![Our house is a reflection of us both but sometimes we disagree and have to compromise. That’s how we work as a team. This is a great example of how we can disagree, respectfully express what we want but still move forward — send this to someone who needs a reminder 😉.
I love the color on the door but it looks too muddy on the trim with the wallpaper. Now, it’s time to find another color. What do you think? Go with a more saturated green? A cashmere color? ![3 more Mondays until Fall 🍂. Woke up to a crisp cool morning yesterday and spent it at the Minnesota State Fair. Have you been, yet? I wore my autumn cardigan + jeans and it got me excited for the next season.
I snapped a photo of this Tudor home for sale back in 2017 in a nearby neighborhood on my walk for inspiration— before we added any curb appeal to our own home. I love the window boxes and refer to this photo for my fall vision boards. Summer is my favorite season so we’ll enjoy what’s left of it while looking forward to what’s ahead. Are you ready for fall?

![We rented almost my entire childhood. I lived in rentals up until buying this first house with my husband. It was a surreal and proud moment. While the bones of it were good, it needed a lot of fixing up and along the way felt like our forever home. The home we brought all 3 babies home to 🫶.

![Progress > perfection. 👏
Floating on my back for 52 seconds and swimming underwater for 10?? I would’ve never thought possible. After nearly drowning as a kid, I carried that fear with me for decades. But I’m taking swim lessons at 41—alongside my kids—and every small milestone is a big victory. It’s not easy, but I’m proud of the progress.

Here are two important tips that you can save for healthy + thriving hydrangeas and fall is the perfect time to plant them! 1) Prune at the right time. For us, that is early spring before any buds start forming after winter freeze is over. 2) Fertilize mid-spring right after you see any buds. ![We moved into our home 13 yrs ago, here are some things we’ve done to it — Part 2. Anything surprise you? See Part 1 in my last reel.
When we moved into our house in 2011, we had 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. As our family grew, we knew we needed another bathroom. And we did so by converting a sleeping porch off our ensuite bedroom into the ensuite bathroom. My husband started demoing before the pandemic and it took us two years to wrap up the project. It’s surreal every time I walk in here!
Before our girls’ bedroom was theirs, it was our bedroom right after we moved in. We slept there while we fixed the cracks and painted the entire house. Our girls are now 9 and 11 and it has been a joy for us to transform it into their dream bedroom.
Our basement was very outdated and had that old basement smell. Turns out the wood boards were rotting and there was mold behind them and the vinyl floors. We did this remodel in phases and took about a span of 11 years. Now it’s the perfect movie spot and hang out room.
I hope this series helps you see a home’s potential vs. its move-in condition. And most importantly, that home takes time.

![A lot can happen in 13 years! We’ve been working on our 1927 Tudor home since we moved in and not sure if it will ever end. There’s always something to fix, restore, remodel or freshen up. Home takes time, patience, effort and saving up for each project.
Home is also about enjoying the present while it’s in progress and we have been grateful through every season here. I’ll do a part 2 next!

We got basic white curtains for almost all of our windows when we moved in and they did the job. But it was time to swap them out for something more interesting in the girls’ room. The pink stripe with fringe adds a nice pop of pattern, warmth and texture. It’s thick + nice quality and currently 20% off!

![It has been raining nonstop since yesterday. I was organizing in here earlier and thought I’d show you a 360° view of our ensuite bathroom.
For those that don’t know, this room used to be a sleeping porch. Hence, the french door. We shared one bathroom upstairs with all five of us. This project was on our list for years and we were able to tackle it in 2020. Took two years to complete and worth all the wait!

![On December 2011, we got the keys to our 1927 Tudor.
But that almost didn’t happen.
Another buyer was interested and wanted to tear the house down to build something bigger.
We’d walk an hour to this home from our rental, almost everyday after work, dreaming it would be ours.
Then luck happened.
The other buyer backed out and we became the lucky homeowners.
This home was filled with so much potential.
Year after year, project after project, it became our dream home.
It didn’t happen overnight and it sure didn’t come easy.
Just know that your home may not look like your dream home now…but with time, patience and effort, it can ❤️.

![Do you know about this brilliant “hack”? In just 15 minutes, we replaced our existing mudroom switch to the Caséta by lutronelectronics Diva smart dimmer. We host often and love the ability to dim the lights. It comes with the Pico smart remote to add a second point of control with NO hardwiring. Now we also have a switch by the door which makes SO much sense and wished we did this sooner!
Since it’s a smart switch, we can also use the Lutron app to turn on/off — very convenient for nighttime when we arrive home!
