- We said goodbye to our gentle, sweet, beautiful Fiji who died December 14th 2024. Fiji was amazing. To watch her on a trail, a hike, or even in the backyard was a thing of pure magic. To see her in her element was spectacular and brilliant. She was a hunter at heart and stayed true to that her whole life. Not a lizard, bunny, squirrel or duck escaped her chase. She was a ball dog till about 7 and then quit cold turkey but, she had loved a good golf ball found on trails and always the dirtiest most wrecked tennis ball she could find. Often she’d pull them out of ponds or creeks, deep in the muck. Every so often to this day if she came across a gross tennis ball she’d bring it for a few tosses. She loved her sister Maui and she was the only dog Fiji ever played with. Fiji actually died on Mauis birthday. Fiji was an independent soul, self fulfilled by nature and creatures, scent and freedom… she just needed you to go outside with her as she never wanted to be too far from us. We called it the invisible leash, she’ll only go as far as her eye could still see us. She was a genius lizard hunter and got better finding them with time. Fiji loved her couch corner and her crunchy pizzle braid sticks, oh and peanut butter. She’d stomp her front paws and chatter her teeth for dinner time… and if I didn’t get to dinner right on time she would let me know with barks and vocal talking. If I brought her to the Legendary Foods office she would go around to everyone’s trash cans looking for snacks. She was an insanely calm girl at home and elegantly wild outside. Out of all the dogs Fiji has the most pictures sleeping or with her tongue hanging out because you can’t catch her easily any other way unless you want blurry pictures so I get her while resting or holding her collar. I miss the space she had in the house. The couch is big without her. I miss hearing her gait and her paws coming down the hallway… I always knew when it was her. I found the most joy watching her out of any dog I’ve ever had because no one loved the outdoors like her. She never wasted a moment and she used every bit of energy she had to eat up the freedom. You will be missed greatly Fiji-bugs 💔
