![Survival guide for design week
Design week is an exciting but intense experience, and a little planning can make all the difference. Here are my top tips for making the most of it:
• Visit key installations early – The best exhibitions attract huge crowds, so if you want to avoid long queues, explore them in the first few days. The closer to the weekend, the bigger the crowds!
• Plan your daily route wisely – The city is packed, taxis are nearly impossible to get, and moving between districts takes time. The best strategy? Explore one area at a time.
The main design districts are: Porta Venezia, Brera, Tortona, Durini, Isola, Cinque Vie and Sapri. My personal favorites are Porta Venezia and Brera.
• Weekend visitors, take note – If you can only check out installations on the weekend, I recommend focusing on the Cinque Vie district. It’s one of the few areas that remains relatively calm, even at peak times.
• Book everything in advance – Reservations are essential, from exhibitions to restaurants. If you haven’t booked your dining spots yet, hurry up.
