- 🐶 Do you wanna stay at a Japanese inn with 2 golden retrievers?? Not only that, but the Japanese style baths are private* too, so it's a great for onsen beginners! 🖌️Tattoo- and kid-friendly! 🛁*The rooms have showers, but for Japanese-style baths you can take one inside or outside. Each bath holds only 1 party at a time, so it's private for the time you're using it. That's great if you want to try a Japanese bath but also want privacy. 🍽️🥗Breakfast and dinner available, and so nice! They use local ingredients; if you tell them at booking, you can get vegetarian or vegan meals! 🏔️In the mountains, it's beautiful in winter and must be cool in the summer. I'm sure any season is great! ♨️Minakami Onsen is a famous Japanese onsen (and maybe skiing?) town that hasn't seen too many international tourists yet. That said, there's a lot to do in the area, especially for outdoorsy people! Avoid over-tourism here! 😞❤️🩹Sadly, 2 dogs have passed since I visited a few years back, so now they have 2 adorable dogs waiting for you 🥰 🔤"Asanebou" means "sleep in", how cute is that! Don't you wanna sleep in here (or wake up early and pet the doggies!) 📍 pension.asanebou Pension Asanebou ペンション あさねぼう 🗾Minakami, Gunma Precture, Japan 🚇Not so far by car/taxi from the spooky Doai Station, Japan's deepest train station! 🐴For more to do in Gunma, check out my "Gunma" profile highlight! 🚄Only 3 hours from Tokyo! From Tokyo, take the shinkansen to Takasaki Station, the local train to Minakami Station, and then the bus #privatejapanesebath #privateonsen #tattoofriendlyonsen #gunma #minakamionsen
- 🛍️💴Kombini Phrases👀 💡If you're going to the Japanese convenience store, these are 2 big questions and answers you'll need! 1️⃣Do you need a bag? ❓Fukuro wa go-riyō deska?袋はご利用ですか? ❓Fukuro wa irimasuka?袋は要りますか? 👍Haiはい (add *onegaishimas* to be more polite) ❌Daijōbu des大丈夫です (👋do a waving gesture, almost like you're swatting or blowing stink away, to add to the "no" meaning) 2️⃣How will you be paying? ❓O-shiharai hōhō wa? お支払い方法は?(*dō saremas ka?* if they want to make it a fully polite sentence, they'll add that to the end, but not always) 💴Genkin de現金で (genkin=cash, de=with) 💳Kādo deカードで (kādo=card, de=with) 💁🏼♀️It's Word Wednesday, where I post a Japanese travel word or phrase on Wednesday! - 🥹🐶Do you wanna spend time with Japanese Akita inu dogs?? Who wouldn't? Then this is the place for you!! 🗡️Enishi is a wonderful guesthouse in beautiful Kakunodate City, Akita Prerecture, in Japan's northern Tohoku region. Maybe you've never heard of Kakunodate, but it has a lot of samurai history, so it's pretty cool town. Plus there's a Shinkansen stop, so it's easy to get to from Tokyo! 🐶🐶The two Akita dogs who live here are Suu-Chan and Fujiko, and they're so cool! When you first get there they will be all happy, but after that they're pretty chill 🐶🥰 🚶Plus, you can join them for their twice daily walks (canceled when rainy) and have a turn walking them and taking photos with them around the historic town! 😅 I myself stopped going to animal cafes after realizing they're actually a generally inhumane business model. So I am really happy to go to a place like this where the dogs are actual residents and you're not really bothering them by hanging out 🥰 🇺🇸Btw, did you know that Japanese and American Akita inu are slightly different? That's why I keep saying "Japanese Akita inu," I'm not just being redundant, I'm being specific 😉 📍minshuku Enishi akitainu_kakunodate (minshuku is a traditional cozy Japanese lodging) 🗺️On Google Maps, search "bed & breakfast Enishi" or "民宿 縁 Enishi" (there isn't breakfast, it's just the English listing) 🚅20 minutes from Kakunodate shinkansen station #akitajapan #japanesedog #akitainu #akitainudogs #tohokutravel
