THIS might just be the best burger in Houston 👀

Drove nearly an hour in the rain to The Woodlands for chefaustinsimmons wagyu burger popup. Simmons, the former exec chef of Tris, is serving these up ahead of his new restaurant opening in 2026.

Menu? Just one thing: a wagyu burger made with beef from his own ranching venture chefandrancher , topped with cheese, secret sauce, and a soft potato bun. Juicy, beef-forward, and simple perfection.

Officially #1 on my Houston Area burger rankings. Make sure you’re following chefaustinsimmons to keep track of their burger popups.

If any Houston spot is getting ⭐⭐ in the Michelin Guide, it’s gotta be March. This marks my 4th Michelin-starred restaurant in Houston and it blew me away. From a plush lounge welcome to a nine-course tasting inspired by the Levant, every detail—from NA pairings to cologne-scented towels—made it unforgettable.

Part 5 of my Houston Korean Food Series 🍜 My buddy Soon of un.caffe.roastery took me to a new instant ramen spot with 100+ options. I went with Jin Spicy + pork bulgogi, fried onion, and mushrooms, heated in an induction cooker 5 minutes 👌 For dessert, Soon put me on his favorite combo: ice + banana milk + americano 🥛☕

Officially checked off every Michelin Key hotel in Houston ✅ Today’s stop was Hotel Zaza Memorial City. I stayed in their Beach House suite, a breezy coastal-inspired retreat with two king beds, a spacious living area, and a private balcony. From champagne at check-in to cookies waiting in the room, fried coconut shrimp by the pool, and coffee from the butler’s pantry the next morning, it was boutique luxury with resort vibes. Big thanks to the staff for an incredible stay! 🌊✨

Houston’s only Italian restaurant on the Michelin Guide 🇮🇹✨ Welcome to Rosie Cannonball, part of the Goodnight Hospitality group (the same team behind one-starred March), so you already know the food is going to hit.

I kicked things off with charred shishitos & peaches—smoky, sweet, and refreshing. Then came the lamb ragu, spiced with Calabrian chili and cooled with minted yogurt, easily my favorite bite of the night. The cacio e pepe pizza was pure comfort, rich and cheesy with that peppery kick you usually find in the Roman pasta. And to finish, their house-favorite honey cake layered with smoky burnt honey, dulce de leche cream, and tangy gelato. 🍯🔥

Back at Houston’s favorite run club with a twist—this time we kicked things off from hotelsaintaugustine 🏃‍♂️✨ Whether you’re running 2 miles, run-walking, or just walking, looselacerunclub is for everyone. After the run, it turned into a whole block-party vibe: vendors, yoga, coffee, even ice baths (shoutout joana_bianchi for surviving 3 minutes 🥶). Huge thanks to tuckcascadden for leading the charge and aaronbludorn for co-hosting 🙌

Brunch at Squable in the Heights showcases why it’s one of Houston’s most acclaimed spots. Highlights included the Dutch baby pancake with bacon and maple butter, beef fat tater tots topped with salmon roe, the breakfast bolognese with a perfectly fried egg, and a decadent chocolate hazelnut budino. The bill totaled $132 before tip for two guests.

✨ Houston Michelin Guide Prediction: Potential One Star ✨

basohtx opened in late 2023 and has quickly become one of Houston’s most talked-about dining experiences. Named after the Basque word for “forest,” chefs Jacques and Max bring a primal philosophy to the Heights where ingredients go straight to the fire and then to the plate with bold and unembellished intensity.

The space feels raw and immersive, with concrete walls, low lighting, and a glowing hearth that sets the tone for the entire night. The menu mirrors that vibe, leaning inventive and unapologetically focused on earth, fire, and flavor.

I went with three friends which meant we got to sample a wide spread. My personal favorites were the pork chop and cornbread while my friends raved about the ribeye, pepper toast, antelope, and snapper. Pro tip: do not just stop at the Basque cheesecake, order the seasonal desserts and ice creams too.

Our total came out to about $550 before tax and tip for four people.

✨ Checking into one of Houston’s only Michelin Key hotels – Hotel ZaZa Museum District zazamuseumdistrict ✨

Originally opened in 1926 as The Warwick, this spot now blends boutique luxury with bold Texas art at every turn. The chic courtyard pool, lined with loungers and greenery, is a vibe in itself. I stayed in the crown jewel Black Label Suite – 2,200 sq ft of pure indulgence with marble, chandeliers, and a balcony soaking tub overlooking Hermann Park.

Wrapped up the night at Monarch with their famous Lamb Lollipops and Crispy Buttermilk-Dipped Chicken Breast – both as decadent as the hotel itself. 🥂🍴

✨ Houston’s hidden gem just made the list! ✨
Bandista, the intimate speakeasy tucked behind a bookcase inside the Four Seasons Houston, was just ranked #59 on North America’s Best Bars. 🥂

Step inside and you’re transported to a 1920s Latin-inspired lounge, where every cocktail is both art and science. Think vacuum distillation, clarified creations, bespoke gins inspired by perfumery, and “Dealer’s Choice” cocktails crafted just for you. 🍸

What makes Bandista even more special? They regularly host global bar pop-ups, like the one I attended with Sabina Sabe from Oaxaca, Mexico, featuring cocktails made with Lost Explorer tequila and mezcal. 🌎🔥

This is actually the first cocktail bar I’ve ever posted about, so tell me, should I keep sharing more of Houston’s best cocktail spots? Drop your favorites in the comments below. 👇

✨ Today we’re visiting one of the most popular Venezuelan restaurants in the Houston area — welcome to Duke’s Venezuelan Food in Katy! 🇻🇪 Most people don’t know this, but the largest Venezuelan community in Houston is right here in Katy, earning it the nickname “KatyZuela.” Duke’s has been recommended to me by so many people, and I finally got to try it.

I went straight for three of the most authentic dishes on the menu:
🧀 Tequeños – golden, crispy pastry wrapped around melty cheese, the ultimate Venezuelan party snack.
🥩 Pabellón Arepa – stuffed with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, and queso fresco, a perfect balance of savory and sweet.
🌽 Full Cheese Cachapa – a sweet corn pancake folded around gooey cheese, pure comfort food in every bite.

Let’s visit Houston’s most viral bakery popup! 🥐✨

Casita Bakes has blown up on social media for giving us a behind-the-scenes “day in the life” look at how their pastries are made. They only pop up on weekends and the hype is REAL—the line took me about 45 minutes, and trust me, you’ll want to get there early before everything sells out.

The menu is stacked with creative spins on classic pastries and desserts: churro cheesecakes, flan, cookies, cinnamon buns, and of course, their iconic croissants. I tried four croissants and their butter pecan monkey bread:
• A bow croissant with stunning layers, perfectly crisp + buttery
• A classic almond croissant, flaky, golden, dusted with powdered sugar + almonds
• A mango croissant stuffed with silky cream + juicy mango chunks
• A round croissant twist dipped in chocolate, dusted with pistachios + topped with strawberries
• And finally, their gooey, nutty butter pecan monkey bread 🍯

Everything was delicious, but my favorite? The mango croissant 🌴—buttery, flaky, creamy, and bursting with tropical sweetness in every bite.

IF YOU’RE EVER IN THIS SITUATION YOU NEED TO LAND IN A SAFE SPOT!!! 🚨🔥

Today that spot is The Pit Room, one of my go-to BBQ joints in Houston. As part of my mission to visit every restaurant on the Houston Michelin Guide, I had to stop here. They’re known for Central-Texas–style BBQ: smoky, pepper-forward, and minimal sauce.

I went with the 3-meat platter, brisket, pork ribs, turkey—plus elote 🌽 and mac & cheese 🧀 (the elote is a must). The only downside? My plate came out a little cold. BUT their tacos more than make up for it, the tortillas are made fresh in-house and griddled in rendered brisket fat. Trust me, you need to order one. 🌮

Come with me to Houston’s Theater Week 🎭✨

If you’ve been wanting to check out Houston’s amazing theater scene, this is the week to book your tickets. From August 18–24, you can snag one of nearly 400 performances across Houston’s 2025–2026 season with a special buy-one-get-one ticket promo. visit_houston

🎟️ Use code HTW25 at checkout to unlock the deal.

Participating venues range from some of the city’s biggest institutions, like the Hobby Center, Wortham Theater Center, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, and one of my personal favorites, the Alley Theatre.

I’d recommend making it a whole night out: grab dinner before your show (I went to Frank’s Pizza, one of the best pizza spots in Houston 🍕) and then head just a few blocks over to the Theater District.

Houston, Latin Night at the Museum was WILD 🪩

Mixers & Elixirs has been the event of the summer at hmns , and this one was their biggest yet, completely sold out with over 5,000 people dancing across multiple floors 🔥

Before you even walk in, there’s a lineup of food vendors from the braeswoodfarmersmarket . I kept it simple with a hot dog, but there’s something for everyone 🌭🌮

What I loved most? People were actually dancing—not glued to their phones. My cousin Jerry was TEARING UP the Paleontology Hall 💃🕺

If you go next time, don’t just stick to the first and second floors like we did at first—there’s a hidden DJ room on the fourth 👀

This was the last one of the summer, but don’t worry, they’ve got Footloose Flashback at the Sugar Land museum on Sept 19 and Spirits & Skeletons on Halloween 🎃👻

✨ Today kicks off my new series: staying at every one of Houston’s best hotels — and we’re starting BIG at Texas’s only Forbes Double Five-Star Hotel & Spa and one of Houston’s only hotels with a Michelin One Key ⭐.

For my first stop, I checked into The Post Oak Hotel, and the hospitality here is next level. I stayed in the Executive Suite, featuring hundreds of square feet of luxury with sweeping Houston skyline views, a king bed with Egyptian cotton linens, smart technology, and a marble five-fixture bathroom with dual vanities, soaking tub, and separate shower 🛁.

The food? Unreal. I had:
🥐 Almond croissant from Bouchée Patisserie (flaky perfection)
🥩 Steak & lobster mac & cheese from Mastro’s Steakhouse (top tier)
🍪 Room service chocolate chip cookies (some of the best I’ve ever had)

I also loved the Concierge Lounge — the perfect spot to work or unwind with snacks, an open bar, and panoramic views of the Galleria and Downtown Houston. Honestly… I could stay here forever.
