Happy International Day of the Girl Child!

Understanding the vastness of this universe with space exploration can be that positive shared vision with which next generations will not be idiots but wiser than today's because once the vastness of this universe becomes accessible starting from Mars as just a way-point to go towards stars, new societies, cultures and human values will arise that we can’t imagine yet.

#WorldSpaceWeek is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. The United Nations declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10.

Today’s Renaissance 2.0 era unlike previous Renaissance not dominated by only men but also women.

#Space4women is a project of the #UNOOSA to promote women’s empowerment in space. To succeed in addressing the 17 #SDG Goals and work towards the 2030 Agenda ensuring that the benefits space reach women and girls and that women and girls play an active and equal role in space science, technology, innovation and exploration.

Progress is fundamental to address the societal challenge and the importance of science as a fuel of progress, science pushes back limits of knowledge as without ideas and breakthrough coming from scientific research progress stagnates and hence science must go on and innovation should not stifle which only possible by opening the gateway of curiosity with space exploration.

#HubbleSpaceTelescope
This is #WorldSpaceWeek and how we can skip talking about one of the most successful, productive #scientific instrument and challenge mission of the 21st century. The Hubble Space Telescope has changed the way we think of space and our place in the universe. Hubble’s discoveries have revolutionized nearly all areas of current astronomical research, from planetary science to cosmology, and its pictures are unmistakably out of this world. Thousands of #astronomers from dozens of countries have used #Hubble Space Telescope and analyzed its data to produce more than 16000 peer reviewed #research papers to date. More than 30 astronauts have flown to space to deploy, upgrade and repair Hubble #observatory. Hubble was pretty much the pioneer in this sustained effort and we should be grateful for it. 🙌

Even in the Hollywood movie #Gravity starring #SandraBullock and #GeorgeClooney the crew was on the mission to perform a set of hardware upgrades on the Hubble depicting how space debris can be terrifying hazard for #astronauts.

On 24 April 1990 the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope was sent into orbit aboard the space shuttle Discovery, the first space telescope of its kind. The #spaceShuttle was #NASA's space transportation system to carry astronauts and cargo to and from #EarthOrbit. Hubble is in excellent technical health and is expected to continue its exploration of the universe for quite a few years to come.

To the Moon! 🚀
In 1609 Florence, Italy, Galileo Galilei had taken a newly invented telescope and aimed it at the moon. He used an early telescope to make drawings of the Moon. Centuries later we not only developed the high-powered telescopes in order to look out at the universe but also developed a space program that got us to the moon.

#WorldAnimalDay 🐵🐔🐶🐷.
🐒🐴🐺🐗🐰🦁🐯🐨🐱🐹🦊🐼
This year on World Animal Day world honored and praised Dr. Jane Goodall as she spent her entire life for this cause supporting the animal welfare movement, a fitting tribute to her life and vision. She just passed away, two days before #WorldAnimalDay on 1st October 2025. Goodall's death has reverberated particularly in the communities she was prominent in, such as those focused on animal and environmental protection. On July 14, 1960, Jane Goodall started her study of chimpanzees in the wild, her ancesyears She was considered the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees, having studied the social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees for over 60 years.

The least I can do is speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. - Jane Goodall

World Chimpanzee Day is celebrated on July 14th each year, commemorating the day Dr. Jane Goodall first arrived at Gombe Stream National Park in 1960 to study chimpanzees.

It takes 66 million years to evolve from the tiny marsupials into majestic whales, dangerous 🐅🐯tigers, tough 🐫 camels and amusing 🦇 bat. Eventually evolution produced a unique species, the only living creature that can not only adopting to nature🌿🍃 but also changing it, the being that extracts coal formed of all those dead 🌳🌲🌴trees from millions of years ago to warm up one's dwelling, the creature exterminating other species for money, the creature turning vast areas into a wasteland in pursuit of selfish motives; this is homo sapiens or the humans.

Sustainable development is quite important because as we had many social, cultural and industrial revolution before which results in rapid technological growth and our earth system did subsidize these revolutions by allowing us to over exploit natural resources and undermining bio diversity. But we certainly can't move forward with the same agenda instead we have to consider nature and fit our agenda.

Happy #WorldSmileDay 🙂
The World Smile Day is to devote a day to smiles, appreciating and spreading random acts of kindness that brings smiles to the faces of others through community work, and of course offering your own lovely smile to brighten anyone's day.

The Subconscious Positivity, the mysterious thing inside you is so pure & genuine that it will only fall for The Dream, is really mysterious & prefer to be happy in that way. Hence cannot be explained by you to yourself & others of course, in fact that might be the reason for saying that successful people always have two things #smile & #silence as they don’t waste their energy in explaining the reasons for their being crazy or passionate for certain things until they succeed to achieve it.

Happy #WorldSmileDay 🙂
#CosmicSmiley 🙂
In the centre of this image, taken with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, are two faint galaxies that seem to be smiling. Massive structures in the Universe exert such a powerful gravitational pull that they can warp the spacetime around them and act as cosmic lenses which can magnify, distort and bend the light behind them. In this special case of gravitational lensing, a ring — known as an Einstein ring — is produced from this bending of light.

Einstein's study indicated that if an observer was located at the correct distance, the deflected light rays from around the celestial object would converge to make a magnified image. This phenomenon is known as gravitational lensing, and the amount of bending is one of the predictions of Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity that light should be bent by gravity. Sir Arthur Eddington led an expedition to photograph the 1919 total eclipse of the sun. The photographs he took revealed stars whose light had passed near the sun, and their positions showed that the light had been bent exactly as Einstein had predicted.

There are a number of different ways of working out how much dark matter is out there in the universe. There is the lensing method which can be used to map the distribution of dark matter by how light is being bent through space & comparing it with the bending expected from the visible matter. We also have evidence of dark matter by looking at the rotations of stars around galaxies.

Vera Rubin in the 70s measured the rotation speeds of the stars in some galaxies. Rubin found that the rotation speed of stars did not diminish but remained roughly the same all the way to the edge of the galaxies. To explain that motion you need to invoke some invisible material that adds an extra gravitational attraction to hold the stars in the galaxy. And thats we measure how much dark matter there is in the galaxies.

Dark Matter Matters - Vera Rubin.

#OTD : September 27, 1905: Albert Einstein published the paper introducing the world one of most equations in physics E=mc², the expression that mass and energy can be transformed one into the other.

Einstein, Higgs & God Particle Quest at CERN. 💥💥💥
Peter Higgs wrote his paper in early 1964, his theory was not the idea of a single lone genius like Einstein but democratic idea as it took many sociable geniuses to put this idea together. The Higgs boson can't be “discovered” by finding it somewhere but has to be created in a particle collision. Once created, it transforms – or “decays” – into other particles that can be detected in particle detectors. This is a really the way that particle physics gets its direct evidence by Einstein's famous equation (E=Mc2) relating the energy of an object at rest to its mass times the speed of light squared. It's the energy a particle has when it's not moving, so it enables us to bring into existence new particles with heavier masses than before if we can squeeze a lot of energy into a very tiny amount of space. So that's what a particle accelerator does, it accelerates other particles to extremely high velocities. Once those particles get a tremendous amount of energy together and then accelerator smashes them together, so there's a lot of energy in very tiny amount of space that creates more massive particles. Physicists look for traces of these particles in data collected by the detectors. At LHC experiment to produce Higgs bosons, the two experiments ATLAS and CMS at CERN, both of these are very big and really look like an alien spaceship. They're given lots of energy when smashed into each other. So as we know Einstein's equation (E=Mc2) that tells us that energy and matter are essentially interchangeable. The amount of mass you can make is equal to the energy (E) divided by square of the speed of light (c). So that tells you how heavy the particle is that you can possibly create. And that's one way of doing physics, that's how the Higgs was discovered.

Science, Science Fiction and Cosmos:

Scientists are already interested in conducting research looking for new ways for space habitats of the future or sending more space robotics missions to the moons with tidal habitable zone but science fiction writers are getting way ahead with their imaginations which are reflecting in many sci-fi scenes.

TV series ‘The Expanse’ set in the 23rd century where humans have colonized the solar system and the three largest powers are the United Nations of Earth and Luna governed by our current United Nations (UN), the Martian Congressional Republic on Mars as independent military power, and the Outer Planets Alliance (OPA), a loose configuration of the asteroid belt and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

Overview effect has to be re-understood as in this case humanity is not just limited to Earth and as our perspective might have evolved by this time as the earth is no longer big, but humanity will be.

Passengers onboard the Orion spacecraft🚀

Artemis I mission was the first flight test of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft together that designed to take astronauts to the Moon. The #SLS rocket is an incredible piece of space technology that is crucial to the Artemis missions. Unlike future Artemis missions, Artemis I was un-crewed mission.

Orion capsule was not having astronauts aboard that flew around the Moon and back. Although Artemis I mission did not carried human crew, the capsule had several “passengers” on-board. Captain Moonikin Campos (named after Arturo Campos, an engineer who played a major role in resolving the emergency that occurred during the Apollo13 mission), a mannequin equipped with radiation sensors and acceleration measurement instruments, as well as two identical phantoms shaped like female torsos. Also a plush, NASA’s Snoopy and ESA’s Shaun the Sheep are accompanying them.

The manikins, called phantoms, were manufactured from materials that mimic human bones, soft tissues, and organs of an adult female. Since the female body is more sensitive to radiation than the male in some places, the two phantoms were modeled on women, but the AstroRad vest is designed to protect both men and women.

Also onboard a microchip engraved with the names of nearly 30,000 people who worked on NASA's Artemis I mission. The names were etched using a printing process called electron beam lithography. #NASA flew the names of people around the moon during #Artemis1 mission and these “passengers” before its main goal of landing “the first woman and the next man” on the surface of the moon in the future. The names of all 3 million people who submitted their names to circle the moon on a flash drive aboard the Orion spacecraft during Artemis I mission, similarly now NASA people around the world to submit their names for Artemis II mission.

After Successful Artemis I unmanned Mission three years ago, now we're going back with crewed Artemis II mission.

Happy #WorldOzoneDay 2025
If there's life form exists on planet they alter their environment and by observing such global effects is one of the strategy in astrobiology to detect presence of life. Life does affect the planet and it's atmosphere. And how could we as being intelligent life to understand this harm our own atmosphere?

Ozone layer as a shield is critical for biodiversity and climate stability on Earth. Ozone layer makes life as we know it possible. So let's protect the ozone layer to protect the life itself. We are intertwined.

Studying other planets teaches us how lucky we are be on this Planet  as global warming on venus gave us alarming perspective about the effect of increasing levels of greenhouse gas like CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere. On the other hand the atmosphere on Mars is much thinner and doesn’t contain an ozone layer to help absorb the UV radiation like Earth does which is a big concern as Just like clouds can block some of the visible light on a rainy day, the outer layer of our atmosphere acts as a filter and filters out much — not all — of the UV radiation. Our atmosphere blocks much of the Sun’s UV light that gets you sunburned. The ozone layer in our upper atmosphere forms a protective sphere, absorbing much of the UV energy.

On Earth, we are protected by our atmosphere from most UV radiation coming from the Sun. The ozone layer absorbs much of the UV portion of the spectrum (UVB and UVC). Some still gets through (UVA and a bit of UVB). We can protect ourselves completely by covering ourselves with clothing and using sunblock. Our atmosphere protects us from most of the X-, gamma-, and cosmic rays as well.

We must understand how deeply we are embedded in nature and utterly dependent on the mother earth for our health which we often forget with our daily busy cycle we living in. Everyday has to be celebrated as a worlds environment day by taking action against climate change.

Everyday is #Environment day.

An Intelligent Transport System (ITS) applies technology like electronics, communication, and software totransportation networks to improvesafety, efficiency, and reducecongestion.

Civil Engineer girish.sukal in our family worked on #ITS as his final year project during his Engineering degree. You can see the actual scaled model for implementation of #FastTag technology during highway🛣️ toll payment. FASTag is a device that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly while the vehicle is in motion.

The GNSS-based toll collection system stands as one of the advanced technologies that India is evaluating for future implementation. This groundbreaking technology that offers a seamless, accurate and efficient way to manage toll payments and road usage.

India is set to roll out a GNSS-based toll collection system using satellites to track vehicles and calculate tolls based on distance, FASTag will be officially discontinued across India. A new GNSS-based toll collection system will take its place, charging vehicles based on the exact distance traveled on highways. FASTag will be replaced by the GNSS-based toll system in India.

Science of Small :
Micro technologies solving macro problems which are impossible with classical technologies. For example, as miniaturizing computing hardware, when transistor size reduces to an atom with use of superposition state of electron (like Schrödinger's cat), it can have exponential speed with massive parallel computation capability which can solve very complex problem with enormous number of variables that classical computers can take thousands years to solve.

Quantum computing has the potential to fix one of the most persistent headaches in city life: traffic congestion. A new study suggests quantum computers may one day be given the green light in real life traffic flow 🚦 application revolutionizing ITS systems.

#HappyDemocracyDay
The chapters of history can offer some ancient wisdom like a ray of light from a distant star because it comes and shine on us showing the way in the darkness even though the source of that like, the star from it came long gone and doesn’t exist anymore.

The confluence of the big technologies profoundly changing 21st century and it is critical, the reflection of the fact that the technology is outstripping our ability to manage it effectively as the decision cycle has become so short for making it very challenging to take the important decisions as technology taking off with exponential rate with capacity for overall good if we harness it properly and for bad if not carefully watched, but the systems of liberal democracy are basically moves with linear pace while authoritarian regimes and illiberal democracies or oligarchies in developing nations or ‘banana republics’ are quite fast to adopt and get support of strong digital infrastructure like enormous surveillance as one of them. One of the most important stories in the world right now is the battle to own the future by investing in technology, in which non-democratic states are becoming more assertive, strategically effective and - unencumbered by voters' preferences - able to think in epochal rather than electoral cycles. Since the world has entered a new era of systemic competition between the West’s increasingly short-sighted laissez faire model and China’s state-centric capitalism making us to question that is the current setup of technology incompatible to democracy?

Hence need to think differently which doesn’t mean to throw democratic principles or the values they stand for but have to embrace those values somehow with these new changing worlds, the digital world in the context of traditional system of liberal democracy. So even though authoritarian, oligarchies or illiberal democracies looks like getting ahead of liberal democracies but when liberal democracies makes effort and catches up they will be irresistible.

Classical Antiquity : A light from distant stars.

#OTD : 63 years ago, President John F. Kennedy on September 12, 1962 at Rice University in Houston Kennedy delivered a landmark speech, one that galvanized entire generation and inspired the nation to take up an audacious goal. Shortly after making his challenge, the Apollo program was born; with the speech at Rice, it led to the six Apollo lunar landing missions between 1969 and 1972. It captured the determination and drive for discovery that has been at the heart of NASA's mission from its inception to today.
