- Welcome to our new followers! After a much-needed social media break, I’m back! 😍 My name is Courtney McLeod and I am the principal of Right Meets Left Interior Design, an NYC-based luxury residential design studio. I founded the company in 2012 following a 15-year career in real estate private equity. A totally natural transition! In fact, for me it was. 😉 Way back in the day, I debated between pursuing an architectural design degree or a business degree. When I was accepted to my dream school of Wharton, I chose that path. But I maintained my love of design and pursued opportunities to travel and learn more about the decorative arts over the years. I also moved 8 times in 15 years simply because I loved designing new spaces for myself. Completely crazy I know, but the design love was deep. Approaching 40, I realized it was time to pursue my dream of a career in interior design. I truly took the proverbial leap of faith - quitting my job without a clear new direction. I spent the following year learning technical skills and as luck would have it, I met the loveliest homeowner who took a chance on me and became my first client. And Right Meets Left was born. The name is a cheeky nod to my mix of creative and analytical backgrounds and a great summary of my approach to the design process. I am so proud of how much the company has accomplished over the years. My mantra from day one has been design as a pursuit of joy! Fearless use of color and pattern are my secret sauce. And a bit of kindness never hurts. I am the luckiest lady to be able to create beauty in the world and make people happy for a living. I hope you will join me for a peek into my design world. Take it from me, it is never too late to bet on yourself and chase your dreams. All are welcome! To Joy! 💫😊 Portfolio Photos: John Neitzel #interiordesign #interiordesigner
- Family living room Right Meets Left designed for the new documentary series Breaking New Ground on HBO Max. The first 4 episodes are streaming now! Custom rug: makrosha_ny Behind the design: When looking for a truly unique rug design, Makrosha is our first stop. Our collaborations over the years have been some of my favorites so I knew the studio would be a great fit for the project. For the family living room, we wanted something unexpected that would be very easy to live with for future kids. Esha, the owner of Makrosha, showed us her design inspired by an antique rug. I already knew what the sofa and curtains would be, so I knew bringing in a huge, abstracted animal print rug would be an unusual pick. But the rug border sold me - that pink! It’s just such a cool combination. I also liked the earthy tones of the main rug as a grounding element for the hot pink sofa. The original rug border ground was black and the animal print was a bit darker and high contrast. We collaborated on a custom pink and blue color way with a softer print. When the sample arrived, it was an easy yes! The rug is high-quality wool and the overall pattern is stain camouflage. Just because it’s kid friendly doesn’t mean it can’t be totally glamorous. 😉 Thank you makrosha_ny for your generosity and another fabulous collaboration! #rmlidbng #BreakingNewGround
- I am thankful for the joy and beauty in my life. I am thankful for the incredible Black women who have shown me love and support this week and always. I admire them so. I only hope I have given them the same.
