Last weekend I rode my first #BREVET200 🗺️ (A brevet is a long-distance, non-competitive cycling event: riders follow a set route and must pass control points within time limits. It’s about endurance, navigation and self-sufficiency — not racing, mostly road.) So many impressions!🙌 I knew I could finish within the time limit, but what I really wanted was to ride with my friends. How I — on my gravel bike with 50 mm tires — found myself in the first peloton during the first 40 km, I don’t know. Riding with them at an average speed above 30 km/h into a headwind, I realized I’d burnt out. I hadn’t even reached the first checkpoint and I was already exhausted. Giving up the desire to stay in the group meant riding alone into the wind. Fine, I told myself — I put on some music, stuffed my cheeks with food and began to enjoy the sun on a solo stretch to the second checkpoint. Imagine my surprise when a second group later picked me up! Before I knew it we rolled into the third checkpoint :) That’s how I covered 200 km — sometimes solo, sometimes in a group. I discovered a lovely feeling of choice: ride slower at my own pace, or push harder and enjoy a faster group ride while I still had the legs. Result: almost 27 km/h on a gravel bike with 27.5-inch wheels and 50 mm tires. I’m proud and I’ll brag a little — I’ve never ridden that fast before. Besides the dopamine rush from the result, there were amazing conversations both on the road and later around the campfire. I’ll definitely come back next year! Talking about Sicily, I just can’t skip that unforgettable off-road adventure on volcano Etna 🌋 Btw, we were there right after new lava touched snow area. Imagine this: it’s April it’s hot at the seaside, and we are climbing from sea level up… We’re more than 2,000 meters up, suddenly there’s snow—and we get stuck in it for almost five hours. If you scroll past the surreal volcanic landscapes and zoom in on the last photos, you’ll see the tracks in the snow. It’s been half a year, and we still haven’t shared where we were back in April during our bikepacking trip along the #SicilyDivide 🤍 One of the most powerful and unforgettable places we visited in Sicily was the Cretto di Burri — a monumental memorial built on the ruins of the town of Gibellina, destroyed by the 1968 earthquake. The artist Alberto Burri literally “sealed” the old streets in concrete, turning the ruins into a white labyrinth of memory. Riding through these “streets,” we felt both the weight of the tragedy and the strength of art. Well, I think I can be proud of myself ☺️ and I need to say it out loud. I couldn’t ask for more than the chance to organize the #8barOvernighter in one of my favorite places in Saxon Switzerland. I’m so happy to have amazing people around me, to meet new ones, to give all my energy, to receive so much positive feedback, and to truly enjoy the work-life balance. Solo night rides through the forest have always been a big challenge for me. I’ve always been afraid of being alone in the dark woods. At some point, I decided to face that fear and started working with it. Talking myself through the fear on those rides, I realized I needed a true companion — a bright light to guide my way and push back the darkness I dreaded so much. That’s how, last year, I became a supernova__design ambassador. And this year, as I continue to overcome my fear of the unknown and build my own sense of security, I’ve also become a small part of the team — starting my second job with them. Very green weekend 🍀🌿🌱🐛🌳 Without planning anything, it all turned into an incredible bike overnight adventure. Very spontaneously and without a plan, we went out to eat on Saturday at a restaurant around Angermünde city and brought our sleeping bags with us. We lay under the open sky and watched the shooting stars until 2 AM. On Sunday we picked blueberries. We stopped by the conceptual museum of Barnim.
