For decades, I used to dream of being free like this.

Waking up when I want, spending most days sitting out in my bikini… 

Writing, working, doing whatever I feel like…

Not having to talk to anyone (unless I really like you 😂)

And all from anywhere in the world.

Yet somehow… here we are.

We made it. Every version of me.

It feels bittersweet - almost wrong - given the state of the world right now.

Watching so many people lose freedoms and basic rights in the most insidious, violent, horrifying ways.

And while I’m lucky to be where I am now…

Let’s not pretend it was all rainbows and mariposas.

This level of freedom didn’t come without a shitload of chaos, pain and risky moves

All while navigating serious bad luck (if we can even call it that).

Not to mention the wounds that may never heal.

But here's what I’ve learned the hard way:

No one’s coming to save you or set you free.

Not your lover
Not your family
Not your doctor
Not some religion

And definitely not the government 😂(are you kidding?)

Not even AI (yet)

And no, I’m not gonna turn this into a fake gratitude post - it's been very expensive in every possible way.

Most days I’m not exactly thankful for the crazy shit I went through to make it here.

But hey, I AM beyond grateful to finally be safe. 

And for the freedom to never have to wake up at 5:09am again 😂

10 Smart Things I Did in My 30s 😇

As my memoir first draft is getting close to being done

I've realized I made a fuck ton of mistakes over the years.

Mistakes that cost me a shit load of money, time, relationships and destroyed my health in the process.

But hey hey, let's not dwell on that 😂

Here's 10 things I actually did right:

-built a lotttt of muscle
-got divorced (yeppp and I don't regret it)
-quit drinking for a few yrs 
-learned how to regulate my emotions 
-built online businesses for total location freedom
-quit running and long gym workouts
-got obsessed with skincare 
-learned Spanish (I think? But maybe not 😂)
-stopped working like an American tech bro
-perfected my pull ups 
-ate all the carbs at night and got ripped AF

Ok maybe that's 11 things. But whatever. Who needs to count anyway?

Turns out I got a few things right. After all, I somehow made it this far.

Updates on the book situation soon-ish. I live on Mexican time now, so who knows when exactly 😂

2024 brought me to my knees...

That's a long story for another day.

But while navigating through painful, unresolved trauma and endless emotional distress all year…

My body stayed strong.

How I'm regenerating my body at 39

When I started writing my memoir in Feb, I was trying to get it done ASAP.

I knew it'd be hard to write about the darkness and just wanted it over with before I turn 40 in Oct

But in the last month, I've uncovered a hidden trauma in my past 

And had more shocking revelations that confirms this idea I've been playing with: 

The connection between emotional trauma and physical bodyweight is  100% REAL.

Unresolved past trauma stays trapped in your body and it seriously affects your weight more than you think.

Plus it also causes body image issues, weight struggles and adds to depression, anxiety and mental health issues.

But the exciting news is that I'm VERY close to a real solution 

I'm reverse engineering everything I've done the last 3-4 months to get strong again, lose 10lbs, heal my gut, get rid of my neck/shoulder/hip and back pain and even calm anxiety 

All without anything stupid like starving myself or dieting or lifting weights or HIIT or wrestling or meal prep or running or meditation or cold plunges (and watch me prove this is NOT good for women). 

Instead I've been eating a LOT of white rice, testing supplements, no green veggies/salad, microdosing ketamine, doing weird bw exercises and Mexican massage. And also writing until 2am, sleeping past sunrise and crying a lot (not gonna lie, memoir writing is rough).

It's crazy. I've dropped a hefty 6-figs trying to sort out my ongoing mental health dramas 

But all these little wacky experiments I've been doing lately…

Is emotional weight loss really a thing?

When I was in Miami the other day I weighed myself and went WTF

Bc I was lighter than ever

(checked on 5 dif scales to confirm 😂)

This all happened without me realizing

Bc I haven't been physically doing anything different to lose weight

But. I HAVE been doing intense inner healing work

And processing insane emotional trauma I've carried up until now.

So I reckon this 5-7lbs I lost is emotional weight

And sounds woo woo hey?

But it's a real thing. 

Bc this also happened when I got divorced 8 yrs ago

Yet that time I was eating nothing, drinking LOTS of tequila and training so hard to run away from my emotions (literally 😂)

Before my therapist suddenly died a yr ago, he told me that a day would come where I'd have to break patterns, bad habits and eliminate ppl who weren't good for me. 

It was the only way to stop these demons haunting me. 

I remember telling him there was no fucking way I could do that. 

It was too heavy, too scary, too intense. 

Like I'd rather the pain of running a marathon without training than these emotions 

So I ignored it bc who actually ever wants to do this. 

Anyway that day David was talking about came on NYE

Geezuz the timing was awful.

The wrong ppl suddenly left.

But I had enough survival skills now.

Still like fuck. So I retreated to a basement in Mexico as you do 😂

But here's the thing: 

The right ppl showed up to support me. 

Call destiny or fate - who cares doesn't matter. 

These amazing ppl have been there for me and I'm so grateful ❤️

What's crazy is I can feel negative energy releasing my body. 

Like it physically hurts (real thing go check)

And I realized the huge amount of dark, heavy emotions I'd carried until now.

It was just my normal. Fucked up I know.

So even tho I thought this weight loss was effortless

It wasn't. 

Breaking these patterns was very intentional.

Way harder than exercise/diets. 

Good news is I'm not dying! Had to check tho bc it hurt so much, I thought I was dead. 

So I'm ok. And I'll gain back muscle, not trauma

But maybe I did just uncover the secret to weight loss? 😂

How I healed my gut without some bullshit cleanse. Or parasite protocol. Or even probiotics ☠️

Back in Jan, some company tried to sell me a gut cleaning parasite protocol.

And I was like ok. show me the science this works. 

They danced around it, sent me some link. But there was nothing legit.

So fuck it. I'm not giving you my money. 

But more importantly, I'm not taking some shit just bc you the sales girl say it works.

So hey, I did my own experiment. I'm a mad scientist after all. Here what I did:

1-high dose L-glutamine-15g/day for 6 weeks (followed a proven scientific study)

2-micro dosing ketamine (not a proven study tested on humans, only rats. So just my science experiment - don't try this at home kids 😂)

Note on this: yea, you could say this is risky and unsafe. But I take calculated risks. It's why I'm successful. 

Think of it this way: Every breakthrough in history and things that change the world happened bc someone took a risk, right? 

It's my body. So it's my choice. And I can do whatever I want.

Why Summer 2023 was the best EVER

We were at the Acropolis the other day and this Ohio lady asked how exactly we could spend 6 wks in Greece.

(Crypto moonshot baby! Jk)

It’s been the best Summer trip ever. 

Not just bc we took 6 wks away 😂 

(We beached a ton but worked nights and who wants to see photos of that?)

Anyway while most ppl look forward to Summer - a decade ago I used to dread it.

Why? 

Because mine was VERY different.

Take Summer 2010. I'd just started work as a personal trainer in the Upper east side in NYC (getting paid $25/hour 😭)

Little did I know 90% of clients leave the city and go to the Hamptons for 3 months. So your job goes on hold. And no. you don't get paid vacation time 🤣

Well so shit. I had no savings and making money online wasn't a thing yet. 

So I decided to get a Summer job. And I worked my ass off EVERY DAY for 60-70 hrs/wk selling running shoes in a sports store so I could get by. 

And yeah I hated it. But I took the job bc they paid the highest sales commish plus a generous $8.57/hr AND I got free shoes 😂

To say I hated Summer was an understatement. Not only was it 100+ degrees and 95% humidity, but I had to work 3X harder. 

And when I started to make more money, it wasn't much better. 

If I took vacay I was stressed bc I'd lose money not working. Or other asshole trainers would poach my clients 🤯

While ppl would save to take a relaxing Summer trip, I'd save to not go broke lol

Basically I never took time off or had a real Summer

But now I'm SO glad this happened.

Because there’s a lesson:

When there's a down, working hard will get you out of the shit and eventually pay off.

There will ALWAYS be an up. 

That Summer I also learnt how to sell anything. Which btw is the #1 skill you need if you ever want a true life of freedom.

So when ppl like Ohio lady wonder how we live this way, I'm like yo I worked my ass off to get here. 

No one gave me any handouts

And while the journey to get here took longer than I hoped - damn it was worth it. And I'm grateful AF

How to climb a 15,444ft volcano without dying 😂

When I signed up for this “adventure”…

I didn’t realize “hike a volcano” actually meant 

“Rock climb 2700ft all the way to the top and physically touch the summit” 😆

Oh shit what have I done 🤣

There I was.

Following some random Mexican mountaineering dude I didn't know straight up to the heavens.. 

Thankfully my questionable rock climbing skills came in handy…

As we bouldered for what seemed like a day 🤯

Turns out nothing makes you feels more alive than clinging to the side of a mountain… 

Scrambling over unstable volcanic rocks 15,000 feet up… 

While 50mph wind gusts try to blow you off the edge.

Eventually we summited. And touched the peak at 15,444ft…

The 4th highest volcano in Mexico.

(Well that’s what he told us so I’ll take it 😂)

And damn the view made it all worth it!

But little did I know the hardest part wasn’t over yet… getting down. 

And the only way down was via what I called the “sand ski of death”…

A straight shot back down to the lagoon. 

That’s when the altitude hit me like a tons of bricks… 😵‍💫

And the world started to spin and blur like I ate too many gummies again 😂

My head was pounding, my body felt insanely tired and my legs were basically crumbling underneath me…

And I pretty much thought I was a goner. 

Yet after basically tumbling down the mountain for half an hour…

I reached the lagoon.

And boy I’ve never been happier to be on flat solid ground.

Somehow I always find a way to make it back in one piece. 

And would I do it again?

Hell yeah 💪🏼

It’s time to say goodbye SF 😭

The last 7 years here have been quite the ride.

I’ve made of lot of cool friends…

Worked with amazing clients at the gym…

Survived a crazy pandemic… 

Battled with a lot of my demons (and won)….

And gone from being broke AF to building solid businesses… 

Allowing me to live a great life in one of the most expensive cities in America. 

While it would have been easy to just keep living this way…

In the last few months EVERYTHING changed.

A couple of devastating deaths completely crushed me…

Leaving me drowning in the most intense grief I’ve ever felt.

It was a jarring reminder that life is incredibly short…

And my time is running out.

So what was the Universe trying to tell me?

Well I really don’t know lol 😆

But I took it as a sign I need to make a big change.

And yeah, you’ve heard the saying you gotta let stuff in your life go to open the door to new opportunities - even if it’s scary AF.

So I went to the extreme here (bc that’s just how I roll)

And I let go of some clients who didn’t align with my values… 

Let go of my identity as a personal trainer (so yeah I’m officially retired btw)…

Let go of the relationships causing me distress…

Let go of my car who was like my child 😆

And let go of my apartment - and uprooted my whole life - in SF.

(Don’t worry I kept a few things, like my computers, Lululemon clothes and my amazing girlfriend ❤️)

And after doing a “practice” digital nomad life…

I realized this was my next chapter. 

It’s pulling me out of my comfort zone and it’s helping me become a better person.

Like I’m writing winning copy (even without AI yet)… getting leaner and healthier.. and growing my relationship…

And it will only get better and better as I galavant across the world.

So here’s to going ALL IN for 2023!

Because you can’t get strong with an easy life.

What’s the ONE thing holding you back from success? 

I want to share this very personal story with you… 

Because when you see people succeeding it’s easy to think

“Wow they must be happy blah blah”

But more often than not, there’s a dark side.

Tbh I wasn’t sure if I was going to hit send on this… 

So I’m hoping by being vulnerable it can inspire you to make a change.

Anyway here goes.

Alcohol has been my friend and foe since I was 16. 

I used it to have fun.

I used it to numb the pain.

And worst of all, I used it to cope with emotional distress. 

HeyI knew it was a problem. 

But I didn’t really want to quit. Because who ever wants to do hard shit like that?

Drinking wasn’t an everyday thing so it never felt like it was really “that bad”.

Until Jan 22nd.

I was hungover AF and couldn’t for the life of me remember what happened last night.

I was like WTF is happening

I’m thirty fucking seven - I gotta get it together. 

So with the help of my gf and besties I decided to quit drinking for a year. 

But not without losing my shit first.

That’s because:

I was worried what people would think of me

I was worried I wouldn’t be fun 

I was worried I’d be judged

And so I didn’t tell anyone besides my inner circle. 

So here we are.

It’s been hard AF, like at networking events… or being in crazy emotional distress and having to find another way to deal…

But it’s been 6 months with zero alcohol and my life has completely turned around.

Seriously it’s like night and day.

And it’s mostly because I finally have the strength to deal with the shit that was silently sabotaging my success… 

And while doors closed, new ones swung open… 

Like:

I ended a biz partnership… but 2 new and better opportunities came up

I am SO fucking productive and I can get 10X more shit done in less time…

I got closer to my gf bc I was more present (and now we have a healthy relationship)…

But most importantly… 

For the first time in my life I FEEL as successful as I appear. 

And this is all thanks to that scary hard decision I made on January 22nd to face my demons.

11 things I’ve stopped doing in 2021 (#9 has been a game changer)

I thought 2020 was crazy. 

But this year has been a more life changer for me so far… 

And I’m finding myself way out of my comfort zone.

Earlier this year, I decided to step out of the spotlight in the fitness space and pursue my copywriting career with an awesome skincare company…

(I’m not going to name drop bc I don’t want to brag… but they are killing it in the DR space and I’m super grateful)

Anywhoo… 

Re-entry to the world after a year of a rough lockdown in SF affected me more than I thought…

And I took a hard look at my schedule, relationships and wtf I was doing on a daily basis…

Plus I had a chance to think about what’s important and what’s not. 

So basically I decided to stop doing a lot of stuff. 

Like:

1. No more waking up to an alarm at 5:09am

2. No more caring what people think of me

3. No more thinking I have to work 24/7 to be rich

4. No more working weekends (well sometimes I do but hey hitting deadlines is still important)

5. No more taking early morning flights to save money 

6. No more reading the comments section on Facebook posts about the vaccine or covid in general

7. No more getting into arguments with strangers in Walgreens (yes ridiculous but true)

8. No more dating people from Tinder (well that’s recent, but yeah this is my list ok)

9. No more trying to control other people or situations 

10. No more hanging out with people just because I was scared of being alone

11. No more thinking I need to be dating someone to make me happy 

The main thing I’ve stopped doing tho is wasting time and energy on things that don’t matter…

Which to be honest…was most of the shit I was spending time on leading up to the pandemic. 

(So I guess technically that’s 12 things I stopped but this is my list so I make up the rules lol 😆)

However I haven’t stopped drinking tequila or basically living in lululemon clothes...

I mean what else am I supposed to wear? 😂

Anyway I’ve found taking a lot of stuff off my plate has improved my mental health and quality of life…

…even though it’s been a tough transition.

And I highly recommend you try it too.

How many meals should you eat a day? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was out to dinner on Saturday night and one of my friends asked me...

What’s better for losing weight and getting toned: 

3 big meals or 6 small meals every day? 🤔

My answer:

I don’t recommend either. 

Why?

Because everyone is different and there’s plenty of research to show it doesn’t matter. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s more important to be focusing on good quality whole foods and eating when you’re hungry. 👍🏼

For example: 

This was my breakfast. It took 1 minute and 23 seconds to put this together (and yes I eat chicken for breakfast! 🤣)

I usually eat anywhere between 2-4 meals/snacks a day. It changes every day. Some days I’m hungry, some days I’m not. So it fluctuates and I just listen to my body.

Exact size of my meals? Not sure. I don’t meticulously measure or weigh anything. 

Because I just follow my 3-2-1 strategy and stop when I’m full. So every meal is a slightly different size.

It gives me a peace of mind and reduces the stress around food. 🙃

And look in case you’re wondering: your metabolism isn’t going to “break” if you don’t eat every 3 hours 😂

So figure out what works for YOU and your body. 

If you want to eat 5-6 smallies, that’s cool. 

If you want 3 biggies, that’s cool too! And if you want to freestyle like KV and EWYH (eat when you’re hungry), well then that’s awesome! 💪🏼

This is what simple meal prep looks like. I make time to do it once a week. Every week. Either Saturday Sunday or Monday. 💪🏼

Why?

Because it saves me a ton of time and keeps me lean year round. Plus I feel super energized and healthy.

Some people might call this borderline OCD. 😆

But I don’t care. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Because it works like gangbusters for my clients and I.

And it’s the #1 thing you need to do if you want to be lose pounds, and get strong, tight and toned! 💪🏼

Today is a GREAT day to get your meal prep done. Will take you less than an hour. (If you do it right)

As you can see, this is a lot of food for one hungry person. 😆

I’m really into cherry tomatoes, cold brew and turkey chili this week. 😂 

Oh and those black eyed peas I made last night in the Instant pot. They’re actually edible 🙃

Women are always surprised they don’t have to cut out carbs to get toned and lose belly fat.😳

2️⃣ Makes you grumpy as hell! (And that’s the last thing you need right now! 😂) 

Not only does it create mental fatigue, your mood can go downhill....FAST. 
If you want to see KV flipping out, say “no carbs for you today” 😭

3️⃣ Your body gets “soft”

Without carbs, your muscles get depleted of energy and will give you a softer, squishy appearance.

Carbs stored in your muscles gives you the lean, toned look.

Hey if you’ve built muscle, cut out carbs for a few days. (Stay with me here)

And when you eat carbs again a few days later, your muscles and veins will be poppin’ like crazy! (That’s a bodybuilder sneaky trick🎉) 

4️⃣ Reduces your exercise performance

If you’ve ever been on a low carb diet and depleted, you’ll know the feeling of having very little energy to perform in your workouts.

Love it or hate it... KV is not a fan of low carb diets at all. 

Because your weight ends up yo-yoing and it’s hard to maintain results since it’s so restrictive.

However you can’t just eat any old carbs. 

You have to be strategic! 

And eat the right type of carbs at the right time of day. 🌙

5 Rules To AVOID Stress Snacking:

According to a recent poll from my clients, snacking has increased 83% since we all started working from home. 😱

Don’t quote me on those stats lol 🤣

The real problem here is stress, boredom and emotional overwhelm. 

(Hey maybe it’s a combo of all of three🤷🏻‍♀️) 

But look. 

The fridge and pantry didn’t move into your office! 

You can’t let your MOOD control your eating. 

Because if you’re not careful... you can easily pack on 10-15lbs during COVID without even realizing it. 

Our big challenge here is the strategies that used to work in the past to avoid snacking - they don’t work anymore. 😥

Since you can’t just “keep all the snacks out of the house” or your family is going to divorce you! 😂

So you need to make boundaries and rules for yourself. 

You could try:

1️⃣ I shalt not eat standing up 
2️⃣ I shalt not eat after Xpm 
3️⃣ I shalt not eat anything I didn’t plan for
4️⃣ I shalt not eat in front of the computer and TV
5️⃣ I shalt not eat with my hands 

(probably a great idea anyway given the virus situation! 👍🏼) 

Whatever works for you. 

And if you are actually hungry, just have a meal!

I very rarely snack because my meals are balanced to fill me up for 4-6 hours. 

And I’ll eat anywhere from 2-4 meals a day. 

It changes depending on my energy levels - not my mood. 

So be aware of your snacking.
