🎥 Since my days of trying their homebrews at one of the original owners’ backyards after their Bible study more than 13 years ago, my mondaynight homies are introducing mondaynightgrove to their six taprooms across the Southeast. Located 90 feet from their OG location off Trabert in West Midtown ATL I got a sneak peek of this dope addition to the family this past Wednesday; the grand opening starts Saturday, August 23rd, at noon until midnight. Welp! Demolition of the iconic Atlanta Medical Center (AMC) that reportedly opened in 1901 before becoming a 22-acre medical complex has begun, so I had to walk over and capture some of this Atlanta history of especially my Old Fourth Ward neighborhood being transformed into a mixed retail space, among other things. Grady Hospital will especially be receiving more emergencies and those in medical need due to this transition. Let’s see what happens. I know those quiet afternoons will be compromised for the next couple of years regardless. At least I saw some good people and peep how they were playing Outkast. Rest In Power craft beer pioneer, Highland Brewing founder, and my brother, Oscar Wong. We always connected whenever possible when I rolled up to Asheville, talked about his journey, our Jamaican roots, family, and whatever else while sipping his latest creations. Doctors gave him months, he made it years, and it was a blessing he had a chance to celebrate May 16, the City of Asheville and Buncombe County proclaimed Oscar Wong Day. Prayers out to Oscar’s family, the Highland Brewing staff, and everyone recognizing him as the “Godfather of Asheville Craft Beer.” Thank you for being an integral part of my journey, brother.
