Talking with a new client yesterday, she told me it’s hard for them to envision what I am proposing from just pictures of the items. I GET it trust me. That isn’t the first time I’ve heard that and definitely won’t be the last.

Renderings aren’t just for the client it helps me a lot as well! Designers can envision things in their head pretty easily (usually where my brain is at any given time 😂) but seeing it put together in one clear picture is SO helpful to see the colors and textures working together but also the scale of pieces in the room-which is probably the most important part.

Can’t wait to shoot this one in October with torisikkemaphotography and deirdrekingcreative

Too soon? 😍

Not for me! Things have really picked back up again and I’m not mad about it. As much as I love a slow summer I also realized I love being busy and working on projects whether it’s for clients or in my own house (sorry Matt 😬)

What are you excited about this fall? Do you have any projects you are hoping to work on? I would love to hear about them! 2025-09-03 05:22:03 Too soon? 😍 No.. 11 -86% 1 -89%

When your major furniture pieces are timeless and versatile it’s easy to make small changes as your style evolves without doing a complete overhaul of the space. If a client has great pieces nothing makes me happier than to be able to reuse them or even give them a new purpose!

Finally getting around to sharing the rest of brooklynblonde1 living room project photos (and a few more to share later)….but also going to be real for a second because why the hell not.

Ironically this project was finished almost exactly a year ago to the day and then photographed in November 2024. With the hopes of trying to get it featured with a publication, I have been holding onto these beauties all this time! The photos unfortunately didn’t get picked up (and I can talk more about that if you’re interested in the process 🤪) all of this to say I was sad they didn’t get picked up but ultimately realized it isn’t what defines me as a designer! The acknowledgement is still nice sometimes though 😉

When the bones of a space are this good it doesn’t take much to make it beautiful!

I also am a big believer that in order to make a big impact you don’t always have to start knocking everything down. With the right furniture and color/texture palette you can drastically change a space. Since these rooms don’t get much light we made sure to add a good amount of color to balance the dark wood paneling but also still embrace the moodiness the room naturally has (also equally important)

Been holding onto these beauties for a while now and I’m so excited to finally share this beautiful Hoboken project!

Like all projects there are always stories to be told afterward. When I first walked into this home my jaw was on the floor with all of the original character. From the dark wood paneling and the floor to ceiling bookshelves, to the original plaster detailed ceiling.

She had amazing bones and clients that wanted to keep the original amazing bones (thank god). With paint, wallpaper, and furnishings we were able to update it but still keep its amazing charm. The real star of the show of course was this sweet puppy 🐶🐾

Got to talk about my FAVORITE subject…all things vintage, antique, and retro. Thank you so much homesandgardensofficial!

Vintage items are always a good idea in my opinion and they don’t have to look like your grandmas house ☺️ Sorry grandmas I still love you 🫶 But I do think people often times are quick to say they don’t like vintage when in reality they just haven’t explored it enough.

The blend of new and old is what makes a room FEEL special not just look special. And don’t we all just want to feel special in our home?

No but seriously, it’s not easy 😂, but also SO rewarding when you see the finished product.

As you can see there were some changes made to the original plan and there are many reasons for the changes but also sometimes I think it’s the universes way of saying WAIT do this instead and the result ends up being even better than before.

I just got some of the photos back from torisikkemaphotography of my bathroom project after being on a week long trip with 7 kids…and well they couldn’t have come at a better time 🥹
.

This bathroom (like every project) has a lot of stories , but the best one of all is the brass legs that came from a brownstone in Brooklyn that was being renovated. Like a true designer I stalk facebook marketplace. It’s become my secret obsession and gives me so much joy when I find cool pieces like this. I always prefer to use pieces that have a story over new items and I love that these legs were given a new purpose.

And since this is a personal project in my house I’m going to share all of the sources because YOLO!

With social media and everyone having big opinions it can be scary to show others how my style has evolved over time.

So I decided no more gatekeeping. We have made a few changes around the house and It’s really starting to show our style ✨🥀

Trying out this whole posting a room that’s not fully finished yet 🫣
.
Since this is my personal bathroom I’ve taken some twists and turns throughout the project that have honestly become the best mistake. I’ve heard so many times that a designers house is their laboratory and it is so true.

The vanity (although beautiful) didn’t feel right once it was in the bathroom. And that’s after doing renderings, elevation drawings, and taping it out in the space.

Luckily I had another option in the back of my head to use these vintage brass legs I bought last summer from Facebook marketplace from geckobuilds (👋🏻) He was hired to demo and renovate an old brownstone in Brooklyn-I’m sad the new owners didn’t want them but also happy I could put them to a good use!

She’s still got a few finishing touches left to do but all of this to say I’m not perfect but maybe this mistake was supposed to happen 👊🏻 2025-03-28 00:46:37 .. 57 -28% 5 -43%

My little boys room that isn’t so little anymore 🥹 Also, he most definitely cries (and whines) a lot 😂

He will be 7 in April and I hate that I’m even saying this but time has truly gone by too fast! He hasn’t quite asked for any changes in his room (yet) so for now I’m going to hold onto his sweet room as long as possible 💙

I don’t know who I think I am posting 3 days in a row, but let’s go with it.

Fun fact: I’m very particular.

Ok , to those that know me probably already knew that 😂. But I’m particular with who I surround myself with almost as much as what kind of furniture/decor I fill my house with. I’m a firm believer that your home should feel like an instant hug when you walk in the door and if there is something in your house that isn’t making you feel that way it’s time to go ✌🏻.
