London has a way of making me feel like I’m in a beautiful, old, romantic Sunday afternoon movie… The city has this effect when I’m just pootling around town, but take me to thegoring and I am in a whole new blissful cinematic dimension.

We went as a family, having discovered that The Goring is not just a wonderful place for adults, but also looks after the little people in our lives. And Izzy had the time of her life. Here are her highlights: 💫

* Hunting for treasures around the hotel, ticking them off in her special booklet
* Having her own, personally designed Knickerbocker Glory made by the pastry chef downstairs in the hotel kitchen… and then having it (and her) escorted back up to the restaurant by the head chef. Coo.
* Reading her very own story book, created especially for The Goring and which was waiting for her on her bed.
* Spotting all of the sheep around the hotel (I believe there are seven…) The late George Goring introduced Bar-baa-ra, to add a country feel to the hotel. And Izzy found one on her bed, for her to cuddle and take home with her 🐑
* The ooziest eggs for breakfast. And toast and croissants and pancakes with maple syrup. And tiny pots of marmalade, which brought immeasurable happiness.
* A mini afternoon tea plate, just for her, complete with jam sandwiches (no crusts - the elation!) cucumber sticks, tomatoes & hummus
* Skipping through The Goring like an “ACTUAL princess”
* Striking the Matilda pose on our private balcony
* The fit-for-a-fairytale lift. Which we frequented several times and always completely unnecessarily, as we were on the first floor. Magic.
* “Union Jack deckchairs, mummy!!”

Thank you to The Goring, for the most enchanting staycation in our favourite city.

Sing it, Perry 💫❤️🐑

Dinner out with my cousins, to raise a glass to us and the Summer ahead… and what better glass to raise than that at thegermangym, picked from their new Kinematographie Cocktail Menu at their Meister Bar🍸

A tribute to the legends of German film, each cocktail is inspired by an iconic title from the golden age of German cinema. The incredible blue drink you see here is the Metropolis 1927: Casamigos Tequila, Blue Curacao, Lime juice, Mint, Wasabi, Mexican lime soda 💫

Served alongside their delicious Summer menu (standouts were the smoked trout, potato salad and HEAVENLY schnitzel) it was an alfresco treat for us all.

Happy 10th birthday, dear bao_london! 🎈

For the first time in 10 years, BAO have unveiled a new menu and have added some brand new dishes while retaining all the much-loved hits. Iykyk.

There is now a whole section dedicated to crisp Taiwanese fried chicken (including a special charcoal fried chicken steak that’s finished over hot coals) a new calamari BAO (LOVED THIS) and the BAONUT, a new creation based on the crispy Taiwanese doughnut.

Take a bow, Bao… we love you. Here’s to the next 10 years! 💫

The beautiful noreenlondon has landed in St Christopher’s Place and all I want to say is ORDER EVERYTHING.

Obviously you can’t order everything. But definitely order the lamb chops - the ‘Riyash’. And the cardamom bun with date butter. And the sea bass and Za’atar and the humus and the prawn hamsa… The dishes are bursting with the delicious flavours of Arabia & The Lavant, which makes it even harder to be selective when choosing what to eat.

Everything was cooked to perfection - melt-in-your-mouth lamb was a stand out for me, and the amazing desserts were not just beautiful, but scrumptious.

We cosied up in their cushions and dined like kings, al fresco, with the hum of London explorers all around.

The perfect spot for lazy lunching, a stone’s throw from Bond St station ❤️ 2025-07-19 16:28:40 The bea.. 0 - 5 -58%
Last Friday I went on holiday to Paris. Around 200 miles away from Paris, on Sloane Square in Chelsea.

Breakfast at colbertchelsea was gorgeous. My friend ordered scrambled eggs with Comte & chives… And of course I ordered the French toast. I practically inhaled it - it’s a knockout. We ate, we our sipped coffees and chatted and people-watched and took in this beautiful part of London in all its glory.

Colbert is “inspired by the Great Boulevard cafés of Paris” and this Summer, they have collaborated with manuelcanovasparis (and the team at ColefaxandFowler) to create a beautifully dressed, limited-edition terrace and beautiful new floral awnings.

When you pop out at Sloane Square station, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in a movie. But to really seal the deal, head to Colbert. It’s a little bit magic 💫 #frenchtoastforthewin 2025-06-30 16:46:34 Last Frid.. 0 - 8 -32%

Yesterday, we gathered at brand-new and very gorgeous pub, thechalkfreehouse, the newest opening from Chef Tom De Keyser (formerly handfmarlow) and The Tom Kerridge Group.

And when I say ‘we’, I mean some of the greatest insta souls I have been fortunate to meet over the years. And it’s been some years :)

The pub stands proudly in a two-storey Victorian property, on a charming street just off the King’s Road in Chelsea.

The food was wonderful, with standouts including The Hand and Flowers’ signature Chicken & Duck Liver Parfait with Poultry Jelly & Apricot Chutney, a Pork Chop Schnitzel with Smoked BaconCabbage and Fried Duck Egg, and the warm Pork Fat Chelsea Bun served with a Vanilla Custard.

Oh and the virgin Shirley Temple cocktail is excellent. Head there immediately.

Kings Cross seems to swell and grow with every new wonder spot that lands, and bubala_london - one of the newest - is a joy and a feast and a warm hug, celebrating the wonder of Middle Eastern flavours and their passion for hospitality. And what can I say - we felt loved.

We trusted in the Bubala gods and went for the ‘Bubala Knows Best’ menu (£46pp) which meant no decisions needed to be made - perfect.

Delicious plates arrived as and when they were ready… and they seemed to be never ending.

Our table filled with Laffa Bread, Hummus with burnt butter, Oyster mushroom skewers, smacked cucumbers, lemon & pepper cauliflower, confit potato latkes and more more more…

Heavenly food, heavenly company (hi, LM) and such a treat to feel like we were welcomed into the Bubala family, for a few hours, one Monday lunchtime.

Thank you for having us, dear Bubala! ❤️

So many birthday FUN THINGS were planned for the last few days, and they keep on coming. Largely because everything feels more celebratory if you stick the word ‘birthday’ in front of it. So a Birthday Coffee here and a Birthday stroll there… and Birthday Supper at newly opened harrysdolcevita in Kings Cross on Sunday.

It’s a gorgeous gorgeous space, with fancy chandeliers and mirrored ceilings and natural light pouring in… and there’s also a beautiful terrace - open all year round - where one can sit and enjoy a birthday cocktail or two amongst the hydrangeas…

The three of us shared antipasti - a spread of Calamari Fritti, Insalata Caprese and Carpaccio di Manzo, before our main dishes. I ordered the Aubergine Parmigiana and it was heaven. And fun. (See video). Pizza and pasta dishes were also ordered, with a side of perfect fries and broccoli.

We collectively decided that we were all too full for pudding. So we ordered Harry’s Gondola’, which we thought would be three mini desserts to share. They weren’t mini. Again, see video. They were heaven.

We dipped our chocolate doughnuts in the chocolate sauce, gobbled up the lighter-than-air tiramisu and even made significant headway with the Amalfi Lemon Sundae - this one was a real highlight.

And then I walked back to the station with a huge smile on my face, having just had a glorious meal in the heart of London, and left feeling like I’d had an evening on the Amalfi coast.

Harry’s is a perfect addition to the family of Kings Cross eateries - right by the station and once you’re through the door you are transported to beautiful Italy. La Dolce Vita itself.

Sing it, Louis.

Well this was absolutely gorgeous.

There is a new English country garden terrace at theroyalhorseguardshotel, and it’s there for the whole of the Summer.

An unexpected and beautiful secluded haven, tucked away just around the corner from Nelson himself and the hustle and bustle of the city… dining al fresco has never felt so magical. With a live growing tomato wall, allotments and views over the London Eye and beyond, it’s very special indeed.

VERY exciting to have my first Pimm’s of the Summer (and what a May it’s been!) and of course I ordered the lamb cutlets - I can never resist. We also had burrata & heirloom tomato salad, salmon tartar and Mizo glazed salmon fillet. Baked Alaska for dessert (HOW do they make this? Amazing) and an Earl Grey Panna Cotta.

The terrace leads directly onto the Victoria Embankment Gardens, which is another secret spot of mine that isn’t really secret at all.

This beautiful terrace is full of charm and is exploding with colours and fragrances, from the food and from the flowers… it’s a truly magical little spot and a perfect place to whisk yourself off to, for a perfect slice of London magic 🌸💕

Postcards from watergatebay 💛
We sipped hot chocolates from their sofas with and gazed at the magnificent views. We swam in the pool and lazed in the lounge… we lunched at The Beach Hut and got Mac & Cheese ‘for the table’ and I ate more mussels than any one person should probably ever eat.

We marvelled at the surfers and jumped over the waves in the sea. We sandcastled and snoozed and read our books.

Swipe for Izzy then and Izzy now.

And for whomever needs to hear this today, it gets easier and easier. And one day, she’s running into the sea with you, reading her own book and telling you that you’ve missed your exit off the M5.

Thank you for having us, Watergate Bay. You’re ever so dreamy.

I’m still in Cornwall, but thinking back to a beautiful lunch I had with LM last week, at mimimeifair.

Their ‘Baskets in Bloom’ are back for Spring - a dim sum feasting menu, from the brilliant brain of brilliant samyuktanair.

We devoured baskets of dumplings - garlic-chive chicken and Crystal Morel. Followed by my highlight - Apple Wood-Fired Roasted Peking Duck, with homemade pancakes.
This was followed by Sichuan Suffolk Corn-Fed Chicken & Cashew Nuts and Clay Pot Black Bean Aubergine, both served with olive fried rice and seasonal vegetables.

Then, just as I was about to roll home, they presented us with their Coco-Mango Vegan Sundae, which disappeared into my tummy. Very fast.

MiMi Mei Fair Is such a hidden gem in Mayfair. It’s tucked away, just behind Shepherd Market and you’d never know that behind the unassuming facade lies such an explosion of epic Chinese food, inspired both by inspired by the Cantonese kitchens in Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Book it now and don’t forget to order the duck. And why not indulge in a Chinese tea and glass of Billcart Salmon Champagne, while you’re at it.

Take me back.

Well here we are, back in Cornwall and loving it all! All the rain and all the sun and all the wild flowers exploding out of any tiny gap in every wall. It’s wild and peaceful. And in the last couple of days we’ve whooshed about a bit and wanted to share some highlights :)

💛Daphne du Maurier vibey views over Fistral Beach
💛Pancakes and full English at seasprayfistral - a lovenewquay staple for us. Get there early for brekky (we did). And so did the amazing woman who had driven through the night (they left at 2am) from Essex with her 3 kids - she was in the queue in front of me and she is my new hero.
💛Sandcastling on Fistral in the shadow of theheadlandcornwall (It was a proper magical kingdom with spells and rivers and servants)
💛Gorgeous salads and coffee at bankstreetkitchennqy - airy and bright and big and spacious and delicious food. Also an exceptional cheese and ham ciabatta toastie for Izzy, meant she was firing on all cylinders for the rest of the day.
💛 The greatest Welsh Rarebit at marinersinrock - always love coming here. It was quite billowy outside and we just felt all cosied up and sheltered away, eating our way through their wonderful menu. There’s a good kid’s menu too - sausages, chips and sweetcorn for Izzy. Parking was a challenge as the car park was full and we ended up getting a ticket. Which I will appeal. Because we shouldn’t have got a ticket. And watch this space.
💛 Watching the tide roll in from the comfort of our flat, and attempting to take a video on my little Leica (sorry it’s so wobbly). I’m out of practice on this camera as I’ve been using my Olympus for so long… but while it’s being repaired, I’ve fallen back in love with my leicauk even though I’m not certain how to use it.
💛 A stroll around visittruro, with a pop-in to gorgeous sabzideli and a must-stop at waterstonestru for their sensational kid’s dept. There’s a fish tank, colouring in, a treasure hunt and chocolate for the children. Well done, team. We ended our adventure there, in the Waterstones cafe, with coffee and lemon drizzle.

Then back to base for M&S fish pie and tea.

So it seems that my Face ID, 27 factor log-ins and all round Fort Knox of a phone was no good to anyone, so it was discarded and then HANDED IN to Margate Police Station 🥳
Cue me, jumping aboard the 9:20am from Kings Cross on Tuesday, and being on Margate beach by 11am. I had just enough time to get to the police station with my ID, have a chat to the receptionist about how I was bracing myself for people standing around in handcuffs but actually it’s not like Eastenders at all, a quick mooch in themargatebookshop, coffee and a sausage roll at giant_coffeemargate with my pal thestorecollectiveuk, before I hopped back on the train - where I sat working on my website - and was home in time for the school run.

There are a myriad of afternoon teas to choose from in London, and they are often delicious and marvellous. But sometimes, you find one that stands out from the crowd, is completely different and it blows your socks off… and that, pals, is this.

The exceptionally talented team at fslondon, have created an absolutely stunning White Lotus-themed afternoon tea, which they served at the Michelin-starred Pavyllon London. The tea celebrates the third season of the series (I’ve yet to watch the finale so no spoilers please!) and beautifully brings a touch of The White Lotus to glorious Mayfair 🌴

Savouries include a delicate chicken dumpling, a curried tiger prawn sando, duck spring roll & a crab & papaya tartlet… all exquisite and prompted much ooohing and mmmmmming, from both me and my pal.

Sweet treats followed, with a black sesame madeline, heather honey cheesecake, coconut & mango salad with lemongrass, a Pandan sweet bun with slow roasted pineapple, and more more more…

The scones were also totally gorgeous and served with strawberry jam, kaya pandan jam and clotted cream.

Totally gobsmackingly amaze. Is my official review.

You can catch this amazing tea for just a couple more weeks, so don’t leave it too late to book - it’s very very special ❤️

Cyprus… I miss it. Following on from my first post, which covered the first couple of days of our trip, here are some more snapshots of the perfect Spring jaunt to this beautiful island…

💫 A jeep adventure around Akamas Peninsula, where we got to see the stunning Shipwreck Edro3 - abandoned in 2011

💫 We walked down to the sea caves and pretended as if we were the only people in the world… such a beautiful silence and quiet, with the sea bubbling around us.

💫 Pancakes for breakfast on my balcony at caliresort and my view of my neighbours’ balconies against the bluest sky.

💫 A visit to St Neophytos Monastry - founded by monk Neophytos in the 12th century.

💫 After visiting the Turtle Museum in Innia Village, we headed to Lara Beach, where so much of Cyprus’ turtle conservation takes place.

💫 Lunch and traditional Cyprus semolina cake at Yiannis Taverna in Kathikas… and me, just mooching about, trying to work out if moving from Walthamstow to Paphos is a stupid idea.

💫 Up and at em in my hotel room in my anthropologieeu skirt, which I bought years ago but people still stop me to ask where it’s from.

💫 A dip in the spa at caliresort… one of the most beautiful hotel spas I’ve ever seen - more pics on my blog this week.

💫 We attended a mosaic workshop at ‘The Place’ handicraft centre in Paphos old town - you can book for this (€6 per person) or a pottery workshop (€10 pp).

💫 Exploring Paphos old town and all its pretty corners, including a cafe with the beautiful Peace2Peace crochet artwork, created by a group of women from all ethnicities in Cyprus, who aim to break down barriers and sterotypes with their art displayed in public spaces.

💫 Lunch at laonarestaurant, before we headed back to the airport, with a menu sent from heaven and a feast to behold…

This trip was so special and was made so by the incredible jet2pics experience, visitcypruscom and the folk I travelled with. Thank you for your wonderful company and fancy pants tech tips, tania.visitcyprus packandpaint spaghettitraveller annac42 theculturemap jlowthrop ❤️

I lost my phone last week in Broadstairs, along with all my photos… and sanity. And after a couple of days of trying to sort out a new phone and speaking with insurance and not sleeping very well, I finally got my new phone and began the (much longer than expected) process of pulling in all the bits and bobs from my previous phone. And there were blips. And there were missing things. And instagram booted me out. And I slept REALLY badly.

But eventually it all got sorted and all is right in the world of Eva and I can FINALLY share with you this total knock-out of a breakfast I had some days ago, at kricketlondon in their latest opening in Shoreditch.

You are seeing The Full Kricket (a reimagined full English, featuring smoked bacon chop - hello) Shahi Tukra, a twist on French Toast, served with rhubarb & custard, Sesame Cruffin with salted date butter, Kedgeree (heaven) and the most delicious chai to accompany.

The space is gorgeous - open and airy, with plenty of quiet corners to meet or work in as well.

It’s a new favourite of mine and I’ve been recommending to everyone I know. IRL. Because, ya know. My phone got nicked.

And just in case I’ve not been clear, GO. Their brekky is just *chef’s kiss* and I can’t wait to go back ❤️

How to convey the magic of Cyprus in the Spring, in just a few snapshots. Impossible. I want to tell you all about how it felt as though time had stood still. That I felt the same as when I travelled through Europe in the 90s as a teenager, listening to the Pulp Fiction soundtrack on my Walkman.

We went in March. The weather was perfect. There is much more in my highlights & my blog is coming soon. But for now, here are some highlights from the first half of our short trip, to this beautiful Island, staying in Paphos ❤️

💫 Hiking the Aphrodite Nature Trail, (with Chase in my pocket - I sent regular snapshots of his adventures home to Izzy)… a stunning 5 mile hike, which follows the mythical footsteps of Aphrodite. We hiked up the mountain for 3 hours to the Akamas peninsula and were rewarded by the most stunning panoramic views.

💫 A fish meze lunch for kings at Yiangos & Peter Fish Tavern in Latxhi Harbour

💫 Gourd decorating with this extraordinary chap - Mr Philippos - at Akamas Rural Life Museum in Drouseia

💫 Treats left in my room at the beautiful caliresort at Coral Bay in Paphos

💫 The most enormous and neverending dinner at antigomezedopolio in Paphos, with traditional live music to accompany us (see highlights!).

💫 We explored the incredible Tombs of The Kings, a UNESCO world heritage site. The monumental underground tombs are carved out of solid rock and date back to the Hellenistic & Roman periods.

💫 We also had a guided tour around Paphos Archaeological site - another UNESCO world heritage site. This was mind blowing, especially the incredible & vast Roman mosaics covering swathes of land… and apparently a farmer discovered them on his land, by chance, in the 60s 🤯

💫 We visited Mrs Sofia at her home in Letymbou Village, who showed us how to make traditional bread, halloumi & ricotta. She also made us a sensational lunch, which again, was neverending. A theme of our visit…

💫 As the sun dipped, we were wine tasting at tsangarides_winery in Lemona Village, accompanied by cheese & fruit.

💫 Stunning sunset from my hotel window at caliresort

There’s something about popping up from the tube at Charing Cross and being met by Nelson, that gives me goosebumps. Every time. Especially on a day like this…☀️

Out I popped and strolled round to the nationalportraitgallery, where up on the top floor is the new and STUNNING theportraitrestaurant by chefcorrigan. The panoramic views of Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s & Parliament are magic - London shimmered in the sun and we couldn’t believe our luck with the weather.

The restaurant reflects Richard Corrigan’s European and Irish influences and the menu brings together his heritage and passion for local and seasonal produce.

The space is gorgeous and the food was all wonderful - a very special spot to dine and we loved it ❤️

We had:

Starters:
Beetroot, Blood Orange, Balsamic, Pistachio
Crispy Poached Egg, Asparagus, Hollandsise

Mains:
Roasted Hake, Crispy Kale, Peperonata, Aioli
Lamb chops, Calcots, Romesco

Pudding
Seville Orange Sorbet, Candied Blood Orange, Shortbread
Soft Serve Ice Cream, Chocolate, Hazelnut

Breakfast at stpancrasbarbrasserie is always a good idea. Tucked away at the top of St Pancras station, it’s THE place to head to for soft boiled eggs and marmite soldiers. And a plethora of other brekky dishes.

I adore this station. The sweep of the roof, the unexpected pianists, the moochy moochy shops and the pink words of Emin, piercing my heart - “I want my time with you”.

And I do. More than ever. Over dippy eggs here, please. If I can be picky. 2025-03-22 22:54:31 Breakfast at stpanc.. 0 - 9 -24%
It’s been a hot minute, but life happened. All balls on the floor. All emails piled in an extraordinarily impossible jumble. Sometimes, stopping is the only thing to do.
All back on an even keel now, but before the sea got choppy, I had an unexpectedly brilliant breakfast at an unexpected location. All hail sticksnsushi.uk in Shoreditch. The bus brought me to your door and I haven’t found eggs to rival yours since.

January has not been the easiest month for lots of us, but in my reframing of the gloom and horizontal rain, I found great solace and comfort in gathering with friends, family and indulging in glorious hearty dishes.

A Jan highlight for me was heading to the river for a feast, cooked up by the ever so clever folk at therivercafecafe rivercafecafe - the first opening from the iconic River Café since 1987, located just steps away from the original.

Now is the perfect time to visit as the seasons begin to shift and magnificent seasonal dishes are being created, like Rigatoni all’Amatriciana, Pumpkin and chestnut soup with pancetta and fresh Rotolo with spinach and sage butter.

The puddings were a bit knock-your-socks off too - the lemon tart is glorious. So zingaling and with the thinnnnnest base you can imagine.

It was such a tonic for the soul and completely delicious. Let’s all go and never leave ❤️
