Summer in the backcountry ✨⛰️

So grateful for some of the most beautiful memories and places shared this summer 🤍

Time outside is always a good time.

Let’s be honest, content creation is part capturing epic photos, and part recording bts of the experience - not only for instagram reels but also for the memories!

But we’ve all been there - you try to balance your phone on a rock, it slips, and next thing you know… cracked screen 😩

Some phone cases just weren’t made for the outdoors. But I found one that is!

The TORRAS #OStandQ3AIR case has military-grade drop proof protection up to 12 feet, airbag technology to absorb the shock of a fall, and a 360° rotation stand that allows you to place it virtually anywhere to get a shot from any angle. I put it to the test on the Berg Lake Trail in Canada, and it did not disappoint.

After doing some research I found out that TORRAS is starting to think beyond just tech. They’ve already helped fund the reforestation of 4,000+ trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, and have a goal of 100,000 trees by 2030.

Phone cases are one of those things that typically see a short lifespan, but products like this one are made to last, and protect the life of your technology, so you don’t need to replace your gear as often.

if you’re an avid adventurer, get yourself a phone case that’s designed to last! 📱

A few photos taken back in August, just outside Vancouver, B.C. 🇨🇦

As we hiked the sky was heavy with smoke, and as we left the treeline, we were greeted by a strange mix of sunlight and haze as the setting sun struggled to peek through, making the sky look like it was quite literally, on fire.

It rained a lot this summer, which helped keep the worst of the fires at bay, but looking back at these images made me realize that this has become a normal occurrence here in Canada. Although noticeable, it’s expected. “This has been happening for years!” But will we choose to accept what we can stand to change?

People often ask, “Why does climate change matter?”

And it’s true, the Earth’s temperature has always moved in cyclical patterns. But what we’re seeing now isn’t part of that natural rhythm. Human activity is accelerating a changing climate at a pace ecosystems can’t adapt to.

This creates planetary instability through wildfires, droughts, flash floods, and the gradual unraveling of critical systems that sustain life.

This year especially, those effects feel closer than ever. More and more, climate-related disasters are creeping into cities worldwide, ones that we once believed were untouchable.

It matters because the ecosystems that create beauty like this are what keep us alive. It matters because humans (us!) are trying to build a world that we can continue to enjoy, and one that (if you decide to have children) future generations will be able to live in without imminent risk, the same way we have.

While we can’t instantly reverse what’s already in motion, we can slow it down and create more stable conditions for life.

Think of it like an elastic band: the more we stretch the Earth’s equilibrium, the longer it takes to return to stability. But, the sooner we act, the less strain there will be on that band 🌎

A collection of conversations thomas_garchinski and I had while hiking in Mt. Robson Provincial Park:

“Wow look at all those fluffy things!”
“They remind me of the trees from the Lorax.”

“Do you think I could swim to that iceberg?”
“Not without getting hypothermia…”
“Okay I’ll swim to the little one instead!”

“What happened to all the water?”
“Oops...I guess I drank it all.”

“Did you bring the sunscreen?”
“No...I didn’t think it’d be that sunny.”

“Do you hear that?”
“Woah! That piece of ice just hit the water over there...”

“Nature is epic.”

Autumn in Norway 🍂🇳🇴

The past two years as the seasons changed, I’ve found myself lost in the mountains of Europe. I was hoping road trips through Italy and Norway would become a regular thing…

As much as I miss this place, this year the Canadian Rockies are my chosen autumn background. Finally with a home base, I’m SO enjoying cozy coffee shop mornings and home baking ✨

Although, I can’t believe it’s Oct 3rd and I still haven’t had a single pumpkin splice latte 😩🎃☕️

No better time than fall to start stress posting all the memories from summer! 🌞🌸🏕️

A few weeks back I took a 24-hour trip out to vancouver island for an overnighter with brookthatetravels and paigedeas 🏕️

24 hours of laughs, Kraft dinner getting stuck to pots, Paige falling out of her hammock tent and an 8km hike that Alltrails DEFINITELY lied about. But also tons of inspiring conversations about creating, pushing yourself in business and planning for the future.

Connecting with other women entrepreneurs is always so inspiring. Love both of thee ladies 🤍🥾

I’ve always avoided sharing my Astro photography or photos that are a bit darker. I’m such a perfectionist when it comes to planning and re-planning my feed and they never matched…

But after finally accepting the title of “photographer” and not just “content creator,” I think it’s time to share more of the things I enjoy creating, and some of the magical experiences I have been lucky enough to capture through my travels 📸🌎

Hike out of Assiniboine, they said! It’ll be fun, they said!

Recently wildly.hayley and I did the 26 (actually 32 in the end) km hike out from Magog Lake - and wow, what an adventure. 12 hours in grizzly country carrying waaay too much gear (including two cameras each and props from a shoot).

We started out in pretty high spirits, but every km brought a new challenge, and a few key things that basically turned the day into a survival mission 😅 Between us, we had two water sources: a 1L bottle and Hayley’s CamelBak…which we later discovered was completely empty from a leak. By 7 km in, our only water was gone.

By this point, our feet were in excruciating pain, and Hayley’s blisters were so bad she could barely walk, not to mention I already had a huge purple bruise on my shoulder from the weight of the bag - but we pushed on another 7 km to the closest water source, only to find our gravity filter blocked. After a few failed attempts and no desire to boil bug-infested lake water, we took a quick 30 min to soak our feet in the cold lake before continuing on.

Finally, at a campsite 2 km later, excruciatingly dehydrated (it was about 4:30pm and we’d only had 500ml of water each the entire day, we reached a river and thought we were saved…only to realize our iodine tablets were expired. SO we stumbled around the campsite and luckily found one person there, kind enough to let us borrow her filter. I swear I’ll never take water for granted AGAIN! 😩

By the time the sun began to set, we still had 5 km to go. The trail was littered with new bear scat and berry vomit every few meters, and the grizzly warning signs seemed to multiply the further we hiked. We were definitely on edge…and as Hayley put it, “the bears are using this trail like a highway.” Although, I think we made enough noise to scare most of them all the way to Alaska.

We limped out 12 hours later - boots falling apart, blisters popped, realizing our “manageable” 26km plan had turned into an absolute mission that was utterly exhausting terrifying. BUT at the end of the day, I wouldn’t have wanted to share the experience with anyone else 🥾🫶

Postcards from Vancouver 🌲🏔️

As much as I love the Rockies, the mountains out in BC are just different. there’s magic everywhere you go, but something about this morning’s sunrise was extra special. Maybe it because all my favorite things were in one place: mountains, ocean, and a big city⛰️🌊🌆

Can’t wait to spend more time out here ✨

And don’t worry, thomas_garchinski isn’t trying to throw me off the cliff in photo 4 😅

Life is better in the mountains…especially when you’ve got the perfect boots for chasing sunrise ⛰️✨

I’ve been wearing my poppybarley boots nonstop and not only are they stylish, but they’re giving back to people and the planet too! 🫶🌎

They’re popping up at stonewaters.shop Canmore on August 29th (one of my fav stores in town for all things artsy + interior design) - so if you want to check out some boot styles, this is your chance to check them out in person!

A few reasons I love poppybarley as a brand:

• B Corp certified - meaning they meet high standards of social and environmental performance

• Actually visit + certify all their factories

• Created a low-interest loan program to help factories scale their business and invest in things like solar panels

• Run fun sustainable challenges with their customers

• And every Black Friday they give all net proceeds back through their Black Friday Fund.

Good boots from a good brand 🥾

See you at the Pop-up! 🤩

The places I go to think and dream are typically the ones that feel far removed. Away from the noise ✨

But sometimes escape isn’t always an option, and even in the busiest places, stillness exists if you choose to see it.

Usually we hike to experience complete immersion in the wilderness, but this particular hike offered a unique perspective of the landscape where the ocean, city, and mountains collide.

Th colours, shadows and light dramatically changing as the day faded into night and the sun came up the next morning. A million new perspectives.

This was the perfect setting for inspiring creativity, and the realization that cities aren’t all just noise.

Sometimes when we look at things from a distance, the immersive chaos subsides, and you can finally see that whatever it is, landscape or other, is really quite beautiful.

I’m so happy to be creating things that feel like art again. Thank you BC ✨🤍

The not-so-secret secret is out…spending more time in nature is the best way to raise your frequency✨

Just got back from a week in the outdoors: camping, climbing, and swimming in BC’s beautiful lakes. Filling your days with experiences instead of appearances, material things, or everyday conveniences, really helps you see how little you really need, and how full life can be when you stop focusing on what’s missing and start appreciating what’s you already have 🥾⛰️

// Norway Dreaming //✨

In Sept 2023 joannehollings told me she was heading to Norway and asked if I wanted to come. Of course I said yes - how could I say no to a country that was one of the highest on my bucket list.

9 days full of epic and slightly chaotic adventures (yes, that’s our style 😎) exploring Lofoten - we got rained on, experienced incredible sunsets, made friends with a hiking cat, tried dried fish and some of the best kept secrets bakeries.

Northern Europe definitely has my heart and I can’t wait to head back here. The mountains and the lifestyle here are just SO special 🤍🇳🇴

𝒮𝓊𝓈𝓉𝒶𝒾𝓃𝒶𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝒯𝓇𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓁 // means exploring the world in a way that respects the environment, supports local communities, and preserves cultural heritage. It doesn’t mean never traveling again…it means being intentional about how we do it ✨⬇️

𝒲𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝒹𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝓇𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉, 𝓉𝓇𝒶𝓋𝑒𝓁 𝒸𝒶𝓃:

Put money back into local economies by supporting small businesses/accommodations

Teach us about global social/environmental issues and new ways of living

Reconnect us with nature and shift our perspective beyond daily routines and a “this is just how we do things” way of living.

Content creation + storytelling can help amplify these ideas and inspire others to travel more thoughtfully. Travel isn’t going to stop, but the way we approach it can change!

A few snaps from one of my favourite stays luzhouses in Fátima, Portugal. A boutique eco-hotel built with intention. The property focuses on on growing native gardens, conserving rainwater + energy, and locally sourcing food. Not to mention, the property is museum of Fatima’s cultural heritage!

Some of the most sustainable properties have the best stories to tell. Next time you pitch for a content collab - ask yourself: how can I help this business sure their impact and help inspire a more sustainable travel landscape? 🌎

I’ve always believed the purpose of life is to experience it fully 🌸

But it wasn’t always that way. I used to think the purpose was success. A few years later, I became convinced it was love…to be truly seen, respected, and connected in a deep, meaningful bond. I thought life was best lived in constant relation to someone else.

Then I realized love doesn’t only have to come from romance. Female friendships can be just as powerful, filled with laughter, support, and lightness. They make the journey more fun and the hard moments more bearable.

But even with all that, I was still missing the bigger picture. Underneath every chapter, adventure, emotion, even the mundane moments, was one common denominator: experience.

After years of traveling, I came to see that maybe my entire purpose was just to be. To fall into the human experience, fully and unapologetically. Trying to assign one single purpose to something as bold, and beautiful as life almost feels like a disservice.

Life is meant to be lived. In all its colours, sounds, cultures, flavours, feelings, connections, and adventures. Every moment becomes part of a bigger canvas. I picture my life like a painting in progress. The highs and lows, the colour palettes shifting from dark to vibrant. And often, the darker tones come during the periods of “figuring it out.”

Lately, though, life has felt vibrant. Not because of anything overly extravagant, but because of small, quiet moments that feel soft and fulfilling. Unplanned sunsets. Quiet mornings in the garden. Finding four-leaf clovers. Discovering new parts of Alberta I never would have thought to explore. Eating nourishing foods. Sharing the mountains with my best friend(s) throughout the summer 🫶

Of course, between all those moments are the ups and downs. But I’ve come to see everything in life, both the good and the uncertain, as something that happens FOR you. A memory. A lesson. A new piece of the story.

What’s a moment that’s stuck with you recently? 😊 2025-07-24 23:45:39 .. 304 +19% 12 -4%
Golden hour on Snæfellsnes ✨🇮🇸

Every time I’ve been to Iceland, I’ve experience WAY more rain than sun. Even though I love moody landscapes and being obliterated by sheets of gale force winds, these few golden hours I’ve been able to experience here have absolutely taken my breath away.

📸 some snaps from the past September when aislinfall and I arrived in Iceland and booked it to the only sunny place on the radar for our first evening. We met up with rika.mit.k, an Iceland local and long time Instagram friend. To me, the whole point of travel is connection and experience and when both of these things line up, you get magic ✨

The landscapes in this State never cease to amaze me 😍 Back in summer 2024 I had the chance to roadtrip the entire state with wandervans 🚐

If you’re not car camping and eating oatmeal and cinnamon toast crunch for breakfast, and ham and cheese sandwiches for every other meal because youd rather spend EVERY minute hiking and exploring than cooking, you should probably rethink your trip experience 🙃

One Night in Copenhagen // The Art of Noticing ✨

One of my absolute favourite photos captured along the colourful strip of Nyhavn in Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰

At first, I was initially drawn in by the vibrant buildings, but as I wandered the streets and observed the people around me, I realized this part of the city is more than just a postcard scene. It’s a living, breathing mosaic of movement, sound, and everyday rituals.

A couple sits quietly, watching the boats drift by.

A woman scrolls Instagram as she smokes a cigarette.

A man sips an Aperol Spritz and browses the menu while his wife applies the boldest shade of red lipstick.

A violinist takes center stage, hoping his music will pay the bills…even as people pass by pretending they don’t have change.

I love wandering European cities. These third spaces - the in-between places - act as open-air stages where strangers unknowingly interact to create something greater than themselves. A kind of urban symphony.

Not everything is immediately visible to the eye, but when you slow down, every small interaction becomes part of a larger work of art.
