A weekend in Verona ✨ After an exciting few days in Venice for Carnival, we drove a little over an hour to Verona and stayed at the beautiful nhcollection, right in the heart of the historic center. Verona felt cozy and welcoming, and we were so close to key spots like the Arena di Verona, Piazza delle Erbe, and Juliet’s House. I loved hearing that so many of you have been and thought it was as charming as I did! For prime viewing, aim for mid-to-late April when the blooms are at their peak. Keukenhof Gardens has set dates—this year it’s March 20 to May 11. WHERE TO GO The area around Lisse is most popular. It’s less than an hour from Amsterdam and home to many tulip attractions. You can also see them in the north and east of the country. WHAT TO DO Explore Keukenhof Gardens and visit tourist-friendly tulip farms like tulipexperienceamsterdam de_tulperij famflowerfarm You’ll see a lot of flower fields, but ask permission before venturing onto private property. Remember this is the farmers’ livelihood, and definitely don’t step on the flowers! WHERE TO STAY Stay in Amsterdam or nearby towns like Lisse. We loved our stay at anantarakrasnapolsky and their Tulip Experience, where we had a special lunch in their private tulip field. HOW TO GET THERE Rent a car, take a bus transfer or join a guided tour from Amsterdam (there are a lot!). Once there, rent a bike or small electric car, or go on a helicopter tour! IS IT WORTH VISITING? We liked staying in Amsterdam and visiting the fields on a day trip. The flowers bloomed early when we went because of the weather, but places like Keukenhof Gardens guarantee blooms since the garden is made for visitors. I’ve been to many flower happenings (sakuras in Japan, lavenders in Provence) around the world and this was one of the best and most unique! If you’re into beautiful natural sites and colorful fields of flowers, definitely put this on your list.
