![foiredechatou this year it’s on from 26 september to 5 october 2025. you’ll find more than 300 stands with antiques, art, vintage furniture, and also food like ham, cheese, oysters, honey. it’s a mix of shopping and eating in a really cool setting by the river.
the foiredechatou is a big antique and food fair just outside paris on the île des impressionnistes in chatou. it happens twice a year and loved learning thag it goes all the way back to the middle ages when it started as a ham fair in paris. it finally moved to chatou in 1970.
—how to get their by public transport
getting there is easy from paris. you can take the rer a train toward saint-germain-en-laye and get off at chatou-croissy or rueil-malmaison, then it’s just a short walk or their cute train ride for free. you can also go by bus or grab an uber/taxi which takes around 20–30 minutes.

bring cash, some places don’t accept cards. also bring bags or a backpack to carry your things.

![affordable michelinguide star restaurants in paris
back lascenetheleme for the 3rd time and it honestly feels better each visit. on rue troyon near the arc de triomphe, this 1 michelin starred spot combining french classics with japanese flavors
lunch menu:
2 course: 49€
3 course: 70€
4 course: 90€ (in the video)
what we tried on the 4 course menu:
summer salad with dried raspberry, pepper, aged balsamic and a cloud of parmesan.
gravlax trout with confit fennel, petit-suisse, sorrel cream and cucumber.
the main was catch from the coast with yuzu kosho, nori kombu, smoked bonito and a delicate broth.
a pre dessert of green shiso, umeboshi and aloe vera, followed by a light pavlova with vineyard peach, olive oil and buttermilk ice cream.
the space itself adds so much to the experience too. the décor is designed by artist johnny lebigot using natural materials like flowers and wood that change with the seasons so the restaurant feels alive and immersive.

![once a year the jardin du luxembourg sells its own honey, made by the bees that live in the park. every year people line up and wait for this jar of honey that is gone in minutes. i love this day. it always feels so special to me. by the time i arrived today, the luxembourg honey was already sold out (first time it happened 😭), but i was able to bring home a jar from saint cloud instead. saint cloud is a park just outside paris with wooded hills and formal gardens (it’s absolutely beautiful and i highly recommend going if you’re visiting paris), and the honey there reflects the plants and trees of that specific area. i’ll just have to wait another year for the luxembourg bees. the luxembourg gardens have kept hives since the mid-1800s, and there is even a beekeeping school inside the park where people still learn the craft today. i love that this tradition is alive and still here to experience

![my favorite jams from france that i’ve been buying for myself and friends and family are latrinquelinette from burgundy. they were created by a french jam maker who wanted to highlight the pure taste of fruit without too much sugar, so each jar is packed with ripe seasonal fruit and just the right balance of sweetness. i usually buy mine at lagrandeepicerie but you can also find them in specialty stores around france. they cost between 7 and 8 euros and are honestly some of the freshest tasting jams i’ve had.
also, this is not an ad, i’ve been buying them for years and always keep a jar at home or to give to someone because 10/10 🤌🏽

![when people ask me what is one restaurant i would recommend in paris, it’s allard_restaurant one of my favorite places in the city. the food, the entire feeling of the space, and the history. it first opened in the 1930s and became famous for its traditional burgundian dishes. my go-to is always the steak au poivre with potatoes (🥔served in their mini staub_fr cocottes)

![my favorite thai dessert after having some of the best mango sticky rice in chiang mai food market in thailand
ingredients for 2
1 cup sticky rice
1 cup coconut milk
3 tbsp sugar, or to your liking
1 tsp cornstarch
1 ripe sweet mango
small piece banana leaf
1 tsp black sesame seeds
method
wash sticky rice 4–5 times, soak overnight.
next day, boil in plenty of water 10–15 min until tender but not mushy, drain (this is what works for me).
heat coconut milk with sugar until dissolved.
stir ⅓ cup of this sauce into rice.
mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp water, whisk into remaining sauce to thicken.
slice mango.
wash and cut banana leaf to fit small cups.
mold rice in a small cup, place in banana leaf-lined cup.
add mango slices, drizzle coconut sauce, sprinkle sesame seeds.
