A perfect way to end last week’s Fall Break shenanigans— minnetrista ‘s Boo-levard Bash 🎃 First time showing up in super mismatched costumes—Cassie was a Squishmallow, Xavi was a Jurassic Park dinosaur, Gabi was a regular dinosaur and Addie was Baby Shark. I had a witch hat and Marco had a Pikachu shirt 🤪 We’ve always tried to attend this local Halloween community event not for candies but for the experience itself. It’s always fun seeing everyone gather in their fun costumes especially the little ones. I’d have to give it to this year’s organizers because they had a system in place. The maps helped mark the candy booths and there was a clear start and finish; less people cutting in line. There were still enough activity booths for kids to do/make some crafts and I loved how they gave options to purchase pumpkins/fall items, marked photo ops and added the Headless Horseman. We accidentally bumped into Cassie’s pre-school best friend, Lucy and we were able to catch up with them while we were in line for candies. To top it all off, the weather was perfect! Part 2 of 2 || 📍 Tokyo Disney Sea As promised in Part 1, here’s a list of attractions we experienced that are (young) kid-friendly. You can also check out a separate reel I made for the “Things we ate in Tokyo Disney”, to give you an idea on what food or treats to try out in Tokyo Disney and how much it’s going to cost you both in Japanese Yen and US Dollars. Just for reference we got in around 9:30 am and left an hour and a half before closing time because we were exhausted. Part 1 of 2 || 📍 Tokyo Disney Sea A lot of people will give you tips and tricks on “how to make the most of your Disney Sea trip”, where to go first, which route to pass, which ride to do first, which rides are well worth it and which rides aren’t—-Well, this isn’t one of those. Sharing how our trip to Disney Sea turned out as a family of 6 with 4 kids under the age of 10 during Summer. Unlike other families, we didn’t have a plan walking in. We looked up the rides in advance and kinda got a feel of which rides we didn’t want to miss and just decided to enjoy the entirety of this experience. I felt that we were less stressed and not overwhelmed because there wasn’t a “rigid plan” in place. It wasn’t complicated, we checked the map on the app which rides we wanted to do and checked on their waiting times. We’d find the shortest one and head to the general area of that ride and we just enjoyed the walk going there. We’d buy a souvenir or try out food if we saw something we liked along the way. With a 2-year old in tow, you really need to be flexible and I felt like the less expectations we had, the more we enjoyed the experience. I would like to note that falling in line at the entrance is your first “line experience” with the kids so make it tolerable so they don’t dread it inside. Here are the 3 crucial things we forgot on our first day: an UMBRELLA, a MINI FAN and a WATER CONTAINER. We only brought a disposable water bottle with us that day thinking we could just buy more drinks, I’m glad we kept it because buying drinks still takes time even if vending machines were all over the place and sometimes it’s just more convenient to refill water bottles in the middle of lining up (yes, they put water stations so you could keep yourself hydrated while you’re in line) I’ll make sure to list all the rides we ended up doing in Part 2. Finally sharing accommodation info for our trip to Tokyo Disney. We originally wanted to avail of a Disney Resort Package but I’m glad they were all sold out when we were trying to book it. Apparently, people start booking those 4-5 months prior to their vacation so we ended up booking hiltontokyobay and we couldn’t be happier. It was way cheaper than what we would have paid for a Disney Resort Package and it is LITERALLY right next door to the Disney Theme Parks. For us, we were only in Tokyo to visit the Disney Parks anyway, in fact I wish we had more time to explore and enjoy the hotel but the kids were pretty ecstatic when we booked one of their fairytale themed rooms plus we ended up having free breakfast with our booking which saved us money and gave us more $$ to spend on the food at the parks. We have no complaints with customer service, they were very helpful and patient even with the language barrier. (They have their handy dandy translator handy so no need to fret) And for our last day at Tokyo Disney, they even stored our luggage at the lobby after checking out and helped us figure out how to avail of tickets for the bullet train to Osaka. For a family of 6 with little ones, the biggest thing for me was the Location and the Convenience. Our hotel stay was such a pleasant experience, we definitely don’t mind staying here again for when we come back to Tokyo Disney. Part 2 of 2 || For his actual birthday, I surprised marcomendezona with birthday greetings from his family in California and my family in Texas. He already got an advance birthday present over the summer and we kinda gifted ourselves with new phones just coz it came with a cheaper monthly plan. But for his party I decided to pull the trigger on a game truck and found one from Greenfield, IN. I completely recommend Ryan from elitegametruck , communication was easy and booking the event was no problem at all. I reached out through the website and communicated with him through email. He gave me a quote and I was able to pay using my credit card. He was very welcoming and very patient with the little kids that kept going in and out of the truck. He took the time to explain to the players what games were available and showed the little ones how to use the Wii. I would definitely book him again for future events. Marco turned 40 last September 6 and we’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks now. It was a big adjustment with the kids starting ALL their classes and practices plus it was hard trying to plan a surprise for Marco with him being home. We also had a lot of my family visit us for our birthdays so at least we got to somewhat celebrate it even with our busy schedule. But over the weekend, we were able to finally celebrate with a few of our friends and I pushed for a Star Wars themed party. 06.21.25 || Tokyo Disneyland- Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵 Dressed up as Woody and the gang from Toy Story. I got lazy and just got shirts for the kids, marcomendezona and I were supposed to go as Mr. and Mrs. Potato head but this mama did not have any time to DIY that so I grabbed an alien headband from Disney Sea the previous day and went as one of the Little Green Men 😁 We figured out a the app now and headed straight to the Star Wars ride, Star Tours: the Adventure Continues. We did the “rider switch” or the “child swap” coz Addie couldn’t ride and Cassie and I were in and out. We did a bunch of rides including some classics like the Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. It would’ve been nice to do It’s a Small World because they had a temporary overlay featuring Groot but the lines were long (still nothing over an hour) and we had to leave early since we had to catch a train to Osaka. We took some photos, bought some Japan Disney Treats and headed straight to the hotel to check out. 06.20.25 || Disney Sea- Tokyo, Japan 🇯🇵 Looking back, one day isn’t enough to explore disneysea with 4 kids but we were blessed enough to have enjoyed this experience with the kids amidst the lines and the heat. ☀️ Just to clarify, the lines weren’t even that bad considering that it was peak season. I think the longest line we experienced was for Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey, it was 2 hours but definitely worth it. And I have to give it to the Japanese people, they were very disciplined and systematic, I didn’t feel the chaos at all. Just two days ago I was crying over my third child starting school, last night felt like a blast from the past when we were dancing and singing to Nelly, Jarule, Eve and Chingy at the ruoffmusicenter . Another year, another totally different #IndianaStateFair Experience. No flying dogs, no racing swines—a little bit more chill this time. We just had the kids play a LOT, we built legos, we built giant Legos, bounced on a jump pad, played with sand, rode a few rides, played in the playground, we pet a lot of farm animals and fed a lot of farm animals. Marco worked 11 nights straight as soon as we got back home from the Philippines which meant that I didn’t make my bed for 12 days. 🤪 Those who know me know that “not making my bed” is a big deal for me. I normally start a “productive day” with a made bed 😅 When marcomendezona got off from work, I finally had the chance to change the sheets and try out the new americansoftlinen sheets I got from influenster . We made it to this year’s #FaeriesSpritesAndLights at minnetrista 🧚 The kids were upset last year that we flew back a day after the event so they soaked every minute of it this year. We even watched the performance twice 🤭 We just love that Muncie offers this wonderful and magical event for the kids (and even the grown ups) to dress up and imagine and play pretend. I feel that kids nowadays don’t really get to do that a lot and it was special this year coz daddy marcomendezona decided to come before heading out to work. We met up with our friends and ended up having dinner with our them at Pizza Hut until the rain died down. Yeahhh, that was enough time for the kids to compose a song called “The Storm is Coming”. First time riding with turkishairlines going to the Philippines and coming back to the US—-the whole experience was amazing. The seats were pretty comfortable and I didn’t hear my husband complain about leg space in economy. (He is 6’1) They make sure that their passengers have settled in well, from pillows to blankets to their complimentary amenity kits and more ++ for the kids. Marco and I enjoyed ALL our meals on the flights, the portions were pretty decent which made it impossible for me to finish the entire meal. Restroom experience was not bad at all, like any typical plane restroom it was tight but it had everything you needed and more. I probably changed Addie’s 💩 diaper 3x on the plane and it wasn’t a problem at all. I think the thing that I most look forward to during those potty breaks is the chance to spray on myself the complimentary atelierrebul Green Tea Fragrance 🤭 Can someone PLEASE tell me where to buy it here in the US? And before I get asked, they do board families with young kids ahead plus they try their best to seat families with young kids together at no extra charge. Finally back from our Philippines/ Japan Vacation and it was one of the best trips we’ve taken as a family. Thank you sweetie marcomendezona for making it possible. I think the difference with last year’s trip to the Philippines and this year’s trip is the amount of communication that took place between me and Marco before and during the trip, we also embraced the idea of meeting family and old friends and we didn’t stress out on the ones that we couldn’t meet up with, lastly, I think I’m just in a better mental space compared to last year. I enjoyed every single trip to the salon, to the spa, every massage and every opportunity to grab a mango shake. I got to spend a lot of time with my family, with my Theater Friends, with my Cebu friends and this wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the HELP we had over there. Thank you to all the manangs and manongs who helped us at home, who cooked and served our food, who did our laundry, who drove us around and a special shout out to Manang Alen for taking care of my kids. Thank you for watching them so I could grocery shop in peace, for feeding them so I could catch up with people I haven’t talked to in a long time, for changing Addie’s diaper so I could pack quickly in between trips, for watching them while they swim or staying with them at the play place so I could enjoy my coffee and be on my phone, for being our extra set of eyes. Others may say that “it comes with the job” but it is a BIG thing to people like me and Marco who are so used to dealing with things on our own and treating every situation like it’s a “Make or Break” for our family.
