Still processing our performance of ‘Garbh’ for the final day of rangeelugujarat.uk, in a space where we were held by a huge audience of 2000 people who cried, celebrated and clapped with us at every moment.
The work is our love letter to our foremothers, our gujarati heritage and the folk who breathe life to #Garba as a form - being able to share this work with them felt so special.

![POV: The cutest mehmaan is staying with us! 🥹🪔
Growing up, I always loved Ganpati; his beautiful heart, his love and Bhakti, his cutest form and his playfulness. I’d listen to his bhajans and play with him for hours! In the past few years, I’ve grown an attachment towards bappa’s Pooja during Ganesh Chaturthi, but I struggled with how, as I never grew up doing it.
One of krishalkaylash and my shared love language is acts of service, but doing meaningful and love-filled seva together is always so special, and brings out such a beautiful offering, helping us to connect spiritually, but also ground our love - so happy we managed to prioritise Bappa coming home this year! ♥️
Grateful to spiritual.yoga.rituals for always guiding us with compassion and wisdom, helping us see meaning and depth in a proper practice and service together! 🙏🏽

M E H S O O S (محسوس)🫴🏽
How can I give a voice to an inanimate object? To an object that has stood the test of time and holds so many stories in its skeleton frame. If it could speak, what would it share with the world?
What memories would it recount? What language would it converse in? A load-bearing structure built to support, would it share the weight of its experiences? Would it tell us of its travels and adventures; uprooted from its home, installed in a storehouse - would it reminisce about its past as the generations that came before us do? A structure so beautifully symmetrical and the ideal of perfection, but the closer you come to it, the more you see its imperfections - imprints of the journey it has made, scars of its history.
What if we saw it, listened to it, held it? Would it feel safe enough to tell us its truth? Does it hold trauma as our bodies do? When words are no longer our way in, what if we used our movement to communicate with the colonnade?
This work seeks to address these questions, empathising with the Agra Colonnade through embodied intention, collective reflection, and lived experience, navigating the ambivalence of holding on/letting go and protection & conservation/true belonging
I had envisioned a live rework of the film, including all movement explorations from our workshops - so grateful to akademidance for making this a reality!

I rarely ever perform at weddings, so having a wedding-reception-filled-performance weekend with thesiblingstyle felt different, but liberating in a way that I felt release in not holding the movement or myself so seriously - finding some freedom and play within the choreography.
Performing for a childhood friend, who was my Kathak classmate from my baby dancing days felt even more special! Thank you surina_s and _shalini.s for having me!

Processing this huge loss on the final date of our Aunusthan tour last night was tough. Kumiben’s vision and philosophy has informed and moulded our dance in unimaginable ways, breathing life into every movement. Her life’s work enriches everything we do yet it’s impossible to measure the impact of her incredible offering to this world.
Our only solace was embodying excerpts of Kumiben’s choreographic magic through these iconic compositions - we felt her guiding force with us!

- Our Letter to the Agra Colonnade
Really missing this special process - getting to know these incredible young dancers who gave so much to the development of this work. A group that holds so much diversity in their movement, culture and identities; their vulnerability and artistry was really beautiful to witness. It was humbling to hear from them, share with them and create on them.
Even though we only shared 4 days of creation and 2 filming days together, it felt like we had become a family; creating a safe space with each other to share openly, collaborate together and hold each other through the challenges that this work presented, which was so beautiful!
Thank you all for your generosity and for trusting me in this process, akademidance for involving me in this work and vam_east for bringing us all together. Can’t wait to see how the final film made by romain.beck comes out!

![It’s been a while…phir se 🤦🏽♂️🙏🏽
I feel like I’m constantly finding new challenges with understanding what this platform means to me, and how it can be authentic to who I am, both artistically and personally.
It becomes harder to navigate this knowing that I’m not seeking work through this platform, but rather just a space for self discovery, reflection and sharing, but the external gaze asks for this to be a professional outlet.
All I know right now is that I want it to be an honest offering, something that speaks true to who I am, my journey and what I striving towards.
That being said, works like this that feel like home - where I can rediscover myself in a new way within them, even as my body and mindset evolves, are always a welcome space of comfort.

![Can I just stay in Vilambit Laya forevs? 🫠
Indulging myself in a little this and a little ‘Thāt’ - where the tempo is slow and brooding and I can feel myself melting into the pockets between the beats of the Teentaal Theka (having a beautifully composed score like this really helps!) 🤌🏽
A few years ago, the idea of improvising movement over a few cycles of Teentaal was anxiety inducing, but has recently started to feel like play (of course while still holding my core throughout, calculating the trajectory of the movement while fully enjoying the present moment, gliding gracefully through each state in attempted effortlessness and finding the perfect balance in hold myself in moving stillness whilst pushing myself further into the abyss - bending or extending that little bit more) - dw, I L o v e Thāt now 🤣
I remember urja76 didi (in context to teaching hastak) saying that movement should be grounded by the breath; an inhale for extension and an exhale to come back to the centre. This became my mantra for Thāt, allowing myself to first breathe into the time cycle and let that guide the movement to follow (and sometimes magic happens!) ✨
So a reminder, whatever is happening to just keep breaaaaathing 🌬️

Creating a work of this magnitude, for a new audience (first time presenting work in India) with less than 3 weeks of studio time was a real challenge, but co-creating and choreographing with sennilava was such a beautiful process! I’ve learnt so much from you in such a little time - looking back and feeling super proud of us - missing you immensely sennilava!
