New build's aren't renowned for their plentiful storage - so we like to add it wherever possible! As it's a pretty small room, we wanted to create a seamless look across the back wall to maximise space - symphonygroup (pr/gift) Aquadi range was perfect for this, elevating the look and providing lots of useable storage and counter space! Recently refurbished, every inch of this building oozes opulence but in a welcoming and non-pretentious way. Traditional panelling and antique brass fixtures provide a nod to the history of the building, while seamlessly combining contemporary details to create a destination that is truly memorable. We loved our stay here as it truly felt as if every part of the guest experience had been carefully considered and catered for.. even the guests with four paws, as this hotel is dog friendly! Rob took the time to get to know Ralph, asking about his likes, dislikes and character quirks - so we felt confident he was in great hands! Then it was time for dinner, in the hotel’s Burr & Co restaurant - which had a menu to cater for all three of us including plenty of vegan and dairy free options - as well as a delicious doggy dinner for Ralph! A special mention to Betti, who went above and beyond to make us all feel very welcome (including Ralph), implementing every tiny detail to make our stay extremely special. Our standard new build shower room was lacking in storage and beauty, so we decided to give it a little upgrade using Symphonygroup ‘Valencia Matt Platinum’ Bathroom Units. Introducing our hallway transformation! [Follow my design page scarlettjessicainteriors for more transformations]. We actually finished this last year but I haven’t had a chance to share it so here it is… better late than never. This hallway and open gallery landing was one of the many reasons we bought this property, we loved how much of an impact it made as soon as you came through the front door! But we wanted to add a little bit of character and warmth to it (plus we were re-decorating anyway because of some structural work), so here’s what we did: ✨ Added Beaded Mouldings to the walls to create panels which followed the contours of the stairs. Oh hello there. Long time, no see! It’s been six months since I last posted on here and what an unexpected half a year it has been. In December, I received a diagnosis which took a little while to process. Two surgeries followed and I took some time away from work to recover. Thank you for your patience and kind messages wondering where I was ❤️ I feel extremely grateful that I was able to have time to heal. I’m slowly feeling more like myself and plan to ease myself back in gradually. You can expect for a few things to change a little around here! Last year I began studying interior design, teaching myself how to render in 3D and helping out with a few local renovations; and although I had to press pause on this, my little project scarlettjessicainteriors will be launching soon, so I’d love for you to come over and say hello. I’ve always LOVED the creative process in making a house a home and remember making ‘mood-boards’ with a glue stick and the Argos catalogue as a child. I look forward to sharing this exciting new journey with you! ad. Another look at the incredible chevalcollection Old Town Chambers, in Edinburgh. This place is truly something special - each apartment has been beautifully renovated for modern living, with sleek finishes and a nod to heritage design and colours. This is their beautiful guest lounge - and it’s giving me ALL the interior inspiration. I love this dark blue and yellow/gold combination. The apartments, which consist of luxury, deluxe and loft one-bedroom and open plan studio apartments, plus three unique one-bedroom penthouses, offer unique views onto the Royal Mile and the cathedral or towards Princes Street Gardens. Each apartment has its own kitchen - which I always think is such a luxury when travelling - but pretty essential when you have a dog who only eats a certain type of food which has to be kept refrigerated…! Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities, so I feel very lucky to have squeezed in a visit, especially at Christmas time - as it’s a place that really knows how to celebrate the festive season. We stayed at the Cheval Old Town Chambers - a beautiful 18th century building, located on Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, with serviced apartments you could rent out. We actually stayed here in 2016 and said to one another that we’d love to stay again one day, so we are thrilled we could make that happen! This time though, little Ralph came along with us - as each apartment is pet-friendly. Since our last visit, they have completed a beautiful extension which includes 24 new apartments, a brand-new reception area with a dedicated retail offering, and a lounge available for guest use. Choosing your venue is always the first (and arguably most difficult) part of planning your wedding - however for us, we instantly fell in love with offleyplace Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire which pairs character and charm with modern elegance. The venue has two options for couples - the smaller orangery with a beautiful rustic brick wall or a much larger ballroom, with a grand glass roof. We opted to hire the venue exclusively, giving us both rooms to use on the day. Our more intimate ceremony was held in the orangery/conservatory while the ballroom played host to our reception & was the perfect place for a huge starlit dance floor & hanging lantern installation. The venue was amazing from start to finish, even in the midst of a pandemic when they were able to keep us upbeat & positive about our upcoming nuptials. Planning a wedding can be daunting however with an events background under my belt, I figured I’d have a little experience to lean upon. I met Charlotte officiallafete while planning a bloggers event in London several years ago and we instantly clicked, fuelled by our shared love of pretty details and decadent floral displays. Charlotte has a great eye for detail and an incredibly impressive background in events so when she offered to help support my vision for the day, I took the opportunity with both hands. It turns out, planning a wedding is very different to planning an exhibition or a bloggers event & so I’m extremely grateful for her help and advice. Charlotte has been a reassuring presence throughout the wedding planning process, talking us through all the decisions and details so that we wouldn’t miss a thing! As much as I adored my rikidalal ‘Donna’ gown, I knew I wanted something a little more floaty for the evening because we hoped there would be plenty of dancing & drinks on the agenda! I fell in love with this beautiful tulle gown from chichiclothing ’s bridal collection & decided to add my very own Scarlett twist by customising the neckline. Still on a wedding high 💍 ad. Thank you for the love & kindness on my previous two posts - it means the world to us and still feels very surreal given that for over a year we had no idea if or when we’d be able to go ahead with our wedding. All the worry and waiting was worthwhile as we had the day we always wished for! Weddings are supposed to be a celebration of the love a couple shares and the things that they enjoy most. For us, we wanted to create something magical, romantic and fun - and the suppliers we worked with really helped bring that vision to life. 🌸 Flowers. sarah_maylin_flowers and fleurdelaceuk worked together to create a floral wonderland in the conservatory at offleyplace using dried pampas, pink English roses and gypsophila. They also created a beautiful ceiling installation using delicate chains of cherry blossom, ruscus leaves & silk wisteria which framed the aisle & trailed down towards our ‘centrepiece’ - the moongate! 💍 Dress. I actually chose my beautiful rikidalal_official gown back in December 2019 & picked it up last summer, in anticipation of our first wedding date (later postponed). So after hanging in my wardrobe for over a year, I was excited to be able to actually wear it! Riki Dalal are couture wedding gown designers with a focus on magical, fairytale-esque designs & after trying on many of their spectacular gowns, I fell in love with the ‘Donna’ which has a strapless bodice embellished with falling petals and pearls and multiple layers of romantic lace and tulle on the skirt. It was a really beautiful modern yet timeless design that felt very ‘me’! Since the train of the dress was relatively understated, I took the opportunity to ‘go big’ with the veil! 🥂 Bridesmaids. I feel so very lucky to have a truly wonderful group of girls in my life who are supportive, kind and beautiful inside and out. They all looked stunning in their ‘Candance’ gowns from babaroni.co.uk in this rich Mulberry shade. We kept the bouquets simple, with small bunches of gypsophila in the hands and hair.
