![Breathe deep, switch off, stay awhile… if you are looking for the ultimate hotel in the Cotswolds the_pig_hotels in Barnsley is amazing. I knew the former barnsley_house well and so was intrigued when The Pig took it over… they kindly invited me to spend the night earlier this year when I just sold my cottage and I jumped at the chance. It was fantastic to witness their stamp on it, in true Pig style… an abundance of plants, incredible food, stunning gardens, comfortable rooms… to name but a few. I also adored their takeover of the village pub too and have been back several times since…

![Not your average delivery day! We designed and made this shepherds hut a few years ago, and from the day it was craned in, it became home for 15 months whilst renovating the cottage. ![Yes it’s real… and yes you can stay here too! As I was always asked if my cottage was rentable, so now I’m on a mission to find ones you CAN rent! This adorable cottage, with charm in every corner, is the most soulful little hideaway I’ve ever stayed in. Perfectly decorated, with every need catered for and a view to die for, Wishbone (even the name is charming) is the dream countryside escape. It’s rented through uniquehomestays and is set in the Malvern Hills. Just a side note, being sorely out of practice this reel has taken me hours to make, so I’m off for some lemon drizzle and a cup of tea….

![Hello! THE NEXT CHAPTER…. So a tough start to the year, resulting in me taking time off to support someone, who thankfully is on the slow road to recovery, but the journey has taught me so much… Being more aware than ever of the fragility of life, has resulted in me making some changes in my life. I want to spend more quality time with family and friends. I spent so many years working hard to make ends meet which resulted in having little time or energy for a life outside of work.
So…. I have sold my beloved cottage, which gives me the ability to scale down my work, and spend more time doing things that make me happy.
Thank you for so many messages of support over the last 6 months, you have no idea what these mean’t to me (I’m still working my way through them). To be honest there were elements of instagram that I haven’t missed; the toxic comparison element, the constant pressure to provide content, keeping up with the fast pace of new video methods becoming obsolete overnight, navigating AI etc. But what I have missed is YOU, your warmth, this community…. and I’m just trying to get through these ‘first post back nerves’…
So here we are…. on the search for a forever home, and I hope you will come on that journey with me, and meanwhile I’ll share things that I hope are uplifting and inspiring.]()

I’m only putting this personal situation on instagram because so many kind people have DM’ed me asking if I’m ok due to my lack of posting. ![Looking back always makes me feel so grateful… this kitchen was an old lean-to, which we demolished, dug down for foundations & underfloor heating, clad the new extension in timber inside & out, to add texture, and here we are… The kitchen really is the beating heart of every home.. ![I’d been told about all the amazing places in Somerset, but I wasn’t prepared for how things had changed since I last went there 6 years ago… After a productive day with clients, and probably the best lunch I’ve ever had at osiprestaurant (as well as extraordinary interiors) we wanted to go off to explore the area ourselves… I’d stayed at thenewtinsomerset when it opened but was unprepared for their expansion. Fascinating to see the detailing & architecture at the new Castle Cary train station where they restored the dairy (which transported cheese to London in the early 1900’s), as it was situated next to the station. Now, you can now see the cheese being made, under a glass walkway, below the farm shop... I don’t think I’ve seen a nicer place to wait for your train than sitting at The Creamery! And then all the wonderful foodie places in Bruton, I loved oldpharmacybruton where we had a delicious lunch before heading back home, and we explored so many other places, all of which are listed below. Somerset you were innovative, interesting & beautiful… but it’s always lovely to be home….

![We had quite a few “what have we done?!” moments when Otis was little… but now at 7 months, he’s much easier and adores it when everyone’s around. ![Don’t be fooled, it looks like this now, but in 5 minutes there’ll be a full on barrier to ward off an inquisitive 6 month old puppy! Gosh it takes forever doing the tree but she’s up now and it’s nice to see some old friends on it. I made the garland from some tree branches and put on my name places that I made last weekend as I felt the colour went with the mantle! I know bows are in big time at the moment so I did a nod to that with some white wired burlap ribbon I bought and tied in a bow for the top… wrapping as usual simple white or brown paper with string or hessian ribbon. I will tag where I bought items this year on stories but now I’m off to get ready for my only Christmas party (loving being at home in my PJ’s far too much!) and leaving a trail of mess and boxes and un put away decorations to clear up in the morning!]()

Listed below are my favourites, I know them all well and also stayed in a few of them whilst renovating the cottage (before we got our Shepherds hut)…. ![Happy Advent! Being a ‘real tree’ person I don’t get mine until next weekend, so here’s a snippet of last year’s simple styling… I love foraging for moss & ivy & adding some eucalyptus. It’s always white or brown paper with hessian ribbon and simple white decorations for me. These adorable mini stockings were given to me by carolinefosterbrown and I treasure them.
