Riding by car used to be a PAIN! 😅🫣 She didn’t like it, I didn’t like it… it was noisy and stressful. A few small changes made a huge difference. I leashed Mia and kept her out of the carrier. That immediately reduced the meowing and made the trip more comfortable for all. By being less anxious myself, I could also be a better co-rider for Mia… then I also noticed how she would get uncomfortable during the trip and start meowing again. The second round of meows are not anxiety driven, they are discomfort driven. The sound less desperate and more like asking for a favor. That’s the way Mia tells me she has to use the litterbox. We stop and offer it to her. Finally, the car bed. Massive difference because it frees my hands as a driver or as a copilot, so I can do something different than being a good cat dad. Treat tossing! 🐯💨 Not every meal has to come from a bowl. Sometimes I just toss Mia Feastfuls and make her run for her mid day snack. At the beginning Mia went nuts. Chasing. Leaping. She soon started finding the exercise rather annoying and waited for the treats to stop moving before going to get them. The pictures? Total chaos. Blurry. Crooked. Not Instagram-perfect at all. For the longest time I thought I was an extrovert… 😅 I was okay surrounded by people, particularly people I like and I’m connected to. Then, my boss told me something that made me realize that I’m an introvert and helped me regulate better. She basically asked me: - Do you like seeing your friends and hang out when you feel energetic? - Or do you go hang out and see your friends to feel energetic? It’s such a small nuance but it made me realize that while I love my people, I recharge alone, at home or in nature. When hanging out with people, there’s a moment that my social battery gets depleted and I stop feeling I’m my best self. Sometimes walking Mia is exciting. Other times feels like pasturing cows, and that’s okay. 🐮 🌱🌱🐯 On Instagram, it’s easy to see cats doing big things; hikes, kayaking, surfing even skiing!! The reality is that those cats have been habituated to those activities over the course of a lifetime. I want to give you the freedom to do more with your cat, but I mostly want your cat to experience the outdoors in a way that’s enriching and rewarding. Most of the times, a backyard or a park are the best we can offer our cats and it’s totally fine! Your cat is so photogenic… 📸🐯 Yeah, sure… Taking good pictures of Mia took us where we are today, and while she’s gorgeous, it takes hundreds of shots to get that killer shot we all love. Here’s a few tips to take great pictures of your cat: 1) Get at their level. Cats are a lot prettier when you see them at their height. Either get low or get them up. 2) Use their quirks and their personalitat in your favor. What makes your cat unique is what will make your photography work. 3) Take tons of shots, don’t wait for the right instant.
