- Experience Tai Chi with Sherry Zhang! Sat, October 26. 2-4pm. Tai Chi is a gentle martial art originating from China, characterized by its slow, flowing movements and deep focus on breath control, balance and alignment. It is often described as a form of moving meditation. A natural complement to yoga, Tai Chi provides a holistic approach to wellness, enhancing the benefits of each discipline. Sherry is a China Physical Education and Sports Committee certified Tai Chi and Qi Gong instructor. She is a faculty member at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NYC and Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY. A native of Hubei, China, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Phys. Ed from Chengdu Physical Education Institute in Sichuan and was an associate researcher in the Chinese Wushu Research Institute in Beijing. Sherry has been practicing martial arts since she was 6 years old and since 1998 has been recognized as one of China’s top martial artists.
