📍 save this if you’re heading to japan! morioka, iwate prefecture > 2 hr 30m bullet train from tokyo • rent a car to get the whole experience (we recommend booking with a local company like nippon for as little as £40 a day!) • visit the mountains in hachimantai • traditional hotel we stayed at > mori-no-kaze oushuku ホテル森の風鶯宿 • vintage shopping at 2nd street > 〒020-0022 iwate, morioka • get pizza > shizukuishi soul kitchen, 54-6 kakiki, shizukuishi, it may be because i’m biased cause josh spent many years here, but if you’re looking for an actual ‘off the beaten path’ place that I have never heard anyone else talk about, make it morioka! it’s a gorgeous spot in japan, and much cheaper than the likes of tokyo and osaka! you’re also gonna be hard presssed to find anyone else who’s been here and there wasn’t a tourist in sight 👀 comment below your japan recommendations that are actually ‘off the beaten path’ to help others who want to find actual hidden gems in their trip 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 2025-09-11 23:32:02 .. 141 -68% 3 -71%

📍 save these tips for your trip to japan to get the coolest (and comfiest!) trainers 👟✨ - onitsuka tiger stores across tokyo (and even osaka and kyoto!) can be really busy, if you want an embroidered pair they are only offered at this store, the red concept store in ginza - head there for 10/10:15am on a weekday to get a good spot in the virtual queue (maybe earlier on a weekend) - the shopping experience during your time slot is chaos - you also cannot find out if they have the colourway you want in your size until you’re down there yourself (after hours of waiting!) so make sure you prepare to be disappointed and maybe come back another day! - you are in a virtual queue you can check the status of online so you can leave - my hotel was a 15 minute walk from ginza so I actually popped back to my hotel for a bit until shops opened up (they don’t open until 11/12 in tokyo!) - if you want onitsuka trainers and aren’t fussed by the embroidery then just go to a quieter store that isn’t a big one - we found the ones in tokyo & omotesando station to be very quiet with loads of stock! - don’t forget your passport for the tax free discount!! you are allowed to wear and use clothing items bought tax free in japan > the only items that will be sealed until you leave are perishable / food items! hope this helps anyone wanting to grab a pair of these trainers when you’re in japan and let me know your thoughts below 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 2025-08-18 23:08:09 .. 586 +33% 16 +53%

📌 save this before your trip to japan!! 🇯🇵 1. bring a collapsible duffle bag 💼 skip buying an extra suitcase in japan, duffle bags are lighter, so you can pack more! we’ve done this on every trip, including japan! you can also split your weight allowance across multiple bags (for free!!), & just pay for any extra kilo you may have (we had 10kg over, which isn’t bad after 3 weeks of shopping tbh!) 2. get the ‘suica’ app 📱 forget your card .. just top up suica in your apple wallet! it works just like apple pay on the london tube which is so handy & It also tracks your route in real-time, which is great if you get lost (like me lol) It was accepted in about 70% of places we went for shopping / food too! also it’s only available on apple (boo!) so if you’re an android girly just get a physical suica card from any large subway stop like josh did 3. get your international licence before you go! 🚙 It’s cheap, easy, & essential as you CANT do this when you’re in japan! spoiler - renting a car was the best decision we made! we saw places with 0 tourists, found cheaper vintage shops, & yes - they drive on the same side as the UK so you’ll be fine, I promise 😆 also go for a local rental company (like nippon) they were WAY cheaper than the big name international ones! 4. buy an eSIM 🤳 this makes travel so much easier, especially for google maps! I use airalo_uk (not an ad, I just always use them!!) but there are loads of options available & I do this in every country now! 20gb is enough but not going to lie, I had to top up on the trip cause I ran out (lol) 🤪 but you can top up really easily in the app! 5. download the NERV app ⚠️ It keeps you updated on natural disasters in real time, we were there during a recent tsunami warning & it turned out fine, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry! if you have any other tips for people before they head out drop them below, and happy holidaying ✈️ 2025-08-06 23:55:52 .. 359 -19% 15 +43%
