I received so much love on this photo when I posted it to my stories that I’m giving it a permanent spot on my feed. As for the location, the good news is you don’t need to go on an insane hike to enjoy this view! You can find this bench by taking a gondola ride up to the top of Grindelwald First and taking a walk along the Bachalpsee Trail. One of our first adventures in Switzerland was exploring this Cliff Walk at the top of Grindelwald First! The Cliff Walk is completely free (once you’re at the top of the First at least) but I definitely recommend getting there early to beat the crowds and lines. Things to know about visiting Harder Kulm ✨ Getting there: Harder Kulm is located roughly a 10 minute walk from the Interlaken OST station. Getting up to the viewpoint: While you can hike up to the spot (it will take you 2-3 hours one way), there is a funicular that will take you up and down as well (roughly CHF 22 round trip). What to do at the top: At the top there are definitely some stunning views of both Lake Brienz and Lake Thunersee. Grab lunch with a view at the Harder Kulm restaurant or pack a picnic lunch to eat at one of the benches. Story time: my boyfriend and I set out on a hiking trail in the Swiss Alps that, had we gone all the way to the end, would have taken us 6-7 hours in total. We set out to hike half of it (~3 hours) and about 5 minutes before we got to this view point the trail started to get a bit sketchy… Like rock climbing up the trail on a dirt path sketchy. My vote was to turn around. We had already hiked for longer than we set to and this seemed like that spot that was giving us that signal to turn around and head back. Luckily my boyfriend wanted to make sure that we’re weren’t missing out on anything so he went on a solo scouting mission and hiked another 5 minutes up the trail to find this view point and thank goodness! Imagine turning around right before you get to this perfect lookout spot?! Who knows what other view points we missed out on on this trail, but it’s safe to say you just never know what’s right around the corner. I crossed something exciting off of my bucket list during my trip to Switzerland! 🪁🏔️ Paragliding through the Swiss Alps was definitely an experience - and one that I highly recommend for some of the best views! While it is something that I have wanted to do (and my boyfriend reminded me that I’ve been talking about doing it since we met 3+ years ago), I’ll admit that I was a little nervous to actually sign up for the experience. My hand was shaking that morning heading up the mountain. And after I was all strapped in to the harness with the parachute, I started to question my life choices as my guide told me to start taking quick steps towards the edge of the cliff… But the moment our feet were lifted off the ground and we were in the air.. it became one of my all time top experiences. If you ever find yourself in Switzerland, I highly recommend booking this experience!
