ad| 🥟 In Korea, mandu (만두) means dumpling - but it’s more than just a word. Mandu is comfort food, a family tradition, and a dish that shows up at every celebration. bibigo.uk have absolutely nailed authentic Korean mandu - the kind with silky wrappers and flavour-packed fillings that are the real deal. How good are they? Even my mum’s backing them… and trust me, that doesn’t happen often 👀🔥 And the best bit? Now you can get them all over the UK. If you live in London, watch out for the next market. It happens every three months.

When I first met the founders of the market, I was surprised. It was two young women who grew it from just a few stalls to more than 40. They began with Korean brands, but as the market expanded, it opened up to all small businesses. No PR team, no marketing budget, just one goal: to support small brands.

I met so many amazing makers, and while I couldn’t grab every Instagram handle, I tagged the ones I had the chance to meet or create content with : lokoli___ _drago_london katscribblz yugucafe ovening_london eolbeat

Ever seen a 30kg jackfruit opened right in front of you? At rayagrocery in boroughmarket , they do it almost every day at 1PM. The staff cut through the tough shell, pull out the golden pods, and serve it fresh so you can actually taste the world’s largest tree fruit on the spot. (No samples)

And it’s not just jackfruit. Raya’s shelves are filled with fruits you don’t usually find in London, rambutan, mangosteen, snake fruit, custard apple, rose apple, even banana passion fruit. Plus freshly pressed sugar cane juice and all the Thai ingredients you’d want for cooking at home.

ad| since I started making content, only twice has a brand insisted on paying me. Both times it was small independent businesses, one of them being YoYo Lao’s Sauce. So I decided to donate half of my fee to the Mines Advisory Group (MAG), the same charity yoyolaossauce supports with every bottle they sell. You can also find more information at minesadvisorygroup

You can find more information on my Newsletter, but Laos has been one of the most affected country due to Vietnam-American war and there are still 80 million explosives that hasn’t been detonated and still people are killed or injured everyday. And MAG is working hard to make Laos a safer country.

YoYo hot sauce is a hot sauce that won many awards like UK National Chilli Awards, European Hot Sauce award and even three Great Taste. And if you like spicy food like me, you will absolutely love Extra Hot YoYo Ginger Chilli sauce. It has a good habanero taste with strong ginger flavour which I don’t think I have tasted in other hot sauces. It is very addicting and unapologetically Asian. And once I tasted it at Selfridges, I immidietaly wanted to make a video, and YoYo was more than happy to be part of it.

I saw several videos about how good Gordon Ramsay’s Wagyu Burger was. And then immediately after that, I saw bitetwicefoodreviews about how bad it was. So I had to go see if this viral burger was actually good or bad.

keiryian facial expression said it all

And I didn’t know Wagyu can be so dry. For almost £13, it felt more like a money grab using a famous celebrity chef name. And I thought with cheese and a lot of pickle could save it, but it couldn’t. For a cheaper price or similar price, there are so many better burger places like black_bear_burger meatgram burgerandbeyond and more.

At meatgram , you can get a lunch special for less than £15 (burger, fries and a drink) or you can even get black_bear_burger at deliveroo using code “SEP7OFF” and get their special deal, meal deal for 2 where you get 2 burger, 3 sides and 2 drinks.

Episode 3. Golden Dragon Dim Sum Review.

This is my third visit to a dim sum restaurant in #chinatownlondon . First was Joy King Lau and the second was Tao Tao Ju. Most of you guys mentioned to visit Golden Dragon, and surprisingly it was my first time visiting.

Although I think Tao Tao Ju has the tastiest dim sum, but when we consider price and the vibe, I think the best is #goldendragonchinatown .

Golden Dragon has that dim sum restaurant vibe with red and gold interior, bright lights and round tables. It was full of Chinese families on a Tuesday (it was during the strike as well) and the service was super nice where the staff constantly came to check on us and chatted with us.

The dim sum was great with extensive menu and I loved their specialty dim sum where you cannot normally see at other Chinatown dim sum restaurants.

There’s just one small detail to update: the shop was founded by Korean Chinese, but it’s now run and owned by South Koreans.

And they will be also serving food at market.root this weekend (13.9 and 14.9). Check their profile for more info♥️

Yanji in Bethnal Green is a Chinese BBQ spot that serves Korean food. And there is a reason for it.

And here’s the thing: Korean 양꼬치 vs Chinese 양꼬치 aren’t the same.

In China, it’s more like a street food. big skewers, heavy on cumin and chili, grilled over charcoal.

In Korea, it came through 조선족 (Korean-Chinese) communities. The skewers are smaller, dipped in a dry spice mix, and always with soju on the side. And you can try that version in Bethnal Green. The seasoning is lighter so even for someone who is not good with lamb skewer can easily have it a go.

I thought Ryan would not like it, but we ended up eating the whole box that day 🤭

Yakgwa is one of Korea’s oldest sweets. It has been around for more than thousand years. The flavor is soft and steady. It has the sweetness of baklava, the richness of shortbread, and the chew of mochi.
In London, _drago_london is one of the rare places where you can try it fresh. And Audrey will be showcasing four more at Market Roots where London’s Korean creatives come together. The snacks will be all tradition and are :

And now you can have 4 more traditional snacks at market.root which are :

🥯 Red Bean Cookie (통팥쿠키) → A flat cookie filled with sweet red beans. Soft, mildly sweet,
🥞 Baked Rice Cake (찹쌀파이) → A small chewy rice cake, mixed with nuts, and topped with a light crumble.
🍪 Black Sesame Cookie (흑임자 쿠키) → Two black sesame cookies sandwiched with black sesame buttercream. Nutty, earthy, and rich in flavor.
🍘 Seaweed Wafer Roll (김전병) → A crispy rolled wafer sprinkled with seaweed flakes. Light, crunchy, and a mix of savory-sweet.

Market Root is part market, part community space, filled with designers, artists, food makers, and small brands. It will be a different kind of market, and I will be there on Sunday to support my friends ♥️

They started as a tiny stall near Spitalfields and in a year grew into this café/bar. And true to their name, KAIHO̅, meaning “freedom”, they want to make it about welcoming everyone in.

And their fruit sando looks like it was made with a ruler, neat, balanced, and just so Japanese. The vibe’s spot on. High ceilings, super clean layout, a corner where you can flip through rare Japanese LPs, and big speakers. Plus, an outdoor space right by the canal if you wanna just sit and chill.

Criticize me on how I can get better at making recipe videos or cooking in general.

I have been trying to make the best dishes I eat at restaurants at home. Instead of just making it the usual way, I wanted to see what happens when I combine two classics which is Galbitang and Huaxi noodle soup.

Galbitang is a clean and comforting Korean short rib soup. Huaxi noodles from Guizhou are spicy and sour. It is all about the toppings. Scallions, cilantro, mustard greens, and of course a big spoon of Lao Gan Ma which originated from where Huaxi noodle is originated.

So I brought them together in one bowl. Clear broth, fall apart short ribs, and the Huaxi toppings on top. Galbitang with a Huaxi twist. Comforting but with a kick.

You can find the full recipe on my newsletter which you can find my page on my profile.

Literally THE Best in London ❤️ challenge me if you find a better one.

lokoli___ asked me to join her and londonoppaya to try Tonkatsu in Clapham Junction. Apparently the restaurant went viral among Koreans, cause there was a picture on Thread where the owner was bringing a panko machine from Japan. And when I tried it, I knew why wanted the panko machine. Cause It was crunchier yet still moist.

Even the soba was EXCELLENT. it is hard to find good zaru soba in London (they have at eat Tokyo but it was not good), but we finally got one.

Hijazi Corner in London is the very first Saudi restaurant in Europe. It brings those traditions here, with floor seating, fresh rice always made the same day, and dishes that feel both new and familiar. And it was truly a Saudi experience you can do without leaving London.

In Saudi culture, meals are often eaten on the floor around one big platter. Everyone shares together, using their hand, and it reminded me of how in Korea we also sit on the floor to eat. Different countries, same way of making food communal.

Here are the dishes I was recommended.
🥘 Mandi lamb – smoky, tender, made for sharing (it’s the big circle plate)
🍝 Kabsa rice – spiced and deeply flavored (it is a darker side on Mandi rice).
🫕 Saleeg – creamy rice dish, like Saudi porridge (it was different but so addicting)
🥮 Motabbaq vegetables – folded pancake stuffed and fried
🍲 Margoog – Saudi stew with vegetables and meat with raw dough
🍞Tamis bread – hot from the oven, perfect for scooping

I went to OKKO, a Japanese izakaya near Victoria Park. It is a pretty well known Japanese restaurant if you live near #broadwaymarket . But they recently opened a new one in Victoria where they focus on charcoal grilling where you can get robata to grilled lamb chops. It is mostly a gluten free restaurant (or you can always opt in for gluten free options).

And A couple at the next table told me they come here often because proper gluten free Japanese restaurants, let alone robata ones, are hard to find in East London.

They’ve got handmade gyoza prepped fresh every morning, miso lamb chops grilled over charcoal with miso butter, and a Japanese Hambagu steak, the Yoshoku-style patty that’s rare to see in London. There’s also butas kakuni (soy-braised pork belly with onsen egg), miso glazed black cod, and karaage with yuzu mayo.

It’s a real local vibe restaurant that serves a lot of Japanese comfort food and I will definitely back for the Hambagu steak.

Most people don’t know this, but Korean butchers break down meat into way more cuts than a British butcher. Even ribeye isn’t just ribeye — it gets split into the “shrimp” cut and the round ribeye. That detail means more variety, more flavor, and the kind of BBQ you can’t get anywhere else in London.

And that’s why Treestone Butcher in New Malden is special. The owner was the first Asian butcher at Smithfield Market, faced heavy discrimination, and still rose to the top before opening London’s best Korean butcher — a place where craft and resilience meet.

But it doesn’t stop at the butcher counter. Right next door, Treestone runs a Korean BBQ restaurant where you can grill your own meat or order their new set menus that come with all the banchans — and honestly, the price is surprisingly reasonable.

And I didn’t know sambal was supposed to be this spicy, and please don’t water it down, cause I absolutely loved with my cute sweat on my nose 🌶️

From the outside, Warung Nusantara looks like a regular fish and chips shop in Fitzrovia, but there is also a Indonesian restaurant. I even used to live nearby on Warren St when I first moved to London and had no idea it was also an Indonesian restaurant there. A follower told me about it, and that’s when I found out you can ask for their Indonesian menu.

The food is straightforward but feels homemade. Fresh sambal, marinated fried chicken, and handmade fish cakes. It’s one of those small restaurants you probably wouldn’t notice unless someone told you, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re looking for Indonesian food in central London.

Khanom Krok are one of Thailand’s oldest street desserts. It’s tiny coconut pancakes made with rice flour and coconut milk, crisp on the edges but soft and custardy in the middle. They’ve been cooked for centuries on cast-iron pans with round wells that fill the air with a sweet, toasty aroma. They’re simple, but deeply nostalgic, the kind of snack you can never stop at just one.

And in London, Khanom Krok is the rare spot that not only makes these pancakes fresh but also reimagines Thai sweets for today. Alongside the classic coconut pancakes, you’ll find dishes like mango sticky rice and even their playful “mango sticky rice Spaghettieis,” where ice cream is pressed into delicate noodle-like strands. The rest of the menu balances comfort and tradition, from chicken massaman curry to beef panang and pad thai, but it’s their desserts that make this place feel both timeless and inventive.

Did I mention that their #mangostickyrice is one of the best I had?

Two Point Thai is a small family owned Thai restaurant in #marlyebone . It has been around since 2014 and they use a lot of dishes from their grandmothers recipe where you can see you picture on the wall. You can see customer’s drawings, family photos on the wall. It really feels welcoming.

And there is the food. So Ryan’s and I went to Two Points after visiting nu.seoul (Nuseoul video coming soon!). First time, I just ordered Pad Thai which was great. And then Pang DM’ed me and wanted to show what Thai people normally order. I wrote a newsletter what I ordered, but the dishes were something I wouldn’t normally order cause I’m probably basic. And all the dishes were great. I wish it could have been spicier (personally) but it was all great. And I kid you not, keiryian is going back today with his Hungarian friend.

And Ryan could not stop saying to Pang that he needs to go back to Thailand now, and the Pang said whenever you miss thailand, you can just come here. And that is true. and I believe their grandma’s recipe has made a lot of people feel like home.

No shade to Japan Centre, It’s just Hinaga London was much better.

Kakigori literally means shaved ice. But at Hinaga, they build it with ingredients popular in Japan, like a Hojicha milk base or seasonal berries.

I ordered the Sweet Potato & Mascarpone kakigori with a Hojicha milk base. The large size was massive, and every layer had more sweet potato and mascarpone hidden inside. Even the smaller Mixed Berries & Yogurt kakigori had flavor all the way through.

Everything is made fresh and sourced with care, from the yogurt to the matcha. They also serve matcha drinks like the Hojicha Latte, Iced Alphonso Mango Matcha, and Iced Strawberry Matcha. My favorite was the Hojicha Latte. The others were good too, but honestly I don’t drink much flavored drinks, not because I dislike them, but because I already eat a lot, and I don’t want the extra calories. This is one of the most exciting Korean spot that opened in recent month since Miga.

Why?

So, back in the day, dabang (다방) wasn’t just a coffee shop. It was where poets, musicians, and blind dates all collided over sweet “dabang coffee.” Fast forward and the word is reborn as Youth Dabang (청년다방), where the soundtrack isn’t jazz records but with tteokbokki pan. And somehow, it all still feels connected.

The same goes for retro snacks like Salad Bread (사라다빵), a bun stuffed with potato salad that sounds wrong but tastes so right, and twisted donut (꽈배기), a twisted sugar donut every Korean kid grew up chasing after school. Even the shimmering mother-of-pearl (자개) in old furniture has that same energy: everyday things turned into heritage. And now you can all experience at #angeldabang

And I never thought I would say this, but kimbap was a real surprise. They use salad brad ingredients in kimbap and it tasted unique yet so tasty. And I loved bulgogi and egg may salad bread. And you cannot really beat £1.5 twisted donut. The owner said because it’s a local business, he is trying to keep the price as low as possible.

ℹ️ One of our follower, hsuweich , told me about it. So I reached out to Angel Dabang for collaboration.
