasn’t dry at all. Enjoyable but needs an adjustment 7/10🥄

Kung Pao Chicken; all good things must come to an end. The disappointment of the night. This has SOOOOOOO much cardamom/7abahan to the extent that my tongue went numb after a few bites. Just WRONG. The disappointing factor was after I pointed that out to the waiter his response was “Chinese people like it,” and he said it doesn’t even contain cardamom, which it does we allll bit on pieces of the pods. I don’t think it’s humanly possible for anyone of any race to enjoy this, also, since it’s clear you get this feedback a lot either advise your patrons as they’re ordering or FIX IT. But this attitude was dismissive and not ideal and they lost a whole ass 🥄 in their overall rating over that^ 3/10🥄

Potato “dish”; despite all the seasoning on top it didn’t taste like anything, very confusin. Very meh dish 5/10

Shello’s

9/10🥄🔥

Shello’s is a burger joint in Madinty that has a small but powerful menu. It’s so clear that the recipe formulation came out of someone who appreciates good hearty food, knows their way around the kitchen and understands junk food. Because despite this being one of the seemingly heaviest meals I’ve ever had (soooo much food) I actually felt so light afterwards. I will be dreaming of these sandwiches till I go next time, I’ll also be asking for a bottle of their truffle sauce to add on literally anything. V reasonably priced also which we love🤍

Truffle Burger (double); This is a burger that’ll have you salivating at the memory of it. Hands down the BEST truffle burger you’ll have in Cairo. The patties are smashed to perfection, with charred edges that taste smoky and have a beautiful crusty texture, I would loveeee a plateful of the grill’s leftovers smothered in their INSANE truffle sauce. The sauce is not overwhelming with truffle flavour, I could literally drink it, it’s beautifully creamy and the arugula just gives it a bit of freshness/lightness. The brioche buns are lightly buttered and I said this as I was finishing it up, the worst thing about this burger is eno bye5las (it finishes). ♾️/10🥄🔥🔥

Classic Burger; “does exactly what it says on the tin.” A quality classic burger. American cheese, ketchup, pickles and some diced onion, reminds me of a certain boycotted fastfood chain, but superior tbh. I loved this but next time I’ll have it as a double so the sweetness ratio isn’t too much for the beef. 9/10🥄🔥

Steak Sandwich; now you guys knowwwww I judge beef very harshly, but I was impressed honestly. The quality shows, the marination is divine, cooked to perfection and the caramelised onions with it is just… a perfect marriage. I would eat a jar of the caramelised onions on their own with some bread. They add their in-house Shello’s sauce on it which is acidic and balances out the sweetness of the onions but I’ll personally be removing it next time. The ciabatta had crispy edges and the texture was a great surprise when I got to these parts. Another sandwich I’ll be dreaming of for the next period 9/10🥄🔥 2025-05-21 20:43:54 .. 255 -65% 13 -69%

A contemporary Japanese fusion restaurant that just opened its doors, I give the atmosphere and service 10/10, their interiors are absolutely beautiful and their space is carefully curated. Love a semi-open kitchen concept, makes me trust the people cooking it even more. It gives quiet luxury, old money, but in a funky and contemporary way. Absolutely love the attention to detail down to the chopsticks’ material. Very very strong opening and definitely gonna be giving the Asian dining scene a run for their money. Keep. It. Up.

Going back for round 2 for their breakfast, and their noodle menu that’s still not available.

Hanetsuki Gyoza; vegetable dumplings that are BEAUTIFULLY folded; actual art. Love the stuffing, love this skirt (the layer you crack on top), great taste, great texture and the dipping sauce was just the perfect balance. This dish is FULL of umami and the best dumplings I’ve tasted in Egypt in a long time. 10/10🥄🔥

Comped bread; I don’t usually comment on abread and butter but damn, the bread was fluffier than clouds, served piping hot, with very salted butter that was beautifully, artfully balanced with the fruit jam served with it. Actually, one of my favourite things at the restaurant because good bread isn’t easy to bake, like at all. Set the tone for a strong meal and high expectations ahead and I was happily anticipating everything else. 10/10🥄🔥

Edamame Quinoa salad; Salads don’t often impress me, but I could eat buckets and buckets of this salad. Again, a perfectly balanced dish, perfectly cooked quinoa, super fresh ingredients and I could drink the soy peanut dressing. Very very sexy salad 10/10🥄🔥

White Wings; now these won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, and if you’re basic and don’t mind spicy, I recommend the Seoul of Tokyo wings instead, I haven’t tried them but already know they’ll be fire. Howeverrrr, since I do mind spicy, these sweet, yes SWEET, fried chicken wings were absolutely delightful. the breading was out of this world, served piping hot, perfectly fried. Does it need a sauce? In my humble opinion YES. The only thing needed to take it to a 10/10🥄🔥

Kiki’s brunch

8/10🥄

The only thing better than brunch, is brunch by the beach! A very pleasant experience of good, hearty food by the sea, in the shade of course, with excellent service and very friendly waiters, at kikis.beach in Hacienda White. Very easy to make online reservations, but book in advance for weekends! I strongly recommend it!

Croque Madame; a smoked Turkey stuffed croissant with a layer of light béchamel and a sunny-side egg on top. It’s filling, it’s heavy, it’s delicious, the croissant was fresh and the flavours work really together, needed to be slightly hotter but otherwise a perfect dish with all my favourite breakfast components 8/10🥄

⭐️Truffle Eggs; my new favourite form of scrambled eggs. The truffle wasn’t overwhelming, just the right amount, it was perfectly salted and had a great creamy texture 9/10🥄🔥

⭐️Mazeej Taameya; I’m not big on taameya for breakfast but this was bomb. Foul & cheese stuffed taameya with a tahini sauce, you make a small pita sandwich with their homemade (Asian inspired but delicious) cucumber pickle, and you’ve got a winner. 9/10🥄🔥

Truffle Cheese Tomato Dip; the saltiness of the cheese overpowered the truffle flavour, but it had a nutty texture that I enjoyed; I recommend it but I’m a classic gebna bel tamatem person 7/10🥄

Yalahwii Pancakes; with a cream (Eshta) sauce and strawberry jam it gives feteer meshaltet vibes, also simultaneously very nostalgic of Strawberry Hoho’s, pleasant but I wouldn’t go so far as yalahwii😂 the pancakes were well made though. Note; there’s a French toast version that’s crispy and has cinnamon sugar 7/10🥄

Rossini

8/10🥄

An Italian seafood fine-dining experience, which is refreshingly unique. Most seafood restaurants tend to be casual and don’t target elegance, and the fancier restaurants offer local dishes/flavours. Rossini is one of a kind that regard in Cairo. The ambiance is very relaxing, the interiors are elegant and it’s perfect for intimate settings or small groups.

Branzino Sotto Sale; baking the fish in salt is such a delicate technique, as it forms an insulating layer around the fish to allow it to cook evenly. The branzino (2arous) was cooked perfectly, I loved that there was no seasoning on it to really bring out the flavour and freshness of the fish. The flambé-ing of the salt gives it a slightly smoky texture and the table-side show is unique and entertaining. 9/10🥄🔥

Camembert Al Forno; the crostini/bread was beautifully buttery and served hot. The sweetness of the honey and the creaminess of the camembert create a perfect bite. Needed slightly more honey and more of the rosemary aroma to be perfect, but it is one of my favourite cheese pairings. 9/10🥄🔥

Tonno Scottato; the dish’s visual impact is very strong; its vibrant red colour shows how fresh the tuna tasted, which impressed me due to its rarity. It is slightly seared on the outside, I added a squeeze of lemon and pink Himalayan salt and it created a perfect balance in flavour, incredibly moreish it 8/10🥄

Calamari Alla Siciliana; the calamari tasted very fresh, and the marinara sauce was incredibly well balanced. However, because the calamari was tossed in the sauce it took away from that beautiful outer crispiness. The temperature wasn’t as warm as it should be and unfortunately it is these minor details that can bring down what could be a perfect dish 7/10🥄

Gamberi in Crosta; a seafood soup cooked beneath a beautiful golden-brown dough top. It has a rich onion flavour and a velvety creamy texture, consistency could be slightly thicker, but it’s a lovely creamy broth with perfectly cooked seafood. 9/10🥄🔥

Buoy

8.5/10🥄

The first Greek fine dining restaurant to open in Cairo, bringing real authentic flavours to the food scene. It is beautifully designed, I was sitting in awe admiring the interiors, everything looked pristine and spanking new despite being open for a while now, even the bathrooms are unique (worth mentioning). The service is impeccable, really elevated fine dining experience from all angles, the staff is very friendly, and the food was served quickly. Perfect for intimate dinners and large group outings for special occasions.

Parmigiana Moussaka; an extremely visually impactful dish, the presentation is everything, serving that eggplant whole is just beautiful. Leaving the charred eggplant skin was a pleasant surprise, it added texture and wasn’t bitter at all. I expected more from the potatoes as with typical moussaka dishes, but this isn’t your typical moussaka. The marinara sauce perfectly complements the eggplant flavour. Such a moreish dish that I would happily eat a giant serving of. 9/10🥄🔥

Beef Gyro Tacos; genius fusion and concept between Latin tacos and Greek gyros that actually works, tzatziki sauce works perfectly well as a substitute for the typical queso Blanco! The beef was perfectly tender, the dish is extremely well balanced, but ask for an extra wedge of lemon on the side and thank me later 9.5/10🥄🔥

Kiki’s Signature Breads; the baladi bread was decent but basic, however what I loved most was the flavour, freshness and temperature of the semit, it is exceptional and makes up for the basic dips accompanying it. 8/10🥄

Tirokautery; the most superior garlic dip I ever had, perfectly balanced and creamy, herb sauce adds such a freshness that lifts the garlic’s heaviness. An exceptionally perfect recipe 10/10🥄🔥

Feta Feteer; perfectly creamy feta that contrasts the phylo’s texture beautifully. The honey with the feta’s saltiness is a great complementary marriage of flavours, but it needs some more sweetness for a perfect balance. 9/10🥄🔥
