We're big fans of the prix-fixe lunch at Recoin, a sincere and simple spot in the 11th. Stop by after the nearby Bastille market on Thursday and Sunday and order two courses for 23.50€ or three for 27€.

And - great news! - they're not closing for summer holiday. However, from August 1-24 they'll be open for dinner only (no lunch). Read our full review of Recoin and grab our guide to what's open in August at the newsletter link in profile.

And take a gander at these delicious dishes:

▶ thinly sliced roast pork with XO sauce and cilantro

▶ blini topped with smoked herring, raw cream, citron and dill

▶ tempura of seiche (cuttlefish) with pilpil and pimenton de la vera

▶ lamb ragoût, served on polenta with baby fennel and topped with obione

▶ crèpine de chorizo - a little pocket of porky goodness, served with delicious beets and an apple ketchup

▶ fig leaf ice cream with mirabelle plums and a smattering of crumble.

Our favorite vegetarian restaurant has a new and very red location in the Marais, and we've just reviewed it in our newsletter (link in profile).

Highlights included:

▶ Steamed artichoke garnished with herbs and nuts and dipped in a coconut peanut sauce (13€)

▶ Kimchi fritters with a sauce of bear’s garlic (8€)

▶ Pithiviers stuffed with sautéed mushrooms and a deeply reduced vegetable jus (13€)

▶ Potato churros blanketed with Tomme de Béarn cheese (8€)

▶ Profiterole with strawberry sorbet, white chocolate whipped cream, and peppery spicy caramel (10€)

It's a cavernous space, and easy to get a reservation. They have quite a few outdoor tables for dining outside on these sweaty summer days. Recommend!

Really hoping that we don't regret sharing this one! Lissit is our favorite wine bar of 2025, with absolutely stunning small plates from chef Claire Grumellon.

Read the review in our newsletter (link in profile), but here's a taste: the vibe is casual, with joyful service from owner Alexis Lissitzky. There's a sweet little sidewalk terrace. Wines are natural, and affordably priced. And you get to eat things like this:

▶ an insane sausage of pork and mussels wrapped in a buttery brioche

▶ a petite cassoulet

▶ zucchini stuffed with summer vegetables and bathed in sorrel butter

Looking for an easy-going wine bar with great food and a large terrasse? We love Trouble, a newish wine bar in the old Pompette space (lower 9th). Small plates come from chef Stefano De Carli, who was formerly at Passerina.

These feather-light tempura battered endive spears were dipped in citrus curd and saba, and were totally addictive.

Also loved the tortelli stuffed with stracchino cheese and swimming in a bright green pea soup.

The veal meatball sandwich with smoky scamorza was more substantial, and delicious.

A Roman-style artichoke was brightened by wild sorrel and a bear's garlic sabayon.

They don't accept reservations, so it's a great option for a spontaneous night out. We've included trouble.winebar in our current selection of 50 Favorite restaurants in Paris - find more in our newsletter (link in bio)!

La Table de Colette is a sleek restaurant with a sincere approach to sustainable dining. It’s tucked into a small Latin Quarter street, just a stone’s throw from the Pantheon. There’s a lovely garden for outdoor dining in nice weather. We especially loved their treatment of celery root seen here, served as a charred steak, a buttery purée, a rich jus and (next photo) a truffled risotto made from riced celery root. We posted a review / love letter for Breizh Café in our newsletter (free to read at the link in profile) and so many people have chimed in to share the love and proclaim their favorite dishes.

Here are a few of the Breizh Café creations we have adored:

▶ Galette with Raclette cheese, grilled pork belly, caramelized onions, scrambled eggs, potatoes and runny crème fraîche

▶ Galette with mushrooms, cheese and egg

▶ The classic complète with egg, ham, cheese and a pat of Bordier butter infused with piment d'Espelette

▶ Vegan galette with avocado, tofu, beet, black radish, green salad and sesame

▶ Galette with pastrami, Comté cheese, cabbage, caramelized onions and yuzu kosho cream

▶ The Carrément Gingembre dessert crêpe with ginger caramel and ginger ice cream

A beautiful lunch on a warm spring day in Paris. The star was this dish of melting potato parmesan gnocchi with chicken broth and shaved black truffles. Also delicious: the daily special of dorade (sea bream) with buttery celery root purée, Hasselback potatoes and mushroom cream sauce. That dish came with a glass of wine and a coffee for only 21€ - such a steal.

After lunch it was time to stroll through the Palais Royal gardens across the street, where the spring daffodils are already in full bloom.

We've read a lot of glowing reports about Aldehyde in recent months. After two visits, we're still lukewarm about this gastronomic restaurant in the southern Marais.

Chef Youssef Marzouk is a warm and friendly presence, but the space and staff are a little cold.

His Tunisian inflected cuisine is bright and balanced, but the overall dinner experience didn't stand up to other similarly priced tasting menus (theirs are 95€ and 120€).

Lunch is a better bet with menus at 35€ and 45€, and Aldehyde is a wonderfully situated haven for eating before or after a visit to Notre-Dame.

Has anyone else experienced this yet? What did you think? You can read our full review at the newsletter link in profile.

Some favorite dishes from our favorite Italian restaurant in Paris, osteriaferrara

You can't go wrong with a plate delicate raviolis stuffed with sheep's milk ricotta and garnished with pecorino and crispy guanciale. Or with a lovely loose risotto that's been buried beneath a blanket of black truffle. Or with linguini with clams ... have we ever not ordered this?

The pasta and risotto options are great, but don't sleep on the soups! Over the years, some of our favorite dishes here were thoughtfully made soups, garnished with sourdough croutons and a generous glug of incredible olive oil.

You can read the full review (for free) at the newsletter link in our bio.

And hurry over there while we're still in soup season ❄ They're open Monday!

Notre-Dame will reopen its doors to the public tomorrow. Over the coming year, more than 40k daily visitors to the cathedral are expected, more than double the daily attendance at the Louvre.

And when these people get hungry? Some will turn to the sad little stalls next to the cathedral that are hawking béchamel slathered hot dogs and industrial panini. Others will stumble into disappointing mussels and leathery steak along the Seine. But not you! You’re going to grab our list of favorite places to eat near Notre-Dame (in our newsletter, link in profile) and enjoy some legitimately delicious croissants, coffee, and classic French food, all within an easy walk from the cathedral.

If you’re visiting to Lyon, you’re going to want to hit a classic bouchon. But after that’s out of the way, you’re going to want to eat at brasserie.roseaux

We had an incredible dinner last night at this just-opened restaurant from the chefs behind (now closed) Food Traboule.

We got to enjoy this stunning fricassée de volaille au vieux vinaigre - farm chicken in a sauce made with aged vinegar and tarragon with an indulgent gratin of rigatoni on the side.

Also delicious (and indulgent): the tournedos Rossini - beef filet topped with roasted foie gras and drizzled with truffle-infused veal jus - puffed potatoes on the the side. They charge just 39€ for this incredible dish.

The table next to us order the show-stopping vol au vent stuffed with quenelles, sweetbreads, chicken and vegetables, carved and served by chefs tabatamey and ludovic_mey on the most beautiful vintage cart from christofle

The entrées were also great. We started with six oysters (not pictured), a gorgeous slab of terrine, and leeks with hazelnut praline and vinaigrette.

For dessert we were sad to miss the millefeuille (already sold out) but loved the chocolate pot de crème and the pets-de-nonne (nun’s farts) - beignets dipped in melted chocolate and milk jam.

Lyon is just two hours from Paris on the high speed TGV train. It’s an easy and delicious side trip if you’re looking to explore another part of France.

Fana is a new addition to our collection of 50 Favorite Restaurants in Paris. This sweet little bistro on the backside of the Montmartre hill offers a very affordable prix fixe with three courses at night for 45€. Cold weather comforts at Chez Georges, an old Paris bistro (est. 1964) that's new to our list of 50 Paris favorites (link in profile).
