- Today we ventured out of Melbourne to the picturesque shore of Ettalong Beach. The BOX on the water is a feast for both the palate and the eyes, this seaside eatery with panoramic ocean views was simply spellbinding. 📍Ettalong Beach Waterfront Reserve, The Esplanade NSW What we ordered. Small dishes: Ceviche 🥗 A fusion of tomatoes, avocado, and slices of white fish Sashimi made a light and refreshing dish for a summers day lunch. 8.2/10 Pork belly bites 🥓 Slow cooked caramelised Fatty pork belly marinated in some five spice type sauce. 8.1/10 Confit octopus 🐙 The boiled octopus and potato/vegetable section topped with a squeeze of lemon juice, honestly tastes just like it sounds. 6.5/10 Duck liver pate 🧈 - MVP 🏅 The Duck Liver Pâté crowned the feast. Its velvety smoothness caressed the tongue, while its rich, buttery taste lingered, elevating each bite of the soft and pillowy sourdough baguette. The perfect marriage of flavors, each slather was a celebration of taste, leaving the alate satisfied and wanting more. 9.6/10 Just Prawns 🦐 As described. Fresh prawns dipped in a special seafood sauce. 5.5/10 Large dishes: Chefs Fish of the day (salmon) 🐟 Perfectly cooked salmon fillet (besutiful pink on the inside) with an especially crunchy skin served on a fresh quinoa salad. 8.3/10 King Prawns 🍤 - close 2nd 🥈 Royalty on a plate, the king prawns reign supreme with their crazily good char-grilled flavor. Crowned with a buttery glaze, they sit atop a throne of black rice, packed with prawny goodness, elevating this dish to its rightful place as the king of the large dishes. 9.5/10 Miso glazed eggplant 🍆 A tender miso glazed eggplant served on (arguably the better part of the dish) a teriyaki soba noodle salad with silverbeet and carrots. 7.4/10 Steak frites 🥩 🍟 Can't go wrong with a medium rare steak and chips 8/10 Pippies 🦪 Fresh Pippies served in a spicy tomato Mexican salsa. A delicious 8.4/10 $59/person got you 1x Small and 1x Large dish Food was delicious, but nothing could best the view. - Today we ventured out of Melbourne once again to a Korean bbq in Haymarket, NSW. The sleek interior decor, fresh cuts of meat and charcoal heated grills made for a truly delightful kbbq session. 📍Kogi - Level 3 Market City, Haymarket NSW What we ordered: Half soy garlic fried chicken 🍗 $19 Crunchy, delicious, tender, juicy korean fried chicken. 8.3/10 Chives pancake 🌱 $18 A huge serving of crispy pancake, accompanied by a sweet, chilli soy sauce. 8/10 Naengmyeon (chilled spicy buckwheat noodle soup) 🍜 $15 Spongy noodles by a sour tangy ice cold soup 7.3/10 Kbbq meats 🍖: Pork belly 🥓 $23 A great cut of pork belly. The blend of fatty goodness and belly meat excentusted by the char grilled coal stove gives this a 8.5/10 Wagyu oxe tongue 👅 $38 The oxe tongue pieces were HUGE. They were the big circular pieces on the meat platter on the bottom. Have never seen oxe tongue that big before. 8.1/10 Wagyu oyster blade 🥩 $42 - MVP 🏅 The A5 marbling on the Wagyu was a perfect combination of fat and meat. - Today we ventured to Haymarket where we ate at one of the highest rated hong kong cafes, known as a popular spot for lovers of Cantonese cuisine. Its also well known for its old school Hong Kong interior decor, and its colourful mahjong tile display. 📍 Kowloon Cafe. Sydney, Haymarket. kowlooncafe.com.au What we ordered: HK style toast - Condensed milk and Peanut butter 🍞🥜 $6.80 Crunchy toast filled with a super sweet condense milk and melted smooth Peanutty buttery goodness. 7.8/10 Crispy Butter Pineapple Bun with Corned beef and Egg 🍔 $8.80 - MVP 🏅 As i sink my teeth into the warm, Crispy Pineapple Bun, with it's buttery top crackling between my lips, i was met with the delicious combination of saltiness from the juicy corned beef egg omelette and sweetness of the Bun, creating a heavenly flavour combination that gave this dish a well deserved 9/10 🎉 Hainan Chicken with Macaroni 🍜 $16.80 Hainan Chicken. Juicy. Tender. Delicious.
