Don’t judge a book by its cover… I know, a bright pink shipping container parked outside a supermarket might not scream “authentic Lebanese,” but trust me — what’s happening inside is seriously impressive.

From the moment you order, you’re handed a freshly dressed falafel on the house. It’s a small gesture, but it sets the tone straight away.

The shawarma here? Absolutely banging — flavour-packed and priced really fairly too. The only heads-up is that they’ll load it with all the salads and sauces unless you specifically say otherwise, so speak up if you’re picky.

Overall, this place is a gem. Easily one of my top recommendations.

This hotdog still lives rent free in my head 👌

Last year I made my way over to thehoundchiswick in Chiswick, a modern gastro pub tucked inside a beautifully restored old police station. It’s got that cosy-boozer-meets-polished-restaurant vibe: high ceilings, exposed brick, and a bar that takes cocktails as seriously as the food. After sipping on a pretty spectacular negroni, it was time to see what the kitchen could do.

If you want to judge a pub’s food, forget the Sunday roast for a moment—it’s the small plates that tell you if they’ve really got it right. The Hound is already off to a strong start here.

And then came the reason for my visit: the hotdog.
Now, this is a bold move for a pub menu—get it wrong and it feels cheap, get it right and it’s a showstopper. Luckily, they absolutely nailed it. The sausage itself was perfectly seasoned and juicy, the bun soft yet sturdy, and the toppings? Every element balanced in harmony, nothing overpowering the other.

PROS
The size alone makes this worth it. It’s absolutely loaded, and not just padded out with salad either—in fact, if you’re sharing, you might even wish there was more salad to cut through it.

CONS
Bit of a Deliveroo issue—you can only select one sauce, and you can’t add extras. Let’s be honest, you want both garlic and hot chilli at minimum. The doner was a little off—tasted like it had been sat in the hot holder too long, slightly dried out. The real standouts were the fresh Ukrainian shish kebab, the grilled tandoori, and the chicken shawarma.

SUMMARY
For £14.99 delivered, the value and portion size are seriously attractive. A couple of rough edges on quality, sure, but considering the cost and volume of food, it’s a solid order I’d happily get again.

How to turn these into restaurant style lemon pepper tenders 

And it all starts with the sauce well more technically the glaze 
Take some lemon pepper seasoning ( im using spicyryes ) and re hydrate it with a little boiling water 
Drop in a slab of butter and a generous amount of honey and mix well 

The other tip is to make sure that you make enough of the sauce. You’ll be surprised how much it takes to fully coat the tenders. 

anyway, this is super simple, but it honestly takes something standard and turns it into something tasty.

6 Burgers i ate at burger_fest_uk 

Number One – baggioburger 
The much-loved OG is back with a bang, serving up a double patty stacked with blue cheese and fig jam. The strong, punchy cheese paired perfectly with the sweetness of the jam, all wrapped around a juicy, fatty patty. A seriously good burger.

Number Two – stripclub_streetfood 
The Biscoff Burger. Dinner? Dessert? Who knows. What I do know is it worked. A heavily seasoned patty and salty bacon cut straight through the sweetness of the Biscoff, balancing out the flavours and making a truly unique burger.

Number Three – bunandsum 
Right now these guys are running the halal burger and barbecue scene. Classics done right with smash patties, and a special shoutout for their chilli cheese burger — using fresh jalapeños instead of pickled ones. That detail matters.

Number Four – smiths_of_bourton 
Things took a cheffy turn here. A refreshing mix of cheese and sauce combinations paired with top-quality ingredients. Simple, refined, and mighty tasty.

Number Five – please_sir_one_bite 
“Can I have some more?” Honestly, yes. An unknown vendor to me before this festival, but they smashed it — literally. Perfectly smashed patties, quality buns, and onions to cut through the richness. This is one I’d happily eat again.

Number Six – smash_n_slide 
In my eyes, the OGs of the halal smash burger world. Ultra-smashed patties on soft potato buns, with their truffle special bringing that big umami hit. A reminder of why they’re still one of the best.

Burger Fest might be one of the last big festivals of the year, but it definitely ranked as one of the best. Bring on next year 🍔

I headed down to burger_fest_uk to check out probably the most viral burger vendor in the UK.

Tom and his team create these massive, super-caramelised smash burgers with all sorts of weird and wonderful toppings.

I’d heard fantastic things about his burgers, and with a pretty keen eye I believed they’d live up to the hype—but I didn’t think they’d exceed it.

Tom’s obsession with perfecting the art of a burger has created some truly sensational results.

Even his smashing technique is inspiring—he somehow manages to achieve a crispy outer ring while keeping the centre pink and juicy.

His understanding of balance, texture, and ingredients creates the perfect synergy of flavour.

This was honestly an emotional experience, and a vendor worth travelling to.

I challenged lead guitarist Ryan ( hyslopryan ) and bassist ( jamestbgrayson ) to a head-to-head French taco battle at moozaksfrenchtacos in Hawley Wharf before their sold-out Camden Underworld show.

James kicked things off with fried chicken and a flawless wrap-folding technique… but Ryan went all in with sriracha, peri-peri chips, onions, and tomatoes. Maybe a little over-filled, but packed with flavour.

We left it to the rest of the crew to crown the winner — and despite the messy assembly, Ryan’s bold flavour combo took the crown. 🌯👑
