Actually you don’t need to be flexible ! Pilates is designed to improve flexibility, not require it. You don’t need to touch your toes or have a dancer’s range of motion to start. With consistent practice, your mobility and strength will improve naturally. Just show up, move with control, and let your body do the rest.

Representation may be limited, but Pilates is for all body types. 

✨Things I Wish I Knew Sooner as a Black Woman in Pilates…
1️⃣ Not every instructor will know how to cue for our bodies. 
2️⃣ Your hair strategy matters - A fresh silk press + Pilates? Risky. Protective styles and headbands help maintain hair throughout workouts.
3️⃣ Some moves will need modifications—and that’s not a bad thing.  Cross-legged stretches, side planks, and certain reformer positions may need adjustments for comfort and alignment.
4️⃣ Mat Pilates and reformer Pilates hit differently when you have curves. 
5️⃣ Pilates will snatch your waist. 
6️⃣ Reformer straps and foot bars don’t always accommodate fuller hips and thighs. 
7️⃣ Black women belong in Pilates spaces. 


Presence in these spaces matters.

Day 1 of fall into pilates CHALLENGE! We are starting off with a 20 minute core focused workout. Having a strong core is important in pilates and plus it’s my favorite thing to work out.
