One of the easiest ways to clean up your nutrition is to start trying to make most of your meals a “plate method” meal. 

Plate Method

1) At least half of your plate vegetables 
2) Limit a carbohydrate choice (Not processed, higher fiber) to 25% of plate 
3) At least 25% of your plate a lean protein 

With the plate method you can eat a nice sized portion and feel very satisfied -all while getting a punch pack of nutrients. I’m all about volume. When it comes to food, less is not more for me. I want to feel full and packed w vitamins and minerals and feel energized. You need to eat to fuel your metabolism! 

Pro Tip: Keep it as simple, yet appetizing as possible. This was my lunch and took me less than 5 mins to throw together at the time I wanted to eat it. When you have a bunch of random veggies that are going to soon go bad, here is an idea! Just throw whatever you have to use up on a cookie sheet, lightly spray or toss in olive oil, sprinkle w a touch of salt and pepper, bake at 375 degrees for about 30 mins and there you have it! The veggies are saved from the trash and you are working in more of the main staples (often missed or forgotten!) in a healthy diet!

You can then use these roasted veggies to top off your salads, use as a dinner side or even a dinner main! I like to put a bunch of these random roasted veggies on top of quinoa or farro for some extra protein and top with a sauce or marinade that I am craving!

I love trying new, healthy meals—especially when someone else makes them! 😉😉

My sister has been in town visiting and cooking up a storm from the ohsheglows cookbook series (highly recommended!). This high-fiber breakfast bowl sneaks cauliflower rice into steel cut oatmeal to make sure you get a serving of veggies before your day even starts.

She topped the bowl with cherry tomatoes, avocado, pesto and a fried egg for extra protein, but you could also add leftover roast veggies or fruit. So delicious!

Did you know by not drinking enough water throughout entire day increases hunger?!

Why? The hypothalamus in the brain often senses dehydration as hunger. Be sure to drink half your bodyweight in water throughout the day for appetite control.

Also, remember muscle is approx 79% water. Dehydration = decrease overall strength & endurance during your workouts.
