- Highlights from Crete. Guys, what a little paradise… we are pretty much living in swimsuits, hopping from beach to pool to hike. With a generous dose of juicy red tomatoes, feta and Greek yogurt on the side. No surprise here, but Crete as a family vacation is seriously delivering. Even more than the gorgeous scenery and delicious cuisine though, it’s the locals who are really making the trip. From the baker in a lost little town who snuck us some of the catered meal he was preparing, to our hotel owner who brought us a bowl of freshly picked figs when she heard we enjoyed them, the people have been extremely warm! #crete #cretewithkids #familytravel #travelwithkids
- ✨ Add this Paris expo to your list! ✨ YES, even if you’re traveling with kids! Come visit the viral acoustic installation at the boursedecommerce with us! This show by French artist Céleste Boursier- Mougenot has been all over the internets, and with good reason - it is mesmerizing and gorgeous, both visually and audibly. The installation is set up under the rotunda, so it is light filled and the reflections on the pool are very pretty. White bowls float on the surface, pushed by a little current. Peaceful chimes fill the space as the bowls naturally bump into each other. I love how such simple materials created this magical experience! We plopped down on the ground right in the edge of the pool, and the kids were entranced for maybe 20 minutes. We played a game where we picked a bowl and then did ‘races’ to see whose bowl was fastest:) Don’t miss going up a level to see a different view! We went on a Friday afternoon at 1pm after a quick lunch across the street at the brasseriedelabourseparis , and the space was fairly empty. By the time we left things had really picked up! The exhibit space is cordoned off to cap how many people can be in the space at once, which is nice, but could lead to a line to enter. I’ll share more on the general museum visit next! This museum is located right in the heart of Paris, and very easy to access. Count one hour minimum (we were there two thanks to the kids’ area on the 2nd floor). Running through Sept 25, adults 15 euros, kids under 18 free Open Monday to Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Late opening on Friday, until 9:00 pm Closed on Tuesdays Late opening every first Saturday of the month from 5pm to 9pm #pariswithkids #parismuseums #familytravel #parisvacation
- Y’all. The best day of the year in Paris is coming up THIS SATURDAY!!! It’s the annual Fête de la Musique festival, when the streets of Paris are flooded with music for an evening! If you are in Paris… consider yourself so lucky and get ready to wander the city seeing what you discover! We always head to the same spot at the base of Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement, but most of the city is going to be lively. Festivities start around 6pm but don’t start really gearing up til 8 or so… then continue most of the night, especially since this year it falls on a Saturday! Even on yesrs where the festivities fall on a school night, I let the kids stay up late for this one exception and we wander the streets til wayyy past bedtime! IT’S THAT FUN. Lots of restaurants and bars will set up stands outside so you can eat and drink as you explore! Bonne fête de la musique!!! Enjoy! #pariswithkids #familytravel #paris #fetedelamusique
