If you happen to be in Paris next weekend, make sure to take advantage of the Journées du Patrimoine jepofficiel — European Heritage Days — to step inside some beautiful buildings that are normally closed to the public. I was lucky to get a sneak peek of one of them a few days ago: Palais d’Iéna. 
Built by Auguste Perret for the 1937 World Exhibition, it’s an architectural gem just steps away from Trocadéro. It is known for its modernist design combined with classical details, including a suspended horseshoe-shaped staircase and concrete mixed with green porphyry and soft pink marble. The palace also houses a 300-seat hemicycle under a striking double dome. Today, Palais d’Iéna is home to the Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE) cese_officiel. During the Heritage Days, you can explore the building — including its rooftop terrace with views of the Eiffel Tower — meet members of the CESE, and enjoy an exhibition by Bertrand Delais. One year ago, I visited the national library BNF Richelieu for the first time. What a stunning place💛 The garden too! And most days, the oval room is open to the public — for free. Check their website for updated info when planning your visit. BNF Richelieu is located just around the corner from Jardin du Palais-Royal, but it’s easy to miss out on if you don’t know about it. As I did for many years, passing by hundreds of times.. The entrance is quite subtle, compared to what’s inside. If you could choose where to live in Paris — without considering the budget — where would it be? A few days ago, I posted this question on Threads. What strikes me when reading the replies, is how different they are. There are all kinds of areas, preferences and histories, reflecting the diversity of Paris. And the specific characteristics of each street and arrondissement. I have a strong bond with many parts of the city, and find it almost impossible to choose just one. I lived on the corner of Rue Montorgueil and Rue Saint-Sauveur, and would definitely love to do that again. Le Marais, Canal. Saint-Martin. The 9th arr, the 11th, the 12th. Maybe the 6th. But if I could choose whatever I wanted, it would probably be Île Saint-Louis. For me, it’s almost like a sacred place. I come here in the mornings, the afternoons. Walk around.
