with la rentrée comes the return of one of my favorite daily rituals: le goûter. as fall routines call for warmer clothes, i’m loving this rich, buttery, nut-colored suede set from sezane - just as indulgent, buttery, and nutty as these fudgy financiers, the perfect after-school snack. recipe below

financier (hazelnut or almond): 
100g almonds or hazelnuts, skinless 
75g butter 
50g raw/turbinado/demerara sugar or light brown sugar
50g white sugar
3/4 tsp diamond crystal kosher salt 
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
optional: 1/4tsp almond extract (if making the almond version)
50g egg whites, cold (slightly less than 2 large eggs) 
25g all-purpose flour
1/4tsp baking powder
+ melted butter or non-stick baking spray for lining your pans (I highly recommend nonstick baking spray for mini tartlet pans) 

tools:
personal-sized blender (or a full-size blender if doubling the recipe)

popsockets called to say their Riviera Collection is back! celebrating with a pasta and tomato dish #popsocketspartner – recipe below:

500g dried pasta of choice
Salt to taste
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (+ up to 1 tsp of calabrian chile oil - optional)
300g cherry tomatoes 
600-700g plum tomatoes (or tomatoes of choice)
4 large cloves of garlic (15-18g)
1-2 anchovies
1/2-1 calabrian chile or chili flakes (to taste)
50g white or yellow onion (about 1/2 of a small-medium onion)
2 tablespoons butter
50g parm + extra 
A few sprigs of basil

1. Boil salted water for pasta. 
2. In a Dutch oven or wide-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, add your olive oil (and Calabrian chile oil, if using). Wash your cherry tomatoes and place them in the hot pan with a pinch of salt. Cover with a lid and leave for 4-5 minutes.
3. Grate, finely chop, or blend your garlic cloves, anchovies, Calabrian chile, and onion.
4. When some tomatoes are bursting and starting to get jammy, turn the heat down to the lowest setting and move them to a plate. 
5. In your pan, add your garlic, anchovies, Calabrian chile, another pinch of salt, and some pepper. Stir occasionally.  
6. Add your plum tomatoes to boiling water, cook for 2 minutes, and then place them in a bowl of cold water. Add pasta to the same pot and cook per package directions.
7. Peel and chop the blanched plum/heirloom tomatoes (discard the skins). Add them to the pan with garlic, chiles, anchovy, and onion. Simmer on medium heat to reduce. Chop basil.
8. When the pasta is 1 minute from al dente, add it to the pan with the sauce and cook for 1 minute. Add a splash of (pasta) water if needed. Turn off the heat, add your butter and some grated parm, and give everything a good stir. Add your bursting cherry tomatoes and basil.
