because if it doesn’t happen now, idk when else it will. personally find these projects very therapeutic so idk what that says about me lolol BUT highly recommend doing!!!
we collect so many random screws and wires and manuals over the years, dump them all in a cabinet and then when the time comes to find it… ya don’t. 🫣
🔨 my tips if you plan on doing:
- go one area at a time so it’s less overwhelming
- take everything out and place in an area where you can see it all properly
- make piles of similar items (screws, anchors, tapes etc)
- ask yourself if you really need 7 screwdrivers or can you part with 5 of them 🥲
- order pouches or normal ziploc bags work with labels

i wanted to wear gender neutral colors, something timeless and a sari felt fitting for the occasion. organza poofs up and is harder to drape, net felt too see-thru with my bump… so the moment i saw this tissue organza blended fabric, i knew this was it.
arbyrheakapoor NEEDS to be on your shopping radar!! their designs are stunningggg and my outfit is layered with aari, dabka and gota embroidery.
ishamultani thought about every styling detail to pull this look together. was her idea to add the double mint dupatta, the ‘baby shah’ blouse tassels 🥹 and helped pick out my jewelry and accessories!! gbless her creative brain.
shyam went with a tried and tested pleinmen kurta and vest set to compliment my dupatta. easy and classic.

![in 2004, i started learning kathak from anindita aunty at nrityangankathakacademy and my mom would drive me an hour each way for her classes in indianapolis!
in 2008 we moved to cleveland, but our connection didn’t end there… in 2016, my bhua (dad’s sister) started taking classes from anindita aunty too!!
the backstory is that bhua learned bharatnatyam when she was 7 and completed her formal training. and when many of us forget about hobbies in our later adult years, bhua made time to learn a brand new dance form.
she is a full time pediatrician, serving children with complex medical needs, the director of her clinic, among many other professional roles. amidst this all, she trained for her rang manch pranaam (first kathak solo performance) over this past year!
it was sooo beautiful watching her own the stage with confidence and grace!! such an incredible milestone… and that too in her 50’s! hope this inspires you that it’s never too late to pursue your own passion. 👏🏼💃🏻
