In the midst of the newborn days and sleepless nights, getting out can make such difference! My older two 🫶🏾 They’ve really been so supportive and understanding over the past few months, honestly I’m blown away! Not only adjusting to having anew sibling, but also the fact mummy is recovering from major surgery. The fact I can’t take them out every week like I used to etc, they have taken it so well! I think it bothers me than them tbh. Nylah learned to do the laundry and tumble dry and also surprises me with breakfast (granola and yog bowl) and Nazzy learned to unload the dishwasher 🥹 Emotionally, they’ve been checking on me and do things to cheer me up. Eczema Awareness Week November 2022, I’ll never forget waking up to Nylah’s skin blistered and itchy. We fought tirelessly to find an answer and solution to it. From allergy testing, blood testing and many appointments later…We got to know it was atopic dermatitis (eczema) but as I never witnessed it appear like this on anyone I knew had eczema, I was in disbelief. Months on end, all her hair falling out, skin raw and itchy, nothing prescribed worked for her. After going through our private healthcare, we were given a treatment plan and an extensive list of items to use which finally started to work. This went on for over a year, it’s hard work, exhausting and upsetting feeling helpless when your child is so itchy and restless and you can’t do anything about it. Thankfully for us, she outgrew it and has minor flare ups with weather changes. If you’re a parent going through it, I see you, I have been there and I’m here to say I know it takes a toll, it takes time but it WILL get better once you find the products and regime that works best for your child (every child is different and takes differently to products). There is light at the end of the tunnel. I have a highlight where I documented Nylah’s journey and have a little communication of eczema warrior parents. My DM’s are always open if you need support, an ear or product recommendations. An organisation I found amazing and supportive was eczemaoutreachsupport … I’ll be sharing more info ahead of eczema awareness month on what our routine is, products and how we manage and maintain her healthy skin barrier now.
