Welcome to…

SLOVENIA 🇸🇮

how to spend the perfect 5 days exploring the beauty of Slovenia 🥾⛰️

This is one of my new favourite countries in Europe, and wow wow wow this country is so beautiful and the people are SO friendly 🥹

We actually flew into Trieste in Italy and then got a bus to Ljubljana but you can also fly direct to the capital ✈️

The bus from Trieste to Ljubljana took around 3.5 hours as we had awful weather, and the bus from Ljubljana to Lake Bled took around 1 hour.

We then took a transfer with iwaytransfers from bled to the airport which took around 25 minutes!

We spent 1 night and 1 day in Ljubljana which was perfect for us as we wanted to spend longer in the nature, however there is lots to do here and you could spend a few days here!

We then spent 3 nights and 4 days based in Lake Bled. I highly reccomend spending at least this long here, as the weather can change so quickly so allowing a few days will give you enough time to hopefully see some sunshine!

Instead of hiring a car (which is possible) we decided to do a full day tour exploring some of the most beautiful spots in the Triglav National Park. We booked this through getyourguidecommunity getyourguide and it’s called ‘7 Alpine Wonders’

the day trip includes the following stops:

📍Pericnik waterfall
📍Zelenci Nature Reserve
📍cross the border into Italy to visit Lago Di Predel
📍 Soca town and Soca Gorge
📍 Vrsic Pass where you can see Mount Spik
📍 finish the day at Lake Jasna

You can also use my code ninetofivewanderlust10 for discount ☺️

I highly reccomend doing this tour it was AMAZING, and we also had such a fun group of people to spend the day with!

there are also beautiful spots nearby lake bled, however this is just how we spent 5 days!

welcome to one of the most beautiful spots in Europe…

…located in Slovenia 🇸🇮

Welcome to

📍 Zelenci Nature Reserve

This is is a beautiful and ecologically significant nature reserve in north-western Slovenia 🥾⛰️

It spans across 42 hectares but this spot is a short walk from the parking lot, and is unmissable on your trip to Slovenia !!

You can’t swim in the springs, but the water is absolutely incredible and fed by groundwater springs 🌷

I visited this spot as part of a tour with getyourguide - send me a message if you want more info!

It’s officially Oktoberfest season again !!!

I could have spent HOURS watching this ride at Oktoberfest 😅

The Toboggan ride at Oktoberfest was first introduced in 1906, making it over 100 years old !! I did attempt it but safe to say I had help 🙃

1 week until I’m back here !!!

welcome to one of the most beautiful towns in Austria and also a perfect spot for an autumnal day trip 🥾🍁🍂

top things to do in Hallstatt:
📍 the skywalk
📍 the viewpoint of the church
📍 the salt mine (may be tricky if you only have a day)!
📍stroll through the old town and visit the central square
📍 if you have longer there are also great hiking routes and waterfalls to visit

While Hallstatt is a stunning town, it has been known to get very crowded with tourists, so it’s important to be mindful of this as this is also peoples homes !!

I visited in late September, and it was a perfect time to visit ⛰️🥾

the perfect weekend getaway this winter 🎅🏼🌞

how to spend a long weekend in the South of France 🇫🇷

The south of France is amazing for a long weekend, especially from London - just a short flight to Nice, and a quick bus or tram and you will arrive in the sunny south of France!!!

There are also some nice Christmas markets in the south of France, they are not HUGE but still very worth the visit. The decorations in Monaco were another level !

There are so many places to go in The south of France, but if you are just there for a weekend I would recommend basing yourself in Nice, and visiting the below places:

📍 morning in Antibes & afternoon in Cannes 📍 day trip to Menton & you can stop in Monaco on the way back for dinner

Other places to consider visiting:
📍Eze
📍Saint-Paul-de-Vence Villefranche-sur-Mer
📍Cap-Ferrat

I have written a more detailed post on what to do in each of these places✈️

this was literally the most fun 2 minutes ever 🤣

This is the summer tobbagan ride in Bled, and clue is in the name it’s only open in summer 🌞

it costs 13 euros but you can pay a bit extra and get multiple rides and skip the queue entry !! I actually wish I had done it again it was SO good

Also you control your own speed and at the start I thought I would break the whole time but it actually feels pretty safe and going faster is SO fun !!

This is a must do if you are visiting Bled in the summer time ⛰️

I also forgot to put my camera on 0.5 which was SILLY !!!

and here is how 👇🏼

I would now classify myself as an expert of maximising annual leave (it’s about my only expertise..🤣)

& I still have days to take!!! I have highlighted the below where I have taken leave which totals 16 days so far..

Thailand - I did this trip over new year and my holiday refreshes in Jan so only part of this trip was AL allowance for 2025 (total: 4 days)

Paris: weekend trip leaving Friday eve returning Monday night (1 day)

Gdansk: weekend trip (2 days)

Porto & Lisbon: over Easter holidays so only 2 days for a pretty long trip!

Belgium: 0 days over bank holiday!

Crotia: also over bank holiday so 2 days

Tallinn & Helsinki: flew Friday night returned Tuesday evening (2 days)

Mallorca: over bank hol (0 days)

Slovenia: no bank holidays sad (3 days)

ps I also paid for these trips with my own money (excluding Mallorca which was kindly gifted) & I am also conscious of the amount of plane travel so I do try and get trains and buses where possible!

I am also in the office 5 days a week so there is no option to work remotely !!!

I am counting down the days until I’m back at Oktoberfest to see this ride 🤣🤣🤣

This is the toboggan ride where you have to run up a conveyor belt to reach the top (trust me it’s harder than it sounds) especially after a few beers !!!

if I was planning a trip for this autumn, these are the places I would reccomend ✈️🌞

For me, autumn is my favourite time to go abroad, the weather is getting COLD in the UK, and prices tend to be much cheaper than the summer (especially in Europe)…

📍 Istanbul: the perfect place to visit in autumn where the temperatures are lower than peak summer but you also get glorious sunshine! LOADS to do, and a very unique city split across two continents… I would recommend at least 5 days here
📍 Marrakesh: the perfect sunshine escape, and also amazing value! I absolutely loved my time in Marrakesh, and I spent 1 week here but you could also do a shorter trip comfortably!
📍 Mexico: I visited Mexico in October and the weather was gorgeous, I went to Mexico City, Oaxaca and Ouerto Escondido. Message me if you want more info on this trip!
📍 Budapest: one of my fave city breaks.. stunning architecture and really good food! The weather can be hit or miss but we got sunshine everyday in September!
📍 South of France: I would go here any month 😭 but late autumn and winter are actually my fave months to visit! It’s pretty quiet and hotels are far cheaper than summer..
📍 Porto: another perfect city break if you are seeking cooler temperatures with lots to see.. again the weather can be a bit up and down in Porto in Autumn but it’s deffo worth the visit!
