As I approach the end of my 300-hour yoga teacher training, I’ve been reflecting on why I teach, why I share pieces of my practice, and why I sometimes catch myself posting just to post without the deeper intention behind it.

This past week in book club, we talked about purpose, why we practice, why we teach, and what keeps us coming back even when life feels busy or overwhelming.

It reminded me that yoga has never been about the perfect poses. It’s about connection to our own bodies, to our community, and to the world around us.

Hi friends, if you’re new here I’m Hilary, a Tampa-based yoga and sculpt instructor who loves the heat, the music, and the community that comes with moving together.

I’ve been an athlete my whole life but after I turned 30 I hit a stuck point. I felt out of shape and wasn’t sure how to get back into a consistent routine. Sculpt and yoga changed everything. They made me feel strong again, reminded me that I can do hard things, and gave me the confidence to show up for myself.

Now in my second year of teaching my mission is to help you feel that same mix of strength, confidence, and presence whether you’re taking class with me in person or following along here for flows, sculpt workouts, and tips you can use on and off the mat.

Here’s how to turn your Warrior II into a power pose — not just a shape.
These are the cues I’ve been loving lately to bring more strength, length, and purpose into this classic posture:

✨ Invite yourself to take up space — lengthen your stance forward and back.
✨ Drive your front knee forward to create space between your hip and thigh.
✨ Track the front knee toward the pinky toe — this lights up the outer hip and supports your knee.
✨ Ground through both feet like you’re pulling your mat apart underneath you.
✨ Hug your heels energetically toward each other — feel the inner thighs and outer glutes engage.
✨ And remember: your back glute is your anchor. When it’s on, the whole pose becomes more powerful.
