![Thank you to everyone who has sent me and my dad kind messages. I visited him in hospital yesterday and he's fine. Had to take him some essentials: pink socks, 2 x John le Carré novels, a pot of Bovril, a packet of chocolate digestives, and some undies. Also managed to get his iPad connected to the internet so that he doesn't die of boredom.
He won't be able to have his pacemaker fitted until Wednesday now but because he's basically the walking dead with a heart rate that struggles to get into the high 30s, they are keeping him in to monitor him.
As ever - thank you to the nhsengland. The men and women looking after dad are doing the most incredible job. We are so lucky.

![Losing a lot of weight is a heady experience and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have conflicting feelings about it. I feel amazing. Physically I feel more myself. I feel lighter. I have more energy and less pain and stiffness. My confidence never disappeared, regardless of my size, but it is definitely easier to access these days.
Much like the relief from the food noise, I'm also experiencing a relief from the 'clothes noise' (what shall I wear? What CAN I wear? Do I feel comfortable in this? I wish I could wear that and feel good...etc). I know that's a reaction to what society has made me believe looks aesthetically pleasing and dressing a thinner body is a lot easier for me because of that.
But, I wonder if I'm letting women down by losing this weight so publicly; if I'm somehow undoing years of hard work by those people who have worked tirelessly to make real bodies acceptable. To some extent, I probably am. But I also know there's much more to it than that but it's so fucking nuanced that even I'm struggling to find the words (and you know I LOVE a bit of nuance...and words!).
I'm going to write more about this on my Substack but for now, know that I'm nearing the end of my weight loss journey but throughout it all I've tried to be open and honest about it in a tactful and thoughtful way.

![Moving this up to the grid because it's so bloody important. I had my yearly mammogram this morning. I started having them when I was 40 because my mum had breast cancer in her 40s so my risk of early breast cancer is higher.
It's so important to me to share this stuff because I think a lot of women are afraid to advocate for themselves. We are often made to feel like we are hysterical or over reacting but I encourage you ALL to fight through that and push for the care you think you need.
The NHS is incredible BUT they are underfunded and under resourced so they're not necessarily able to offer this stuff up unless you ask for it. If you don't feel like you're being heard, make a nuisance of yourself, keep going, don't worry about what they think of you - as a good friend always reminds me, 'what someone else thinks of you is none of your business'.
