- He wanted ice cream for breakfast, we said no… He got upset and my husband allowed him to sit with his disappointment and find his way back to calm simply by my husband being calm himself. Feelings don’t last forever. And crying is NOT the enemy - quite the contrary! Hear me out - ✨Our kids crying because of a limit we’re upholding is their process to actually ACCEPT the limit. They know we won’t change our minds, and so they’re processing and internalizing our ‘no’ through tears of disappointment.✨ My husband being a source of safe & calm energy during our 3 y old’s mini meltdown this morning is such a great in the moment example of what it looks like to teach our kids how to cope with big feelings in a healthy way. They learn how to calm down by being shown how! Furthermore, our kids getting a chance to internalise our ‘no’ and to practice accepting our limits in this way is an extremely important process that is way too often rushed or cut short by well meaning adults. For most of us it takes a radical mindset shift to start seeing tears as good and important - For most of us welcoming our kids waves of emotions is a foreign concept that was not in any way, shape or form modelled to us growing up😣 Our natural reaction to tears is to distract, ‘sush’ or scold the crying child. It’s because of our own discomfort, panic and fear of emotions that we either shut them down with our own anger or we find other ways to ‘fix’ their feelings. Sadly, because we have such a hard time sitting with their tears we often end up giving in just to stop the crying - leaving our kids not having had the chance to flex their ‘accepting our no’ muscle only to cry harder next time making us prone to give in again and again…A vicious cycle we’ve all experienced! If you want to work on your ‘no’s and learn how to support your kids emotion regulation skills - I will be opening doors to my best selling online course: ‘Welcoming the Waves of Emotions’ next week! 🎉 ‼️Limited spots - Type WAITLIST for early access🙌🏼 This is your chance to COMPLETELY change how you handle your kids BUG emotions💥 and start the year as the calm, confident parent I know you want to be🥹❤️🙏🏻
- Three years in a row we’ve chosen to stay at the SAME skii resort in Japan - the gorgeous hoshinoresorts.tomamu hoshinoresorts_tomamu_en 🙌🏼⛷️❄️ I always get questions on where to go skiing in Japan - we have tried many different places but the best fit for the WHOLE family (also my husband who is an avid skier!) we haven’t found anything better than Hoshino Resorts Tomamu (we stay at the Risonare) This video only shows the rooms and part of the slobs but I want to make another one with all the different activities on site so stay tuned for that! . . . #hoshinoresortstomamu #hoshinoresorts #tomamu #ad
- Oh just my FAVOURITE birthday party activity ever😇🙌🏻 I’ve done this 3 times for my kids by now and every single time it’s a huge success! Not just because the kids get totally into it - creating, building, imagining,,, actually PLAYING and not just aimlessly running around in pure overstimulation and chaos🙈😅 But also because this activity requires NOTHING from the adult! In fact, the LESS you interfere the MORE these kids are going to play so it’s the complete opposite of the role most adults take on when planning their kids birthday party where SO much energy is spent keeping kids entertained!😮💨 I don’t know about you but as much as I love the idea of throwing my kids a birthday party I keep looking for ways to make it LESS chaotic and MORE truly enjoyable, for everyone involved - I’ve tired many things but ‘cardboard box birthdays’ will forever remain one of the most successful, WHOLESOME, birthday theme I’ve come across so far😍 All you need: ✅Cardboard boxes - any sizes are fun ✅Tape ✅Blankets/sheets ✅Markers What do you think? Would you do this?🥳🎉📦 . . . . . . . #positveparenting #mindfulparenting #mindfulmom #parentingtips #parentinglife #parentinghacks #resilientkids #parentingishard #momlife #parentsupport #gentleparenting #kidsbirthdaytheme #rie #cosciousparenting #respectfulmom #parentinghelp #parentingquotes #playideas #wholesome #discipline #toddlerlife #openendedplay #boundaries #innerchildhealing #independentkids #kidsdiybirthday #birthdayidea #kidsbirthday #welcomingthewavesofemotions
